Big time. Labour will get the seat that's a 2 seat swing, plus the party vote will also go red. He should have hung on. All it takes is red face on Labour, some issue, and he might have saved it. His opponent is well known, that does make it tough

My prediction is that Labour will do quite well with Jacinda as leader. Far better than with Andrew Little. Greens will not really recover much after the Turei own goals. National will slip back a few more points but still just ahead of Labour. NZ First will do quite well & could surprise with a 'Shy Tory' 'Shy Trump' voter effect. 538.com got it all wrong with the US election. Could it be the NZ polling companies turn to screw up big time? Maybe 1996 all over again seeing Winston is really tribal National at heart. He will get given some sweet ministerial role by Bill English & everyone except the left wing will be happy.

Yes, more likely that than a Labour coalition. But he gets on bad with so many Nats. With a younger newbie leading Labour, he may see more of his policies on the table

Can't see Peters in a happy coalition with the Nats, issues like Peters' $20/h minimum wage, immigration numbers would kill that. I don't like the term "fake news" but Peters has an issue with the the news media trying to make a big story out of the non-event of overpayment of his super - even though he'd repaid it before it was ever a story. That's the price he pays for getting lippy with the media - give them a hard time, and they'll respond in kind. The NZ Herald etc really need to naff off and find some real stories - they're (once again) starting again to look like a mouthpiece for the National Party.

I'm no fan of Peters - but for goodness sake... No way should that story be a front page headline for days on end. Herald should start reporting the news - not trying to make it.

I don't see his overpayment as significantly different from Turei's to be honest. What is not known is how/when the document was changed or incorrectly filled in, when he noticed the overpayment and how long it took to pay it back.

It could very well be a non story and the answers to the questions may all come back in Peters favour, but the questions absolutely have to be asked if the media is to have any credibility.
