Mashable: No, Tucker Carlson's Trump interview doesn't have 230 million video views on X

On Wednesday night, former Fox News host Tucker Carlson interviewed former president Donald Trump on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter. Now, Trump and his supporters are claiming that Carlson's video has received hundreds of millions of views on Elon Musk's social media site. That's not the case.
...
Views are counted whenever a tweet shows up on a user's timeline. As such, a single user can be counted multiple times in the view count.

On the other hand, video views, which are no longer publicly displayed on X, count the number of times a piece of media content is played on the platform —although there are a few addendums to this metric. A video view on X is counted if the media plays for two or more seconds.

And, if a user attempts to scroll past a video, but more than 50 percent of the player is still visible on the screen for that time frame, a video view is still counted.

Autoplays are counted as well.

https://www.politico.com/news/magazine/2023/08/25/ipsos-poll-trump-indictment-00112755 Some fairly worrying poll numbers for Trump and co here in light of recent events - especially amongst Independents: a portion of the electorate I don't believe he's ever tried to reach out to or win over.

If these translate into election results for him, it doesn't look good at this stage - worse if he gets convicted, especially on the 2020 election fraud charge.

You are an optimist - but I sincerely hope that you're right.  😉

In the Georgia trial, Trump's co-defendants lack of cohesion points to an cascade of prisoners' dilemmas: the first rat wins, will got off lightly, while the rest lose, get serious jailtime.

Two of Trump's co-defendants in RICO [Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations] trial want speedy trial.

This is bad news for Trump.

I love the observation that "oh, so her [Sidney Powell's] middle name is Catherine, not Kraken".

First of two defendant's up, Sidney "The Kraken" Powell picked the wrong part of the country to pull her stunt, Georgia. As a side note, it's 33% African American.

She is toast.

When the US civil war ended in 1865, South states passed new laws to restrict the voting rights of African Americans.

In Mississippi in 1964, Rosie Head remembers her attempt to register to vote. The local clerk used police dogs to try to intimidate her and other women.

"The chancellor clerk had said to me, ‘Now, I know you know better!’ He knew my grandparents. ‘I’ve known your people for years and years, and I know you know better. What are you doing out here anyway?’ And so, I told him what I wanted. And he said, ‘You go home and do like your mama and your grandmama did. You don’t need to come out here. This ain’t for black folk.’"

Eventually many laws with strict criminal sentencing were passed in Southern states around voting.

That brings us to the case brought by the Georgia District Attorney Fani Willis against Sidney "The Kraken" Powell. The DA alleges Powell illegally accessed and removed computer voting data from a Georgia County Board of Elections. Powell hired a Georgia-based forensic data firm to help access the data in the election equipment, Dominion Voting Systems equipment.

On 18 December 2020, Trump and other alleged co-conspirators met and discussed ways to overturn the results of the election. They appointed Powell to seize voting equipment.

She emailed firm she hired instructing that she and others should receive a copy of all data obtained.

The employees set out to remove and examine voting data, from Dominion Voting Systems, tamper with electronic ballot markers and tabulating machines, and remove official ballots from polling locations

Powell lied in a May 2022 deposition before the U.S. House Select Committee investigating the Jan. 6 attack, saying that she "didn’t have any role in really setting up” the efforts to access the voting data in Coffee County or in Michigan, didn’t know what happened and couldn’t remember whether the effort was led by Giuliani or others."

Reuters - Divided US embraces Trump mug-shot merchandise

WASHINGTON, Aug 25 (Reuters) - Former U.S. President Donald Trump's historic mug shot, posted by a Georgia courthouse on Thursday evening, is being turned into T-shirts, shot glasses, mugs, posters and even bobblehead dolls by friends and foes alike.

The shot of Trump with a red tie, glistening hair, and an icy scowl was taken as the Republican presidential front-runner was arrested on more than a dozen felony charges, part of a criminal case stemming from his attempts to overturn the 2020 election.

Supporters and campaign managers have embraced the image of his arrest, as they rally around Trump's claims that the charges against him are politically motivated.

To critics, the photo is a symbol that his long list of legal woes has finally caught up to him.

Trump's Save America fundraising committee is selling "NEVER SURRENDER!" mug shot t-shirts ($34.00), beverage holders ($15.00 for two) and coffee mugs ($25.00). His son Don Jr. is marketing "FREE TRUMP" mug shot t-shirts ($29.99) and posters ($19.99).

EDIT :  Reuters - Trump raised $7.1 million since he was booked at Atlanta jail

Aug 26 (Reuters) - Former President Donald Trump has raised nearly $20 million in the past three weeks, a period that roughly coincides with his indictment in federal and state cases connected to his false claims that the 2020 election was stolen from him ...

Since appearing Thursday to have his mug shot taken in a racketeering and fraud case in Atlanta, Georgia, the former president brought in $7.1 million ...
