for me the honours have little mana

I feel the same way.

The very name of it ( a knighthood FFS) is very anachronistic.

It is a shame that john key decided to take NZ backwards in that regard , i felt moving NZ to its' own honours system was a step towards a more independent future,

I don't agree with honors given to those just doing a job for which they are paid like politicians, business persons, civil servants, actors and entertainers etc.

I sort of agree, but I think there is special case for PMs, as the role is significantly underpaid, compared to what those people could earn in the private sector and overall a thankless and no doubt corrosive and tiring job.

I'd like to see more scientists and other innovators get honours.
