Tinkerisk:

I am patiently waiting for the day when all these mongrels behind bars can think long and hard about their bullshit.

I think well before then. I can imagine Giuliani sitting in a sleazy bedsit, thinking fondly back on the days when he was married to his cousin while drinking cheap vanilla extract, contemplating what may have been if he didn't follow Trump.

Note Trump has had plenty of time to prepare.

Contrary to Trump's lawyer's lie of "giving the former president less than two months to prepare a defence", just one month after Trump’s infamous January 2021 phone call to suggest Georgia’s secretary of state could overturn his election loss, the Fulton County district attorney announced she was looking into possible illegal “attempts to influence” the results.

NZ Herald: https://www.nzherald.co.nz/world/donald-trump-pleads-not-guilty-in-georgia-election-subversion-case-and-seeks-to-sever-his-case-from-others/I6RGSLLPKBBBFF7KNZHACPD5ZE/

Former President Donald Trump pleaded not guilty and sought to sever his case from other defendants who are accused along with him of illegally trying to overturn the results of the 2020 election in Georgia.

Fulton County Superior Court Judge Scott McAfee had set arraignment hearings for Trump and the 18 others charged in the case for September 6. A court filing waiving arraignment means Trump won’t have to show up for that.

The decision to skip an in-person appearance averts the dramatic arraignments that have accompanied the three other criminal cases Trump faces, in which the Republican former president has been forced amid tight security into a courtroom and entered “not guilty” pleas before crowds of spectators. Georgia courts have fairly permissive rules on news cameras in the courtroom, and this step means Trump won’t have to enter a plea on television.
...
An attorney for Trump also asked McAfee to separate his case from those of defendants who have asked for an expedited trial that is scheduled to start on October 23. Giving the former president less than two months to prepare a defence against a 98-page indictment would “violate President Trump’s federal and state constitutional rights to a fair trial and due process of law”, attorney Steve Sadow said in a court filing.

Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis has said she wants all of the defendants tried together, and she has asked the judge to set an October 23 trial date for everyone.

The motion adds to the pre-trial legal jousting that has dominated the two weeks since the indictment was brought, underscoring the complexities inherent in attempting to bring 19 defendants to trial at once and foreshadowing the delays ahead as judges sift through competing arguments from the defendants.

Evangelicals were right, Trump was sent by God to save the world !
According to Trump :-)

Trump in deposition says he averted ‘nuclear holocaust.’
https://thehill.com/regulation/court-battles/4180726-trump-in-deposition-says-he-averted-nuclear-holocaust/

""
“I think you would have nuclear holocaust, if I didn’t deal with North Korea,” Trump said. “I think you would have a nuclear war, if I weren’t elected. And I think you might have a nuclear war now, if you want to know the truth.”

Trump said his sons, Donald Trump Jr. and Eric Trump, both of whom currently serve as executive vice presidents at the Trump organization and are named in the suit, saw their roles change once he came president.

“They became more intensely involved with the company, I was virtually not involved at all,” Trump said. “I rarely — I’d rarely have anything to do with anything having to do with the company.”
""

Seems to be prepping the next defense, if I don't get a pass for 'saving the world'
If there is any wrongdoing my children, did it.

Trump such a great father.

IF this guy is not an autocratic dictator wannabe... Donald Trump vows to lock up political enemies if he returns to White House | Donald Trump | The Guardian

Beck said: “Do you regret not locking [Clinton] up? And if you’re president again, will you lock people up?”

Trump said: “The answer is you have no choice, because they’re doing it to us.”

Trump told Beck that Biden was behind the indictments against him. In fact, all were brought by prosecutors independent of the White House: 44 by the justice department special counsel Jack Smith, 34 by the Manhattan district attorney, Alvin Bragg, and 13 by Fani Willis, the district attorney of Fulton county, Georgia.

Trump also claimed “the woman that I never met, that they accused me of rape, that’s being run by a Democrat, a Democrat operative, and paid for by the Democrat [sic] party”.

That was a reference to civil claims brought by E Jean Carroll, a writer who says Trump sexually assaulted her in New York in the 1990s. Earlier this year, Trump was found liable for sexual abuse and defamation and fined about $5m. A second trial is due next year. The judge in the case has said Trump has been adjudicated a rapist.

