gzt: The immediate problem is mass starvation.

USA air-dropped 38,000 meals yesterday it will keep some lucky people alive for a short time that is all. UK and Jordan air-dropped medical supplies to a hospital last week. Likewise just better than nothing. Air-drops cannot deliver the volume required.

Israel's Netanyahu government has more or less convinced a large number of people starvation and other deaths are fake news. The UN and governments of USA and UK and NZ know the real situation and it is absolutely appalling.

A 30 tonne air drop is the equivalent of slightly less than 1 lorry I imagine.

SJB: The current Israeli government just wants the Palestinians gone from Palestine, either by leaving voluntarily or by extermination. They don't have any expansionist plans in the same way Putin has.

Ben-Gvir the extremist Minister of National Security who continues to do everything in his power to prevent aid crossing into Gaza believes large parts of Lebanon and Jordan are parts of his greater Israel.

January last year he remained unrepentant for leading radical settlers into the Temple Mount compound and disrupting worshippers and promised to continue doing it. He did exactly that.

Ben-Gvir plans to continue in every way he can using any power of the Israeli state he can muster and the radical settlers he is a part of.

gzt: Netanyahu has one primary aim - staying in power. 'Winning' the war and swinging his electorate further to his right is his avenue to do that and remain at the head of government.

The new Putin.

Once Trump gets in, it'll be 5 demonic dictators in power around the globe: Trump, Netanyahu, Kim, Putin and China's bloke (can't remember his name and don't want to google it).

There are also some B-listers who might qualify such as Victor Orban (Hungary), the Belarus guy and the Azerbaijan guy. Interestingly all ex USSR states.

Isn't the Azerbaijan guy a fairly level-headed moderate reformer? Or am I thinking of Tajikistan? One of them wants to modernise, clean up corruption etc. while still maintaining a friendly relationship with Russia (good luck with that).

Taken from Wikipedia

The ruling New Azerbaijan Party, in power since 1993, has been accused of authoritarianism under president Heydar Aliyev and his son Ilham Aliyev, and deteriorating the country's human rights record, including increasing restrictions on civil liberties, particularly on press freedom and political repression

Possibly post-Nursultan Kazakhstan? Thing is, all of the former Soviet-Union countries are corrupt and authoritarian to some degree and Russia has a major interest in making sure they stay that way, however some are less corrupt and authoritarian than others.

Kazakhstan! Yes, that's him, Tokayev - he seems as if he wants reforms and modernisation. And it appears genuine, at least from this distance.

I wouldn't be surprised to see that road developed into a border at some point, which becomes heavily "policed" and the land at the Med end claimed and developed for commerce/trade shipping etc.

I don't believe this horror show has much to do about religion but a lot to do with megalomania, crime and fascism.

Here is a crazy notion, lets give peace a chance.

Netanyahu continues to maintain his alternative reality:

Politico: Israeli authorities have been criticized for blocking the delivery of humanitarian assistance by land, but Netanyahu claimed the sea convoy as his idea in the interview, and denied people were starving.

One thing that is clear - Biden's so called red-line will be ignored and there will be a battle in Rafah.
