I think on the basis that he is likely to win, due to gerrymandering and the way in which the electoral system is set up in the US, if I were a political oponent of Trump and was wanting to ensure my physical survival post-election, I'd be looking for a new country to live in.

Apparently, if elected, he intends to appoint Luke Skywalker as head of the Space Force after watching Star Wars which he identified as a documentary.

Republican negative campaigning trying to avoid Democrats voting for Biden if they cannot persuade Democrats to vote for Trump - has some appearance of success with the age cognitive polls and all that going on. It is unclear if that will affect the vote on the day.

The reality is many presidents have made slips of this nature. Ronald Reagan was very well managed. George.W.Bush was legendary for getting things wrong. People mostly put that down to previous heavy alcohol use and rumors of previous drug use which he partially admitted had occurred earlier in his life when he was a 'child', age 35. The constant gaffes did not affect his electoral chances much at all.

There is every chance Trump will be defeated at the ballot box. Vote.

This opinion piece comes from a publication that strongly opposes Trump:   😟

The Guardian -  Biden and the Democrats are sleepwalking into a potential Trump win

06 March 2024

Tuesday’s results can’t really have been a surprise to anyone who has paid close attention to the campaign thus far. ...

Who’s ahead?

All but a handful of high-quality national polls taken since January say it’s Trump. A New York Times poll fairly representative of the rest that drew a significant amount of media attention over the weekend put Trump ahead by five points, 48-43%, among registered voters. That’s the largest lead Trump has held in a Times poll since he launched his first presidential campaign in 2015.

Meanwhile, Biden, more unpopular than ever, sits at an approval rating of 38%. Ten per cent of those who voted for him in 2020 now say they will vote for Trump.

And the demographic picture the poll paints is dire – not only for Biden but perhaps for the Democratic party as a whole. ...

The Biden campaign’s response to these numbers has been simple: all of the polls are wrong. ...

Biden needs to find a new course. Otherwise, the election may be over before he realizes it.

It was very effective last time round, this didn't get much publicity but Trump's team used Facebook analytics at a level most people would be gobsmacked by (Cambridge Analytica were rank amateurs compared to what Facebook gives you), and one of the tactics they employed if nothing else worked was that they'd run anti-Hillary ads to get people to at least not vote for the other side.

Trump endorses for North Carolina governor: The gay hating Hitler reading antisemitic and holocaust denying Mark Robinson. Every sad crying word in that sentence is true:

The Advocate: The conservative has also used his Facebook account to call reports of the Holocaust "hogwash" and deny the widely accepted fact that at least 6 million Jews were killed in Nazi Germany, according to local news outlet WRAL.

Many Jewish conservative commentators hold Trump responsible for making antisemitism commonplace in the public sphere since 2016. More horrors await you at the link.

The issue for many of these billionaires in the US is that Trump is so vindictive that if they don't support him and he gets in, he's likely to remember...or at least he'll have people that remember for him and stoke the rage-fire.
At that point the gloves are off and they find it hard to continue to do business with the Govt, any Republican-aligned business and of course the wider American economic playground.

So what you're saying is that Trump is a biological form of Roko's Basilisk.

Great quote from a YT chat covering "The State of the Nation" Biden speech.
