kingdragonfly: South Park gets banned in China.

I'm guessing the Chairman as Winnie the Pooh was the last straw

I'm only surprised it took this long.

The Chinese leadership sure must be fearful to keep banning stuff like this. Afraid of dissent, afraid of Muslims, afraid of pangolins, afraid of cartoon children. Especially afraid of ridicule, except they keep inviting it with all their terrified censorship. Afraid, afraid, afraid.

let's hope we don't start a war with China, though from my readings over the years I have no doubt the general idea of what's being said is completely true. this is not a new thing, just that nobody dares to bring it up.

now we have (and it's coming from within the governing party), it will be interesting to see what happens next.

Rikkitic,

Bellicose is a word for the leadership, wolf warriors and such of North Korea, China's CCP.

The average long suffering citizens we are all the same around a pot of tea or a few beers.

This guy who lived for several years in China.
Initially when there was much optimism for future, to the curtain going down again.
A perspective on meaning of public trust score, 17min not too long.

I was WRONG?!? 95% of Chinese support their Government!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2FjGDCgcBBE

Further down in survey the local Government score is 11.3% !

Loveable, yep they did it in the 30's, film reels of happy productive people in camps, learning new skills.

Interesting video. It brings to mind the Black Mirror episode about social credit (no, not the one with Skodas) which only a few years ago was a scary concept in a TV show, now a reality.

Why we should tightly regulate how much of our water be can exported to China.

Honestly importing cheap Chinese plastic bottles, filling plastic bottles by draining our aquifers for very little money, and few jobs, shipping water back to China doesn't make economic or environmental sense.

Even under ideal conditions replenishing an aquifers takes years. Creating plastic bottles and shipping it long distance doesn't help global warming.

Video summary:
  • most of China's water needs are where water is scare / unreliable.

  • half of China water is too polluted, even for irrigation.

  • In cities like Beijing, drinking water is scarce, and they could really use twice as much water per person

  • Chinese are already depleting their own aquifers. Do you trust them with ours?

Well CCP shows love to hackers.  Apparently

Very old fashioned , I'll hold the door open for you...  I'm sure they help the North Koreans too.

China 'propped open the door' for cyber criminals in Microsoft email hack, intelligence agency chief says
By political reporter Matthew Doran
China's actions exposed a weakness in Microsoft's email servers, according to Australian Signals Directorate chief Rachel Noble, while Home Affairs boss Mike Pezzullo says intelligence agencies urgently need more powers to intervene.

That article is not structured well. Headline:

Headline: Covid 19 coronavirus: Virus 'likely' came from Wuhan lab - WHO investigation head

All the actual quotes are similar to this:

Article: In a documentary released this week by the Danish television channel TV2, Dr Peter Embarek said it was a "likely hypothesis" that a lab employee could have picked up the virus while working in the field

This is very different to 'came from lab'. Adding to that, when many people hear 'came from lab' what they hear is 'genetically engineered in lab'.

The article body on the other hand is very clear there is no indication of modification.

To be loveable you must be Loved, Fake Love will do Eh

CCP reveals its use of invented westerners to bolster their correct view.
A bogus Swiss Scientist, naturally critical of the west.

LAB thing, well more important issue is that CCP has cut off ability to maintain surveillance.
Plenty of SARS versions in the field the world has no idea of, or access to now.
The whole thing with the workers that could not be interviewed, oh they want privacy.
Really does not work in an autocracy, if Party demands you do.

Real issue is that would probably reveal it was circulating in countryside months earlier where healthcare is poor.
