Off subject, but here's an Indian cook making the world's blandest sandwich. Pence truly is a Mayonnaise Cold Sandwich.

The secret seasoning: salt!

I don't think she's actually Indian, I mean white bread with the crust cut off and diced cucumber, carrots, and mayonez? That's Ethel from Bognor Regis, not anyone who's prepared Indian cuisine. Even something as plain as dal soup gets enough extras added to it to make it more interesting than crustless-white-bread sandwiches.

Those sandwiches look damn good to me. I say this as an almost daily consumer of Indian cuisine. I have to tell you, some people will find your comment unpleasant and offensive.

What, pointing out that Indian cuisine is fabulous while white bread with the crust cut off must be some sort of British blandness that slipped in?

The NY Times -  Garland Names Special Counsel for Trump Investigations

breaking

WASHINGTON - Attorney General Merrick B. Garland appointed a special counsel on Friday to take over two major criminal investigations involving former President Donald J. Trump, including his role in events leading up to the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol and his handling of sensitive government documents.

John L. Smith, the former head of the Justice Department’s public integrity section, will oversee the investigation into Mr. Trump’s retention of sensitive government documents at his home in Florida, and “key” aspects of the separate inquiry into the former president’s actions before the Jan. 6 attack.

Based on recent developments, including the former president announcement that he is a candidate for president in the next election and the sitting president’s stated intention to be a candidate as well, I have concluded it is in the public interest to appoint a special counsel,” Mr. Garland said.

Such an appointment underscores the department’s commitment to both independence and accountability in particularly sensitive matters.

The appointment of a special counsel was a way for the Justice Department to insulate its investigations against Mr. Trump from political considerations.

I truly hope this will go somewhere. I truly fear it won't. Look what happened to the last special counsel.

It won't go anywhere. Everything is already too slow. Nothing will be done. They protect each other.

I would agree it's not going anywhere, but they won't protect each other. Americans looking for power / wealth / fame would proudly step in a relative's eye socket if it provide them a boost.

Here's a non-ironic article called How to sell your grandmother

"A zealous salesperson is often said to be willing to ‘sell their own grandmother, given half a chance’. This may be a humorous and harsh colloquialism but the old adage that ‘cash-flow is the lifeblood of any organisation’ rings true for all businesses the world over.

Selling doesn’t come naturally to everyone. Business development, marketing, pitching and placing value on your time are key strategies in aligning strategy and sales. Citrus Tree works with many organisations of varying sizes and we see the same repetitive themes negatively influencing sales and ultimately the success of the business"

Politico: Trump is no longer enjoying himself — and it shows
...
The most significant change — it is dramatic — was that in 2015 Trump was self-evidently having fun and good-naturedly inviting his audience to have fun with him.

..., for all the raucous braggadocio, there was a human dimension to Trump in 2015 that was barely evident in the heavy, heaving, hectoring tone of this week’s announcement.
...
“Every hero,” Emerson wrote some 170 years ago of Napoleon, “becomes a bore at last.”

Perhaps every villain, too. At least that’s the case for CNN, where for years journalists took pride in opposing and exposing Trump even as, on programming grounds, the network was in a symbiotic relationship with him. On Tuesday, anchors cut away from his speech in the middle for roundtable analysis. No doubt they were responding to scolding from journalistic priests who warn about illegitimately amplifying Trump’s bombast and deceptions. But the real reason was that listening to Trump’s speech was a bit of a slog. Unfortunately, listening to analysts describe it as low-energy and full of falsehoods was also a bit of a slog.

Deep down, Trump is too much of a natural performer not to know the truth. He is no longer having fun. When he is boring even to himself, it’s going to be very hard to keep his audience.

Can Trump tear down Ron De Santis like he did to Jeb Bush back in 2016?

Jack Smith most recently served as a war crimes prosecutor at The Hague

BBC News - Special counsel Jack Smith to oversee criminal investigations into Trump

today

An independent lawyer has been appointed to oversee the US justice department's criminal investigations into former President Donald Trump. ...

Mr Smith is a former prosecutor in New York and most recently served as a chief prosecutor in The Hague where he investigated war crimes in Kosovo. ...

In a statement on Friday evening from his Florida estate Mar-a-Lago, Mr Trump slammed the "horrendous abuse of power" by a "corrupt and highly political" justice department in appointing a "super-radical left" special counsel.

Donald is so predictable ...  Look at Me. I'm a Victim. ... again.

He sounds like a worried man ... excellent !   😶
