Rikkitic:
America is broken. End of story.
Unfortunately, and sadly, I have to agree.
But still hope I am wrong.
The partisan divide has been growing for a long time. There are still good people on the Republican side, but most have been replaced by mean-spirited low-quality self-serving dickheads who have no interest or ability in governing, just retribution. There is no way to work with such people for the good of the country and the sooner they self-destruct, the better. Even then, America will still be broken.

ABSOLUTELY - A1 Agree!!!!
The American self serving toxic ☢ greediness is palpable to the whole world; Friends & Enemies, Left & Right, Good & Bad Believes, Rich & Poor, and yet the blinkered hypocrites of America can not sense it nor see it.
America's first motto was: "Out of many, one"
or as Spock put it: "The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few or the one.”
That didn't work so in the mid 1950's they sort of officially changed it to: "In God we trust"
and so Spock struck again: "Live long and prosper".
Motto Ref: United States national motto
Whilst the difficult we can do immediately, the impossible takes a bit longer. However, miracles you will have to wait for.

Pretty soon they'll have to change it again, to "Lord help us!".

Ironically, the MAGA slogan appeals to nationalistic sentiment yet suggests that the country is no longer great, even though it once was.

It's actually very clever because it's so vague, everyone gets to decide for themselves when America was great so it appeals to almost everyone even if they'd violently disagree on things otherwise.
It's also not a Trump thing, it was first used by Reagan. America First dates back to Charles Lindbergh, Trumps strategists just copied what worked in the past.
At least Reagan could govern and wasn't a narcissistic, petty a-hole, harbouring pathetic grudges for the rest of his life.
Also: one of Trump's biggest supporters died at the weekend. Of note, she was an African-American female - not usually a group associated closely with him: https://www.1news.co.nz/2023/01/11/diamond-of-pro-trump-duo-diamond-and-silk-dead-at-51/

The NY Times - George Santos Faces Calls to Resign From Long Island G.O.P. Leaders
breaking
WESTBURY, N.Y. - Republican officials on Long Island, including Representative Anthony D’Esposito, called on Wednesday for Representative George Santos to resign, as he faces multiple inquiries into his finances, campaign spending and fabrications on the campaign trail.
The Nassau County party chairman, Joseph G. Cairo Jr., said Mr. Santos, a first-term Republican, had lost the confidence of Republicans in his district, saying that Mr. Santos’s campaign was one of “deceit, lies, fabrication.”
“He’s disgraced the House of Representatives, and we do not consider him one of our congresspeople,” Mr. Cairo said. “Today on behalf of the Nassau County Republican committee. I am calling for his immediate resignation.” ...
Mr. Cairo’s rebuke, in particular, represents a significant break between Mr. Santos and an organization that was integral in helping the congressman secure his seat, which covers a large swath of Nassau County ...

So basically he's just a wbanker.
Sometimes I use big words I don't always fully understand in an effort to make myself sound more photosynthesis.
Like Trump, he is getting way too much attention. If the Republicans still had any shame, he would be shut out of every interaction other than legal proceedings. No-one should speak to him, sit next to him, eat with him, share any kind of contact with him. No committees, no invitations, no glances, nothing. Avert your eyes and move on.

I think the Republicans need his vote in the House though, hence why they're not cutting him loose (yet).
Oh yay. Such a fruitful, productive use of the Republicans time 🙄

I do agree with them on one though - the withdrawal from Afghanistan was pretty poorly handled and should be looked into, but the rest of these are just right-wing "witch hunts", to quote a certain orange buffoon.
Also: looks like George Santos is going to try digging in and not resign: https://www.politico.com/news/2023/01/11/local-n-y-gop-leaders-to-call-on-george-santos-to-resign-00077450

Gee, I wonder why. Stop and have a think about it, you election-denying, conspiracy-theory-spreading, Trump-loving creep. Maybe when you look at how you've treated Joe and the Democrats, maybe then you'll understand why they have such contempt towards you 🙄
