kingdragonfly: Trump talk to farmers:

“Someday it will become time for them to leave this beautiful earth, and they’ll be able to leave their farm without taxes to their children,

... assuming they still own a farm after the damage my trade war with China and other trade disputes has done to the US farming industry, requiring some of the biggest farming bailouts ever, but in any case most of them went to the nation's biggest farms, not the little guys who I expect to vote for me. So you don't have to worry about death taxes because you probably won't own your farm any more. MAGA!

Oho!

https://www.stuff.co.nz/world/us-canada/300835111/donald-trump-supporters-shrug-off-calls-for-protests-ahead-of-expected-arrest

Unsurprisingly, a large number of Trump supporters are now "once bitten, twice shy" - especially after a number of them put everything on the line for him on January 6, and were basically left to rot in jail, receiving no legal help whatsoever from him.

Also: “I don’t think people should protest this. I think President Trump, when you talk to him, he doesn’t think that either,” [Kevin] McCarthy said. What a load of bs. If he didn't think that, he wouldn't have said it.

I'm sure some people will be there to protest if he gets arrested, but I highly doubt you'll see the numbers that turned up on January 6.

Donald and Boris defend themselves from the Deep State

REUTERS - New York City braces for Trump indictment after ex-president urges protests

NEW YORK, March 20 (Reuters) - Workers erected barricades around a Manhattan courthouse on Monday as New York City braced for a possible indictment of Donald Trump over an alleged hush-money payment to porn star Stormy Daniels during his 2016 campaign.

It would be the first-ever criminal case against any U.S. president. On Saturday, Trump urged followers on social media to protest what he said was his looming arrest.

As I said earlier, I have a feeling a number of people who were caught up in his crap re January 6 will most likely just sit this one out, especially as it was MAGA - Many Are Getting Arrested, and Trump basically just hung them out to dry after doing his bidding during the insurrection and walked away with no legal help or anything at all.

If I had been burned by the orange buffoon I'd be taking a good hard look at what's going on before supporting him a second time around.

In the US (and elsewhere) there is a constitutional division of powers: state and federal.

You constantly hear Republicans herald this division of power, for everything from gun rights to abortion to school funding.

So if you're working out of Washington DC, like senators, house representatives, the FBI, the DOJ, etc, your jurisdiction is only federal.

Note the states run the same roles, but again only at the state level.

If you kidnap someone in a state, it's a state crime. If you cross state lines, it's a federal crime.

In other words, you can not demand jurisdiction over a federal over a state matter.

In this case, Trump's indictment is New York state's jurisdiction.

It's literally unconstitutional for federal officials to get officially involved.

Republicans accidentally SCREW THEMSELVES trying to save Trump

I'm kinda glad that it looks like first blood is "Trump had an affair with a porn star. Paid for her silence"

Much easier to understand than treason, sedition, attempted coup, racketeering, conspiracy, voter fraud, perverting the course of justice.

Also known by Trump as a "Monday"

The NY Times - Jimmy Kimmel Celebrates ‘the Calm Before the Stormy’

21 March 2023

“The truth is, there’s no good reason for Trump to be in any of this trouble.

If Casa-no-brain had just paid Stormy Daniels the $130,000 himself out of his Pizza Hut money or whatever, he wouldn’t be in this situation. He wouldn’t have an issue in New York.

So many of his legal problems are based on him being an idiot.

If President Karen hadn’t picked up the phone and called around Georgia, asking to speak to its manager to find 11,000 votes, he wouldn’t have an issue in Georgia.

If he just tweeted the words ‘Calm down, go home’ four hours earlier like everyone, including his daughter, told him to, he wouldn’t have an issue on Jan. 6.

And if the great white hope chest hadn’t boxed up his love letters from the Saudis and Kim Jong-un - if he hadn’t squirreled them out of the White House and into the rec room at Golf-a-logo - he wouldn’t have an issue with the F.B.I.

In every case, the reason he’s in trouble is because he is the dumbest criminal in the world. He brought this all on himself. He’s Al Ca-BoneHead, is what he is.” — JIMMY KIMMEL

Judge rules that Trump may have committed crime with his lawyer. This is a big deal because lawyer can now be compelled to testify before grand jury without claiming executive privilege. See article for details.

(This is a photoshopped image from a meme generator)

The Guardian -  Trump wants to be handcuffed for court appearance in Stormy Daniels case

today

Donald Trump has told advisers that he wants to be handcuffed when he makes an appearance in court, if he is indicted by a Manhattan grand jury for his role in paying hush money to adult film star Stormy Daniels ...

Trump has reasoned that since he would need to go to the courthouse and surrender himself to authorities for fingerprinting and a mug shot, sources said, he might as well turn everything into a “spectacle”.

Trump’s increasing insistence that he wants to be handcuffed behind his back for a perp walk appears to come from various motivations, including that he wants to project defiance in the face of what he sees as an unfair prosecution and that it would galvanize his base for his 2024 presidential campaign.

But above all, sources said he was deeply anxious that any special arrangements – like making his first court appearance by video link or skulking into the courthouse – would make him look weak or like a loser.

They should rename the Republican party "the victim party"

How do they bear such a heavy burden? (◔_◔)

Politico The Grand Old Party of Crybabies

...Conservatives have victimhood complexes these days; we are, after all, a nation of victims now. All that differs is whom we see as our oppressors.

The worst victimhood narrative that afflicts modern conservatives is their budding belief that any election they lose must have been stolen.

Instead of distinguishing ourselves as the party that strives for excellence and rejects the easy path of victimhood narratives, we simply created our own.
