US troops in Iran racing against the clock before running out of ammo: report

Logistics is hard. MAGAnuts are stupid.

Definitely stupid. Even if it wasn't already pretty obvious when you just thought about it, the Ukraine war has proven that a swarm of dumb Shaheds flying in a straight line is orders of magnitude cheaper than the missiles you need to shoot them down.

US troops in Iran racing against the clock before running out of ammo: report

Logistics is hard. MAGAnuts are stupid.

U.S. troops in Iran are staring down a difficult situation in the wake of strikes that killed Iran's Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, according to a new report.

The Wall Street Journal reported on Sunday that U.S. troops are racing to destroy Iran's ballistic and nuclear missile facilities before they run out of interceptors to defend from Iranian retaliatory strikes. The exact size of the military's ammunition base is classified, but analysts and former officials who spoke to The Journal said the stockpile has been diminished after repeated conflicts in the region.

At the same time, military troops are working to fend off a series of retaliatory strikes from the Iranians. U.S. Central Command said on Saturday that they mounted a "largely successful defense against hundreds of Iranian missile and drone attacks," according to the report.

The first casualty of war is the truth. This story is stretching it to the limit.

Here is a crazy notion, lets give peace a chance.

Trump voted $500B a year every year extra that his department can't spend fast enough for worlds bigliest battleships.
Ukraine going on about air defense missile production, yeh ignore them.
Defense is so woke.

Iran would have utterly checkmated and stumped Trump.
If they had just offered the plutonium, with a golden FIFA peace medal.
A few bars of gold dressed up as an award like Mr Apple.

More importantly.
Photo-op and a very big hug from the Ayatollah.
Ayatollah had done more than hug Assad and Putin in their murderous ventures so no big deal.
Neither were of the chosen religion or sect anyways too.

Kim did the photo-op a love letter or two and he even keeps his nukes and still expands his capacity.

Keep the ballistic missiles, zillions on non nuclear missiles nothing to worry about. :-)

Mountains full of 100's thousands of ballistic missiles and drones seem to be worth far more than nukes.
At a fraction of the cost.

I have to wonder how this will affect Ukraine and Russia

Russia has expressed regret and diplomatic concern over Iranian disruptions, indicating it does not want escalation in the Middle East to spread to its own war theatre.

Russia's dependence on Iran for drones is less critical now than in the past, but the partnership remains useful.

Russia influence over/cooperation with Iran would be at least reduced for a year, because Iran’s leadership crisis is consuming its attention

Iran has hinted at shutting down the Strait of Hormuz, through which ~ 20% of global oil and gas flows. Any disruption whether real or threatened pushes global oil prices up, which may help Russia (unpredictability may actually hurt them).

Russia does not export significant crude via Hormuz. Its major export routes are through pipelines and ports in the Black Sea, Baltic Sea, and Arctic.

Russia and Iran had been planned joint a naval exercises near the Strait of Hormuz, so that ain't happening!

On the other hand Ukraine is officially happy that Iran is getting hammered. Though not stated, the added bonus that all retaliation with drones means less to sell to Russia.

US may raise pressure on Ukraine over ceasefire conditions using financial aid and arms supplies as leverage.

This also conveniently buries Ukraine in the news cycle — which suits Trump perfectly. Less public attention, less political cost for cutting Kyiv loose. Trump may get super friendly with his best bud Putin

Russia has invested a lot of effort and money in Iran. Any instability lots of these projects are under threat.

The next Iranian government may not be friendly to Russia.

The Washington Post - The 5-Minute Fix: Four things to know about Trump’s war with Iran

1. It’s not very clear why Trump is doing this  [the attack on Iran]

2. It’s not clear how long this could go on  [Trump has been vague about how long he is willing to continue]

3. It’s really, really unclear how this ends  [the potential is high for a long, drawn-out conflict]

4. This will probably raise gas prices  [oil prices have already begun to soar]

EDIT  Three American fighter jets were mistakenly downed by friendly Kuwaiti fire today during an Iranian air assault, the US military said.

Rubio says Israel's strike plan triggered US attack on Iran:

"We knew that there was going to be an Israeli action. We knew that that would precipitate an attack against American forces, and we knew that if we didn't preemptively go after them before they launched those attacks, we would suffer higher casualties," Rubio told reporters."

Weak. The correct response is to a) tell Israel to sit down and/or b) evacuate the places you already knew would be targets apart from the skeleton crews for air defense.

USA is using a large number of stockpiled interceptor munitions in this war. Patriot battery interceptors are expensive and time consuming to produce.

In a Trump reality show casting call, Trump ups the ante from "you're fired".

Trump says US had identified candidates to take over Iran but they were killed in initial strikes: Independent

President Trump has revealed uncertainty about who will take over Iran, as many of the likely front-runners were killed in initial strikes.

"The attack was so successful it knocked out most of the candidates," Trump told ABC’s Jonathan Karl.

"It's not going to be anybody that we were thinking of because they are all dead. Second or third place is dead."

The NY Times - In Plunging Into a Mideast Conflict, Trump Gambles His Presidency

March 2, 2026

Six American service members were killed, and U.S. military jets were shot out of the sky. Investors are bracing for market turmoil, fearing prolonged disruption to oil supplies. President Trump says the military campaign against Iran could extend for weeks, and Secretary of State Marco Rubio said Monday that “the hardest hits are yet to come from the U.S. military.

With his decision Friday to authorize war against Iran, Mr. Trump is taking the biggest gamble of his presidency, risking the lives of American troops, more deaths and instability in the world’s most volatile region, and his own political standing.

Mr. Trump, facing declining approval ratings and staring down the possibility that Republicans will lose control of Congress in the midterms, plunged the United States into what is shaping up to be its most expansive military conflict since the 2003 invasion of Iraq.

In just over a year since taking office, Mr. Trump has authorized military action in seven nations, even after he repeatedly promised American voters that he would end, not start, wars.

During his inaugural address, he said his “proudest legacy will be that of a peacemaker.”

Netanyahu probably has him convinced he's the messiah and remembered forever as the man who made peace in the middle east.

Netanyahu does not need to convince Trump.
There was a hint that bonesaw people were heartly fed up with Iran and sending messages.
Probably a lot of brothers who are in firing line were saying things behind closed doors.

Though at the core.
Evangelicals have been spending years worshiping him and telling Trump he is chosen of God.
The richest wealth church preachers with influence laying hands no him as the chosen one.
Strict part of Catholic Church, and Mormons etc seem in USA to be quite ok with him, Pope excepted.

He already thought he was greatest gift to anything, so to have it confirmed God did too.
Not healthy for a mind already so warped.
America's gift to the world, a fully formed and primed megalomaniac, looking to show his global power.

He is like Elon, flailing away with that extremely overpowered game character someone else created,
with not the skill to use the power wisely.
But its no game.

Apparently US military commanders are tell their units that its a holy war and Trump has been anointed by god to bring Armageddon and the return of JC. There have been complaints from NCOs concerning it. I guess they believe they can hype up religious ferver which is scary. Normally I would write the off as utter buffalo beagles put with the crazes nutters in Washington anything is possible.

Hesgeth purged a lot of experienced leaders out of the US military so who knows. Did he not study read about pre WW2 Stalin purges, what a dangerous simpleton.
