Since they are focusing hugely on the internet and how much it costs to customers I thought I would ask people here what your opinion is on them and their policies. They mostly want to cut the price of internet connections in half and provide a a certain amount of data for free. I would be interested to see what the users here who work for ISPs have to say.

Share your view on the IP policies.

Short answer: amusement.

Longer answer: Generally net neutrality and privacy don't fit well with a socialist agenda. The most frightening calls for curtailing Internet freedom in NZ have been from the left. The world's remaining socialist counties generally have heavily filtered and monitored internet access. It will also be interesting to see how the Internet-Mana party copes with the Internet as a force to disrupt and replace traditional production and distribution.

I'm amused that they're cannibalising the Greens vote tho. But on the bright side they may encourage the young to vote, but they're likely in that aspect to be like the Greens, you vote for them the first time and then you realise it's not in your, the country's, or the environment's interest to do so again.

Seriously? Do you think a government/party has the economic power to mandate "cut the price of internet connections in half and provide a a certain amount of data for free"?

Before worrying about that I'd see what a party plans are for education, health, housing, jobs, external relations, safety, business support, etc (the list can go on for some time before reaching "internet".

I think they deserve a chance, Most of the people that are bashing them are opposition parties or haven't read their policies, Or they just don't like dotcom (who isnt even a member) also there is no policy in there to stop him being extradited. If he is extradited the party will go on

They are doing cool new things like having a party forum and incubator to discuss what their policies should be etc. And it would be great to see other people in parliment apart from rich old men

I actually was feeling happy we didn't have an "Internet party" discussion here - it lasted quite a long time before one showed up.

Wouldn't want them in government. This kind of agenda only needs a referendum not an entire Internet party. Also we already have a fibre roll out.

They seem to think that if everybody has access to the internet in their homes then suddenly all our problems will be solved. They're a bit like the Aotearoa Legalise Cannabis Party who think that legalising weed will also solve all our problems and make everything perfect.

Yeah, Im not sure how I feel about that either. I feel like they would've been better independent. However this way they should get more votes

You have to enrol whether or not you intend to vote.

As for the topic itself, I believe that the Internet is working well enough without a dedicated party. How many other countries can boast a national fibre network?

Bunch of idiots. I guess some people will vote for them just to see how much damage they can do, I'm not sure whether that is an effective voting strategy.
