The NY Times - Tiffany Trump Weds at Mar-a-Lago

12 Nov 2022

The arrival of Hurricane Nicole at Mar-a-Lago in Palm Beach, Fla., on Thursday may have paused preparations for the wedding of Tiffany Trump and Michael Boulos, but the ceremony, which took place on Saturday at the club and private residence of former President Donald J. Trump, went ahead as planned ...

Toni Breiss, a Lebanese wedding and event planner known for his over-the-top productions, was brought on to realize the couple’s dream wedding.

Ms. Trump, 29, was escorted down the aisle before 250 guests by her father, Mr. Trump. The bride wore a custom dress designed by Elie Saab. ...

Mr. Boulos proposed in the White House Rose Garden last year, People magazine reported, with a 13-carat emerald-cut diamond ring worth $1.2 million.

Did guests have to pay to attend?

I do kinda feel a bit sorry for Tiffany, she's kind of the forgotten child out of Trump's many offspring. Everyone probably knows who Ivanka is, but not many know of Tiffany - which may be a good thing!

I understand the half-sisters do get along quite well though, which is good.

The Washington Post - Investigators see ego, not money, as Trump’s motive on classified papers

14 Nov 2022

Federal agents and prosecutors have come to believe former president Donald Trump’s motive for allegedly taking and keeping classified documents was largely his ego and a desire to hold on to the materials as trophies or mementos ...

As part of the investigation, federal authorities reviewed the classified documents that were recovered from Trump’s Mar-a-Lago home and private club ...

That review has not found any apparent business advantage to the types of classified information in Trump’s possession.

FBI interviews with witnesses so far do not point to any nefarious effort by Trump to leverage, sell, or use the government secrets.

Instead, the former president seemed motivated by a more basic desire not to give up what he believed was his property ...

Court papers say the Justice Department has been investigating Trump and his advisers for three potential crimes: mishandling of national security secrets, obstruction, and destruction of government records.

There are plenty of people in jail, because of their ego, not the money. Just do an Google search for other people living in Florida like Trump: "Florida man"

In the US, I worked alongside someone who spent a year in prison for stealing a lawn ornament, a large Easter bunny on a lark.

I knew another thrown in jail for breaking into a travelling circus, wearing the stolen clown costumes just outside of it.

I'd venture to say there are many people in prison because their egos.

The New York Times - Katie Hobbs, Who Defied Trump in Arizona, Tops Kari Lake for Governor

breaking

PHOENIX - Katie Hobbs, who as Arizona’s secretary of state stood up to efforts by allies of former President Donald J. Trump to overturn the 2020 election, has clinched a victory in the state’s race for governor, according to The Associated Press.

Ms. Hobbs, a Democrat, narrowly defeated Kari Lake, a right-wing former newscaster who was talked about as a future leader in a Trump-dominated Republican Party, in a bitter and closely watched race that became a final test of whether candidates molded in Mr. Trump’s image could win in battlegrounds.

Ms. Lake, one of the most prominent purveyors of Mr. Trump’s lies about his 2020 election, followed several other election-denying candidates in defeat.

Kari Lake is a very nasty fascist MAGA candidate - good riddance !

YAY! Goodbye and good riddance to the nasty piece of work dubbed "Trump in a dress". I'm very glad American voters saw through most of the MAGA bs and voted accordingly.

Bets on how long until this Lake clown starts screaming "election fraud", "I demand a recount"? I did see something from her saying she would only accept a result if she won. Well you lost, sweetheart, how are you going to deal with that??

Is the final score close enough to trigger a recount though? That's what I'm wondering.

From CNN:

Liz Cheney trolls Kari Lake over her projected loss to Katie Hobbs in Arizona

Liz Cheney is reacting to Katie Hobbs’ projected win in the Arizona governor’s race, with a sarcastic tweet responding to a sarcastic letter Republican candidate Kari Lake sent Cheney last month.

Cheney’s PAC spent $500,000 on an ad urging Arizona voters to reject Lake, who is a fervent 2020 election denier.

Lake responded by thanking Cheney on the campaign trail for getting involved in the race and said her campaign raised hundreds of thousands of dollars because of Cheney.

Cheney’s response tonight: "You’re welcome."

😀

I see Michael Pence is finally standing up and speaking out against Trump as well: https://edition.cnn.com/2022/11/14/politics/pence-trump-2024/index.html

Lake sneeringly told McCain supporters to go elsewhere. It looks like they did. I wonder how many voted for the Hobbs?

Which part of the US? In lower-crime places the most common reason for imprisonment in order to meet quota is "deadbeat dads", debtors prison for fathers unable to make their alimony payments, and minor drug offences, being caught with half an ounce of weed or a few ecstasy tablets. It's the lowest-hanging fruit, a no-hassle arrest for the police and an open-and-shut case for the courts, so they meet quota with minimal effort.

Sometimes I think it'd be better if the Retrumplicans did win and the whole s__t-show collapsed and they had to start again and correct all the brokenness.

I wouldn't be surprised if it was quite a high number. McCain - while a Republican - was pretty good mates with Joe, and Arizona voted for Joe in 2020. Trump beating up on McCain after died probably blew his chances of winning there.

Hell, Joe even spoke at McCain's funeral, while Trump wasn't even invited. Speaks volumes about the low opinion McCain had of Trump (quite deservedly, too).

This is not a good idea.

A lot of one-liners

Note Mitchell McConnell is the Senate minority leader since 2021. Unbelievably he's in his 7th term.

in 1985 Michael Jordan wss named as the NBA's "Rookie of the Year" and a gallon of gas US $1.09

If a male child was born when Mitch first won his seat, he'd might be going bald, having mid-life crisis, in his second marriage, with his youngest child starting college.

About time. He's the Chief Obstructionist, the primary political achievement of his career has been to block anything the Democracts try and do simply because it's the Democrats doing it. If they came out with a cure for cancer, McConnell would block it.

quickymart:What happens next?

I'm betting on one of the following options:

- Nothing! (Going on past "enforcement")

- Trump takes a Lawsuit against anyone to stall!

- Trump has a Fundraiser to get him more personal funds - oops I mean to fund his legal defence!
