Good news, Dotcom's actually at number 99. But those sort of lists make no sense. Why would Judy Bailey, former newsreader be so "trusted"?

Good gravy I would trust Tony Abbott before Dotcom and I wouldn't trust Abbott to look after my garbage.

So no one has actually put forth a legitimate reason not to vote for the Internet Party (apart from the fact that they signed up with Mana).

They have policies on other topics which actually sound good for New Zealand.

As for their policy of giving every household an internet connection, it's basically a modern version of giving every household a free simple landline with everything else being extras.

I have a legitimate reason(s) not to vote for them, I disagree with their policies, I do not like their people and do not like their partnership.

The government is already spending 1.5 Billion on the UFB rollout, I don't think I'd support any party that wants to spend even more.

The Mana <> Internet Party deal makes no sense to me what has a hard left Maori sovereignty party got to do with the Internet. Sue Bradford seemed to be the only Mana member with the integrity to quit over this farce.

Even the name "Internet Party" is stupid.... brb starting the "Cloud Party".

Their first draft policy was announnced as one of " forcing the Government to apologise to the 87 people illegally spied on by the Government’s spy agency"

I could but would be more interesting if you give me your reasons that they are there to benefit them and not for other political reasons.

I personally as much as I think dotcom may be shifty, I'm glad someone with enough money and good lawyers can keep the rest of politicians with too much money a run for there's. Really, the government are no morally better considering all their screw ups with how they handled the whole situation back then.

If dotcom is serious, and the cost of international connectivity is a big decision in deciding not to house big data centres here as opposed to latency, then I'm all for it. It's certainly a cooler climate as far as air-conditiong bills go. It's about time NZ became more digitally competitive to overseas interests.

I think they should stick more to the fact they are wanting to be more socially accessable and just call it the Internet party - meaning more digitally interactive and accessable than the current fossils in parliment's way of communicating more in a one way fashion online.

I like the Avaaz movement and I'd be really keen to see national and local government get more digitally conencted with people and that's the audience I think dotcom's going after the most. I think on those grounds he may just do quite well.

On cheaper Internet, if it's for residential customers, well we know that won't change in a hurry when there's more cost involved in the last few miles than overseas. At least without regulation. I'm not for it nore against it.

As for the words socialist in other posts, come on, most political parties including National have very socialist policies. I don't like the word socialist used as a dividing factor between people anymore than convervatists or coporatocracy as the current way of doing things.

I had to laugh at the ignorance of last elections stand off on TV between John and Phil, one of them said we'd partner with the other biggest political party and in their own ignorance were clearly lying because the other biggest party was the one debating them lol. I almost fell off my chair at how narrow minded politicians minds are.

Internet Party, hey, go for it! Why not, tall poppy syndrome isn't the answer.

I don't see Internet and Mana being a working fit. Its a vehicle whoose wheels are held on by very different philosophies, and I doubt it'll be long before some of them start turning in opposite directions.

On the plus side:
I think they'll get some more folk out to vote
we'll see Laila Harre back in
and it'll end up burning Hone

On the negative side:
they'll probably end up disappointing most of the those that vote for them, which will mean they're unlikely to vote next time ( or again)
they'll be (negatively) disruptive

It doesn't matter what you like or don't like, or whether you think that there are fairies at the bottom of your garden. Socialism is a real thing. It's a political ideology with its roots in the 18th century and has a major impact on the world ever since. It has resulted in royal families being massacred, civil wars and more mundanely the establishment of the trade union movement. People have been using it correctly, and you may even find that some of them come from families who have been displaced by war or political unrest. I appreciate the point you're trying to make but making it that way just insults people's intelligence and history.