Also facing investigations of his business affairs, Trump said Democrats and other opponents were “sick people … evil people”.

The twice impeached, four times indicted, 91 times charged ex-president also told Beck he “always had such great respect for the office of the president and the presidency”.

I like the last paragraph.

RNZ: Donald Trump's Georgia case to be livestreamed

A judge has ruled that court proceedings against former US President Donald Trump and his co-defendants in their Georgia election fraud case will be televised.

The trial will also be live-streamed on YouTube, Fulton County Superior Court Judge Scott McAfee also said.
...
All 19 defendants in the case - including Trump - are charged with violating Georgia's Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organisations Act, commonly known as the Rico act.

Across the US and at the federal level, Rico laws are used to help prosecutors connect underlings who broke the law with those who gave orders or organised the crime.

Fulton County's District Attorney, Fani Willis, a Democrat, has increasingly come under fire from some Republicans and Trump allies for her decision to indict Trump in the case.

Earlier in August, State Senator Colton Moore sent a letter to Georgia Governor Brian Kemp, a fellow Republican, calling for a special session to impeach Willis.

At a Thursday news conference, Kemp said he had yet to see evidence that such a move would be justified.

"As long as I am governor, we're going to follow the law and the Constitution, regardless of who it helps or harms politically," the governor said.

Trump pushes back on allegations he inflated net worth in a Truth Social post, in a long unbroken stream of lies.

Of the 91 felony counts, he seems to be most upset about that he's poorer than he claims.

It was of course in ALL CAPS, no bullet points

I've re-formatted

"The thing I have is a great case based on phenomenal numbers that show
  • a net worth billions of dollars more than she viciously & falsely claimed
  • very little debt
  • big cash
  • a powerful disclaimer clause
  • paid off loans
  • no defaults
  • “happy” banks
  • great assets
I was defamed by New York State – election interference!"

Yahoo news: Fox News presenter Jesse Watters under fire for saying Trump’s mug shot boosted his popularity among Black Americans

Jesse Watters, the Fox News host who succeeded Tucker Carlson in the network’s primetime evening slot, has again drawn criticism by praising Donald Trump’s recent mug shot, suggesting the image is only likely to increase the disgraced former president’s appeal to America’s Black community.

Mr Watters invited ridicule last week when he reacted to the shot of Mr Trump ... “The mug shot turned Trump into a sympathetic character in Black America. Don’t underestimate the power of a famous mug shot.”
...
“Over the weekend, with the help of mugshot merchandise, the Trump campaign raked in over $7m. Today, my garbage man told me he’s buying mugshot T-shirts for everyone he knows this Christmas.

“The mugshot is up on the side of buildings in the inner city. The 2016 phenomenon is happening all over again. Trump won that election because of a laser-like focus on the Forgotten Man. A bond was formed back then that can never be broken. And there’s a new Forgotten Man, the Black man.”

An extract of Mr Watters’ soliloquy was posted on X by the media monitor Acyn, who also pointed out the “inner city” mural invoked was actually captioned: “M.A.G.A. My A** Got Arrested.”

PBS: Conservatives aim to restructure U.S. government and replace it with Trump’s vision

With more than a year to go before the 2024 election, a constellation of conservative organizations is preparing for a possible second White House term for Donald Trump, recruiting thousands of Americans to come to Washington on a mission to dismantle the federal government and replace it with a vision closer to his own.

Led by the long-established Heritage Foundation think tank and fueled by former Trump administration officials, the far-reaching effort is essentially a government-in-waiting for the former president’s second term — or any candidate who aligns with their ideals and can defeat President Joe Biden in 2024.

With a nearly 1,000-page “Project 2025” handbook and an “army” of Americans, the idea is to have the civic infrastructure in place on Day One to commandeer, reshape and do away with what Republicans deride as the “deep state” bureaucracy, in part by firing as many as 50,000 federal workers.

“We need to flood the zone with conservatives,” said Paul Dans, director of the 2025 Presidential Transition Project and a former Trump administration official ...

Especially scary when it seems inevitable that a Trump like candidate will eventually win the Presidency at the same time as Republicans have the Senate and Congress.

If this restructuring were to ever come about it will signal the end of the USA as we know it. What's the point of having a federal system when there are no effective federal agencies.

Oddly enough, all those GOP senators and congressmen would then be out of a job.
