https://thehill.com/homenews/campaign/4108696-poll-shows-biden-beating-trump-even-if-manchin-runs/ could the worm be turning, maybe?

"No Labels, a political group that has been pushing for a [conservative] third-party bid, hosted an event Monday headlined by Manchin and Utah Governor Jon Huntsman (Republican), fueling speculation that the duo could appear as a bipartisan third-party ticket."

Please, do it.

A liberal candidate named Ralph Nader ran against other liberal Al Gore. Nader won enough votes in two states, to cost Al Gore the election.

(Al Gore won the popular vote despite Ralph Nader, but the moldy, anachronistic electoral college threw it to George W. Bush, because why change something that predates rubber balloons, canned food and the telegraph)

Here's the flip side when a conservative third party got involved, and got Bill Clinton elected.

presidential candidate --- political party --- popular votes
Bill Clinton --- Democratic --- 44,909,889
George H W Bush --- Republican --- 39,104,545
Ross Perot --- Conservative --- 19,742,267

Donald Trump is the puppeteer [of the Retrumplicans] and what does he do all of the time but shine the light on the strings.

Is he panicking yet? I hope the indictment presses on full steam ahead.

I was reading about Watergate (here) this morning as I wasn't overly familiar with it - as it all happened before I was born - and was trying to determine which one was worse, Watergate or Trump's election fraud bs?

Compared to Trump, Nixon was a saint. Watergate was also small beans: The Democratic headquarters was burgled by blunderers, searching for any information that might help the GOP gain an edge.

Trump has been directly responsible for worldwide chaos and the deaths of millions.

Trump crowned? No faux King way!

And lying to try and corrupt an election for President of the United States. The guy is a menace.

And Nixon need not have resigned if the Republicans had continued to back him which they did not.

Trump could shoot dead a nun on live TV and the GOP would still back him.

So what happened between what Nixon did (and Republicans disowning him) and what Trump did (and Republicans throwing themselves at his feet)? I guess part of it might be that some Republicans are scared of Trump's base and what they might do if they dare to oppose him?

The country is vastly more polarised than it was 50 years ago. You do what your Fuehrer/party says, right or wrong. Look at how many people voluntarily gave their lives during Covid to demonstrate their allegiance to the Retrumplicans.

Not necessarily. All he has to do is run out the clock till the election and then shut down any investigations and pardon himself.

The NY Times - Trump Faces Major New Charges in Documents Case

breaking

Federal prosecutors on Thursday added major accusations to an indictment charging former President Donald J. Trump with mishandling classified documents after he left office, saying he told a maintenance worker at Mar-a-Lago that he wanted security camera footage there to be deleted.

The revised indictment also added three serious charges against Mr. Trump - attempting to “alter, destroy, mutilate, or conceal evidence”; inducing someone else to do so; and a new count, the 32nd, under the Espionage Act stemming from a classified national security document he showed to visitors at his golf club in Bedminster, N.J.

...   bringing the total number of federal charges against Trump to 40.   The walls are closing in on The Don.   🧐

But will it close before elections, when he will shout "persecution" and be heard?
