This muppet seems to need to retake math:

In the next 20 years we're going to have a doubling of the number of people over 65 - there will be 1.2 billion people over the age of 65

Quote: Wayne Walford (National).

Asked by members of the audience if he had meant to say million, rather than billion, Mr Walford initially stood by what he had said.

"I'm sure my notes said 1.2 billion but that's okay, I'm happy to be corrected on that," he said, adding that he would double-check the figure himself.

"It's a large number, anyway. Whatever it is, it is a strong component of our economy moving forward."

Goodness gracious is this really worthy of a thread or is it just another political trolling thread.

Maybe a trendsetter and we should all start threads based on mistakes politicians make, should clog up the forum for the rest of the week then we can start threads for winners and losers.

Be happy when the election is over tongue-out

Those pesky oldies are breeding like flies. Sometimes popping out two or three new oldie offspring a day!

I seriously think that on both sides of the political spectrum we are seeing more and more muppes that are nothing more than talking heads.

The whole election seems more like a beauty pageant of who is better at saying the catch phrases some think tank has come up with than actually having any smarts about what would make life better for the people they might be elected to govern.

So stupid politicians saying stupid things is definitely worth a thread if you ask me.

I really wonder if you would be responding the same way if it was a left wing party member. I doubt your response would be completely bipartisan if it were the case.

It would have been a typo in the speech notes.

All political parties employ speech writers to ensure the various candidates are singing the same tune.

I agree, not a good look. He should have read and understood the speech before delivering it.

wonder no more I would as I don't see that these political threads have any place on GZ forums, however I understand why they are but don't have to agree with it.

You may have noted I said "politicians" not left wing politicians, if I was just going tribal I would have come back with the many made by the left but didn't.

Besides all that is this really worth a thread its not earth shattering stuff is it, if it is then we have our priorities all wrong.

If you care to check the spectrum Conservatives and Act are on the right of centre the rest are left of centre to varying degree.
Based on US politics all our party's would be centre or left of centre.
