Another "How sad ...."
How sad it must be never having any real pals/friends for all your life. He was probably bullied at school as well.
It would be interesting seeing a list of his visitors while in prison. Probably won't need a big bit of paper to record them.

For all his failures, shortcomings and apparent inability to behave like a normal person, I don't think Trump is actually stupid. Obviously, he's no 'stable genius' but his IQ is probably close to average. So he'd be well aware that, deep down, he's a very unpleasant person whose only 'friends' are fools, creeps and sycophants.
This level of self-deprecation goes some way to explain his habit of referring to himself in the third person, i.e., he frequently refers to 'Trump' in writing and speech. For example, he once told Bill Barr, "You must hate Trump!" and he often mentions 'Trump' in emails and Tweets.
So it was with interest that I read this online:
'Talking in the third person is a way to disentangle yourself from the side of you that people are finding distasteful or disingenuous. If you can detach from the first person which you don’t like, in your mind you are more acceptable to those around you. Those who don’t wish to take responsibility for their actions often use this tactic to justify their behaviors. It’s not considered a mental illness but a form of justification.'
'Those who can make you believe absurdities can make you commit atrocities.' Voltaire
'A patriot must always be ready to defend his country against his government.' Edward Abbey

Narcissists don't work like that. When he says he's God's gift to the world, brilliant, everyone worships him, he only has the best people working for him, he's a genius, etc, he really believes that. Everywhere he goes, people fall at his feet because they're so much in awe of him. Everyone he meets is a famous person who wants to get close to his brilliance. Everything he does is a huge win and perfectly executed.
The conflict between this self-created fantasy and reality is caused by people or events constantly thwarting him. He was this close, and then some random event or bad person stopped him.
At last, someone who makes Marjorie Taylor Greene look good by comparison.

I was reading about that guy too. What a screwup from start to finish. Unsurprisingly, Kevin McCarthy is completely silent - seems working for Trump has scared him into ever saying anything bad about any Republican, ever. Dunno how expects to function as leader of the House while being such a coward. Maybe he fears Trump will unleash his MAGA rent-a-mob on him again.

The law may get him for not explaining how he went from 50K income and spent 700K 2 years later. Very dodgy where the money came from.
(There's many variations of this on Etsy).

Lying isn’t usually a crime. (Though there are exceptions for perjury and fraud.) Many of Santos’ alleged misrepresentations, such as his education and work history, that his employees were killed in the Pulse nightclub shooting, or that his family fled Nazi Germany, are inactionable by any authoritative body.
Where Santos’ pattern of misleading and outright dishonesty could become more serious is in his highly irregular financial disclosures.
I reckon eh, as per the above it's one thing to lie about your background and make stuff up about what you used to do for employment, but I bet it's the finances part that's going to completely screw him.

This helps explain why Santos will probably get away with this; in other words, Trump got away with lying all the time and the GOP did nothing - why change a winning formula? 🙄

The NY Times - Trump Tax Returns Undermine His Image as a Successful Entrepreneur
30 Dec 2022
The release of former President Donald J. Trump’s private tax documents by the House Ways and Means Committee shows heavy losses from his own ventures as he continued to cash in on inherited assets.
House Democrats released six years of former President Donald J. Trump’s tax records on Friday, offering new insight into his business dealings that further undermined his long-cultivated image as a wildly successful businessman. ...
But the returns, which cover the tax years 2015 through 2020, do not show much success for Mr. Trump in his recent business dealings.
They show Mr. Trump often reported heavy losses from his own ventures, even as he continued to cash in on assets he inherited. ...
In 2018, after a decade in which the former president declared no taxable income, Mr. Trump reported taxable income of more than $24 million. ...
That income appeared to be the result of more than $14 million in gains from the sale of an investment his father had made in the 1970s, which became part of Mr. Trump’s inheritance.
