The protesters cars causing obstruction should be towed to the pound. In Invercargill.

This antivaxxer really tried to push the envelope with his lawsuit...which failed miserably. Nice try.

They must have changed it, earlier I believe that article said they had started towing vehicles.

Just a modern day version of the Springbok tour protests. The moral justifications will be different in many peoples eyes but the disrespect for other peoples/public property and other fellow citizens rights is pretty much the same.

I wonder how many will be left after the wild weather hits this weekend. Maybe that's what the police are waiting for.

Not quite - those were 50/50 with the country fairly evenly divided; this is more like 5/95. Just the 5 are extremely loud.

The split is irrelevant, I was referring to the disrespect of other people and their property. Just because the country might have been evenly divided (I'm not sure it was from my memory) it doesn't make disrespect for people and property any more or less acceptable.

If I were the police that's what I would do. Then while they were gone erect a fence.

Donut Express. On Stuff:

"Donut Express has set up a food truck on Molesworth St, near the protesters' food tent, and is giving away free donuts.

General manager Keith Jaques said his staff were giving away free doughnuts to “anyone that’s hungry”.

He said a “call went out [on social media] for anyone who wanted to provide support” and they responded.

“I don’t know the details of what the protest is about. From our point of view we’re just giving back to the community,” Jaques said. All of his staff were vaccinated and wearing masks, he said."

In real life just another business that sides with the anti-vaxxers, covid-deniers and other crazies:

Are they really donating the donuts or is someone sponsoring their "generosity"?

Same thing happening in Wellington today as well. Seems unusual that donuts are free at both places.

I guess the thinking among us will choose to spend their donut money elsewhere.

The devils donut !

There is a global metaverse money go around. Patrons donating money in return for soundbites,
videos, affirmation their crusade has global resonance.

Antivax is a very well financed movement and expanding to a general army of many disaffections just helps numbers. Ultagreen or Ultraright all welcome.
Most of these messages come from about a dozen wealthy supporters. About 73% of Facebook content.
https://www.stuff.co.nz/national/health/coronavirus/300260979/disinformation-dozen-launch-65pc-of-antivax-messages

We saw this with Samoa and measeles outbreak pounded with antivax messaging.

The right wing neo-nazi connections to the Canadian protest, and some questionable holocaust messaging attached to ours. Its no surprise that NZ white power movements find this all attractive.

Then we have the USA style Evangelical and Pentecostals, with a certain leader who would love revenge. Nothing like any disgusting action you take will be absolved by God to power things along.

Yes some actually think they can storm parliament and possession is 9/10 of law they they can run the country. Fantasies like this about rights that don't exist, making people think they risk no sanction.
NZ protests can feed into videos and interviews talking about a global movement.

5/95??

More like .5/99.5

Same genre as the Trump alt-right neoliberals. Except they got inside, and weren't egged on by the "Government"
