I thought this was a technology forum!
There are plenty of sites where people can argue their political ideology.
Pity I can't escape it here.

KiwiNZ: Based on US politics all our party's would be centre or left of centre.

Fully agree with you here. I remember a few years ago when people were comparing US to NZ politics and my american friend compared the Democrats to national, the Republicans to Act... and the Tea party are just a crazy group of nutters.

Perhaps he meant 'in the world' rather than 'in a very small bit of it called Noo Zilland/Ortyrower"?

I suspect moreso it was meant to be 1.2million, rather than 1.2billion. The millions figure would put it in line with most of the authoritative population predictions. The most common projection for the global figure for +20years is somewhere around 1 billion, hitting 1.2b at around +25years.

+1 for find another place for venting your political bias/opinions please.

I come here to read about thing related to the expected intention of the forum.

No objection to politics related to the issues pertinant to the essence of the forum, but this type of +&*(  degrades the whole purpose of having this forum.

Go away and start your own forum for geeks who want to talk about other things.

I can appreciate that many GZ readers aren't interested in politics - or at least engaging (or reading) polticial debate on this site, but really how hard is it to just not click on posts with  a clearly political title?

This thread even has "politicians" in the title!

The reality is I'm not sufficiently interested in (or have the time to read) a majority of posts GZ - I'll continue to select those I read based on their title. How is that not a feasible option for all?

Personally, I've been a follower of politics since I was eight, but have read less of (and generally stopped contributing to) these political threads as I find much of the debate ill-informed posturing and a sad inditement upon the standards of thought in NZ - however I'm certainly not going to suggest these people don't have the right to make these posts! To ban these discussions then, to be consistent, would mean the "Off Topic" forum would need to be far more tightly controlled.

I guess one option is to have a "politics" or similar forum, which could mean those subscribing to alerts to new threads in the "Off Topic" forum won't get notified of these?

I am at a loss for words.

*Looking at your number of posts*

I am sorry, again? I should go away?

Someone with time needs have a look at the NZ Stats data.  I'm pretty sure NZ is well past peak baby boomer retirement.

Have not followed the debates. But it seems to me like speaking over someone else shouldn't be allowed in those debates. It might make for "great drama". But it would be nice to have political discussions that are not scripted like a bad Reality-TV episode.
