Other than Darleen Tana - and yes, that was indeed a self-own - I'm not sure what you are calling a Green Party scandal that wouldn't otherwise mean the Luxon government having a scandal every 6 *days*.

Ghahraman – shoplifting
Genter – Intimidating behaviour contempt of Parliament
Doyle – BibleBeltBussy, as spokesperson for early childhood education
Not commenting on the merits of any of the instances just pointing them out as events that received significant coverage.

Uffindell - bedlegs
van der Molen - intimidating behaviour, standing over a woman
Bayley - take some wine and f*** off, loser
Seymour - told the victim raped by Tim Jago to take it up with an employment lawyer
Kuriger - Primay Production committee chair complains to MPI over their prosecution of her son for animal cruelty
Peters - non-stop racist and sexist slurs (e.g. send the Mexicans home), a proven liar ('NO'), thinks Seymour is a 'cuck', openly courts the cooker vote with culture war BS
About half the cabinet - either ministers responsible for regulating what they used to lobby against regulation of (McKee, Hoggard) or otherwise unashamedly in their pockets (Costello, Jones, and Mr Entitled Seven Houses changing the bright line rules so he paid no tax on his property sales)
Lee - enthusiastically supports tightening copyright rules while tweeting about the awesome mix tape her friend made and gave to her
Pugh - antivax woo
Ghahraman immediately took responsibility for what she did, resigned from parliament and pleaded guilty. Genter also apologised and took her punishment. Doyle had a dumb nickname - as I'm sure most of us do, up to and including the one I'm using right here on this forum - and was finally forced to leave at least in part because of the culture war rhetoric that the likes of Peters spews constantly ramped up into constant death threats to themself and their family. If there's a good thing to come out of it, it's that they left before they broke (or were killed), while Ghahraman tried to hang on and was broken by it.
But we just shrug and accept that it is how it is with the current lot.

Its a pity that there is so much distraction from so many of our elected representatives, we don't need leaders of parties, we need a mum and dad to put a few of the petulant children over their knees with the wooden spoon!

I support Brownlee's stated attempt to crack down on the bad behaviour but I don't know how far he's going to get. For one thing he seems focused on irrelevant stuff - ties? really? that's why MPs are behaving badly, because they don't (have to) wear ties? give me a break - and also there are definitely some MPs from both sides of the aisle who unashamedly don't care about rules.
Needs a fundamental reset of the way the House runs, I think. Maybe the Speaker shouldn't be an MP at all. Maybe the Speaker needs to be an apolitical appointee like the Clerke in order to be less likely to be one-eyed. And maybe more liberal use of smaller cool-down penalties like kicking people out of the chamber for half an hour would make a difference.

its a bit of a stacked system having the speaker appointed from the governing party, Mallard as speaker? That was like a bad joke. Brownlee as you say is at least trying. The whole "naming in the house" or being ejected for a period is a bit weak. Should be $ fines, money put towards a charity of a neutral speakers choosing (or similar). Fine to be paid personally by the offender.
I think being ejected could work as long as it was applied even-handedly. Winston would soon learn to keep his insults to himself if he was sent to the sin-bin (with no reporters to complain to) for half an hour every time he tried on one.

Now Labour has announced its first policy - ring fencing income from SOE's and investing it in private businesses to keep jobs in NZ.
Really not sure how to take this one, seems well intentioned, the devil will ofcourse be in the detail. The skeptic in me thinks though if National had proposed a policy of his nature, it would be shouted down as National stealing tax-payers money to funnel money to their "rich business mates". Wonder what Labour's requirements will be for which entities receive the money?

Agreed. I get the sense they are looking to invest in small businesses that need capital to grow based on what RNZ is quoting them as saying.
Too many New Zealand-grown ideas and businesses have had to go offshore to find the backing that they need because they couldn't get it here. That takes away jobs, that takes away opportunities with them - that has to change.
If they are working it so that their investment effectively buys them a stake in the company and therefore its profits it should not really matter who they invest in provided there is some hygiene employed to ensure they don't invest in anything heinous. Of course, different people are going to have different ideas about where you should draw that line. There's a pretty good business to be made manufacturing Soviet-compatible artillery and tank shells, for example.

Govt run knock shops? Oldest profession in the world, plenty of profit.....
But seriously, a good idea is a good idea, regardless of which party thought of it and needs to be given opportunity for the detail to be fleshed out to see if it stacks up.

Mallard was significantly more effective at maintaining order in the house than Brownlee. Brownlees management style consists of threatening to kick members out but never following through which results in the toddlers running amok.
By all accounts he’s a nice man who likes to be liked but that’s not the job. It’s nothing to do with him being an MP, he’s just not very good at being speaker.
Deflection/distraction?
