gzt: Tamaki continues evils leading to threats against a Sikh ACT party candidate and family:

Awaaz: “NZ Political ads are now appearing in Punjabi!” [Tamaki] wrote.“Politicians are falling over themselves, lining up for photos with immigrant communities! “And this week ACT announced its latest Papakura candidate, Malkiat Singh, a turban wearing Licensed Immigration Advisor. Plus candidates who are Iranian, Yugoslavian, Bulgarian…”

RadioNZ: An ACT Party candidate in Auckland has filed a complaint with police after a torrent of online abuse, including racial slurs and threats against him and his family, surfaced on social media.

Singh is standing in Papakura where Hanna Tamaki is standing for the Destiny party Vision NZ.

Oh dear, is Hanna feeling threatened?

Diddums.

gzt: "Police seize Destiny Church leader Brian Tamaki’s firearms and revoke gun licence after incendiary online comments"

https://www.nzherald.co.nz/nz/auckland/police-seize-destiny-church-leader-brian-tamakis-firearms-and-revoke-gun-licence-after-incendiary-online-comments/BPC2WWUWZVGZHHPHZXCTVLS2Z4/

Great news. He should know legal possession of fire arms in NZ is a privilege not a right, with that privilege able to be revoked at any time by Police which they have just done with him.

Keep up the good work Police.

Presumably threatening to burn down places of worship fails the fit and proper person test in the firearms legislation.

Just him speaking or texting his thoughts should fail that test too.

I hope the IRD are keeping tabs on his income and tax returns etc, given that the church was de-registered as a charity in 2022 for failing to complete tax returns.

Meh. IRD is quick to go after some small account owing a few hundred dollars, but then you hear cases of companies and owners with hundreds of thousands or millions of dollars owed, and ask "How did they get to that number and why were they not stopped before?"

As someone who has been a licenced firearms owner for about 35-years ...

Firearm ownership is a privilege or at best a tool of trade for a farmer or pest controller - but not for a 'bishop'!  I'm very glad we live somewhere that owning fiearms isn't a right.

De-licensing someone who engages in violence-inciting hate speech and confiscating their firearms is an entirely appropriate response.  Hopefully this is prelude to prosecution for hate speech and inciting violence.

If I was the cops, I'd be confiscating his lighters and matches too.

There maybe other issues with how the firearms are stored, handled that may come up in any future cases/appeals.
Given the personality of the 'freedumb' crusader involved who may consider themselves untouchable.

People are a bit cautious confronting this lot as they have some very 'interesting' members/enforcers.

There will be much farming of victimhood before the full story gets out.

I wonder whether he means: -

  1. An unregistered firearm - he hasn't registered all firearms in his possession; and/or
  2. A prohibited firearm; and/or
  3. A firearm of a class he doesn't have a licence endorsement for.

Time will tell.  I'm not sure about (1) but the other two (if applicable) are serious offences.

[edited to fix list numbering issues]

I'm already seriously offended by this individual's repugnant bigotry and racism anyway, so what's another serious offence?

Me too.  But offending you or I is not as serious as offending against the law 🤣

Firearm's offences are proper criminal offences.  Jail time is possible, although compulsory ankle jewellery is a more likely outcome.
