Is there any way this clear partisan decision can be corrected in the future?

Nobody has needed it before, including Bush. I just find it bizarre that US citizens are happy not to get behind challenging it, given it means a  President can do whatever they like due to the last part, no actions when acting under presidential matters can be used as evidence, which means the same as they DO have absolute immunity and are above the law.

The Dems are doing a terrible job of prosecuting this election based on Trumps actions both personal and legal.

Judge Chutkan
Its the final delay, that covers till election or past it.
Any action to appeal or make a case for another Judge will take longer.

If Trump wins then that's the end of it.
If he does not then Judge Chutkan will be quite happy to be disqualified anyway.

Either way for Florida Trumplicans she would have done her duty and not have threats against her life and be able to go out in public as a heroine.

For many cases the 5 year statute of limitations comes up towards end of next year too.

Wrong judge - you mean Aileen Cannon. Judge Chutkan is one of the good ones.

Note that in Pennsylvania, like many US states, sheriffs are elected, and can be completely with these qualifications: US citizen, drivers license, high school degree, clean criminal record.

In other words, the same qualification as a postal worker. Actually less than a postal worker, because while police have a vision requirement of 20/70, sheriffs don't. Can't see a mailbox address, become a sheriff!

Police are hired, and must be qualified beforehand, not afterwards.

Both require training to start, but training for Sheriffs is shorter (minimum 4 months vs 6 months police) and Sheriffs only after elected. Regarding continuing education, sheriffs only have to get 10 hours training every years (actually 20 every 2 years) after that. Police require 12 hours per year.

Personally I have more respect for parking enforcement officer than sheriffs, as sheriffs tend to get in the news in a bad way frequently. South Eastern states, Texas, Arizona, New Mexico and Los Angeles have particular bad reputations

BBC: Security was tight, so how did Trump gunman slip through?

Secret Service spokesman Anthony Guglielmi said that his agency had relied on local police to help.
He said his agents were responsible for securing inside the perimeter of the fairgrounds, while local police secured the area outside, which included the private building used by the gunman.

The local sheriff's department referred BBC questions to the state police, which said it was not responsible for the area containing the building.
...
The sheriff admitted there had been "a failure" in securing the premises, but said he believed that there was no single party to blame.
...
In this case, he said the building the gunman was on would have been outside of the event’s official grounds, and the responsibility of local police.
...
Mr Russell said it was probable that Secret Service agents identified that building as a threat ahead, and had requested local authorities to station officers nearby to prevent access.

“For whatever reason, that didn’t happen,” he said.

Thanks SaltyNZ,  Aileen Cannon it should be. Delay, Delay and more Delay, now it does not matter.
Anyways, if Trump gets another run he will be plundering all the secret records.
Fortunately Putin can offer storage space.

The shooting, a wider photo shows a high water tower with a wide view of the area.
One agent/camera and its all covered.
If a drone would have panicked the Trumplicans too much.

Like who would have thought the most proximate roof that does not already have secret service on it would be a problem.
It probably should have had a team up there anyways to give overview from the other direction.

https://www.businessinsider.com/trump-wants-criminal-charges-dropped-unite-nation-2024-7

Yeah, I don't think dropping all of the court cases against him would "unify" the country in any way, shape, or form.

I also saw this, from the widow of the man who died trying to protect his family at the rally where Trump was shot:

Apparently after being released from hospital, I read that Trump went off and played golf, instead of reaching out to anyone who was injured at his rally. Not sure how accurate that is though.

If that is legit, that too needs to be posted all over Elons election control platform/X.

So much for Trumps post ear shot epiphany to use his position to unite the country. Back to corruption and conquer.

Last I looked NZ had slipped from 2nd to 3rd most corrupt country in the world. The USA was 32nd. Imagine what it will be once Trump does a deal with Rus re Ukr and watch the original 70% US support to Ukr erode. Its not beneficial for Repub Billiionaires etc. They already cost how many lives holding up the last aide bill.

We are hanging on to a few things going the Dems way in the rigged court system.

A $2 still cost $2 if anyone is interested. There are ones that are 50 years old, but not considered collectible. $2 bills did go out of circulation for some years, but for some reason unknown to me were reintroduced decades ago.

Defacing a US is illegal, but usually only punished if the intent is to defraud. The maximum penalty is $100 and 6 months in prison.

Though I haven't checked for many years, I believe any US bill is still legal tender if 51% of the bill remains, and one of the corners with denomination amount.

I remember a story of a crazy old woman who cut hundred of dollars into tiny pieces with scissors.

The 51% figure even includes tiny pieces, if they can be reassemble like a jig saw puzzle. The U.S. Department of Treasury’s Bureau of Engraving and Printing (BEP) division has the "Mutilated Currency Redemption Service" Their only job is reassembling shredded money, so the owner get the value. It's was a free service; I check it and it still seems free.

This excludes cash that was intentionally shredded to confetti by the government. You could buy that for 45 US dollars for a big sack containing $10,000. They may have stopped. I remember a story that someone unsuccessfully attempted to reconstruct the paper from the confetti for backing counterfeit money.

I'm not sure if printing or putting a decal on one side of a bill would be handled, if 51% of the bill was still showing would be handled.

It sounds like an idiot would be paying $30 for something worth $2.50 (50 cents for the value of the sticker)

More interesting news coming out from both Senator push for Clarence Thomas and what the media is finding themselves. But it sounds like a DOJ investigation would not occur before the election and of course if Trump wins he can just pardon the justice or replace him with another maga justice.

Was it Elito or Thomas who pushed for the over the top immunity stuff that Trump hadnt even pushed for?

I think Biden needs to take presidential authority to delay the election one year until all legal matters are resolved, he is the King, he can do what he wants.... (jks). I seriously hope the Repubs if they win dont try something like that because that really would cause civil war, but who knows what dodgy legalities Trump and the guys behind P2025 have planned.

I want my reliable, slightly plastic but defenders of Democracy USA back. That SCOTUS decision feels like its changed the view of the USA to now being completely self focussed under Trump.

If I were an American, I would be preparing for difficult times (mentally) by now at the latest. I have a Morgan dollar from the century before last that I always use as a decision maker for 50/50 cases.

I think I found it - says about golf but doesn't say if he called the shooting victims or not:
https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/live-blog/donald-trump-shooting-live-updates-assassination-attempt-shock-biden-rcna161759

2d ago / 5:28 AM GMT+12

Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham said on NBC’s “Meet the Press” this morning that “we probably need to do some soul-searching as a nation” after the assassination attempt against Trump.

“I was just grateful that he made it,” said Graham, who added he had had plans to golf with Trump this morning. “I mean, fate stepped in, the hand of God, call it whatever you like.”

“I wish I could say I was surprised, but I’ve been worried about this for a very, very long time. You know, if he wins, democracy is not going to end, he’s not a fascist. He represents a point of view that millions share,” Graham said. “The rhetoric is way too hot.”

No motive in the shooting at Saturday’s political rally in Pennsylvania has been released.

I dunno, I'll believe what he said (in the bold part) when I see it. Just like Vance saying as VP he would count the electoral votes for the other side "only if the election is fair"; translation = "if we win" 🙄

Luxury!  I have a 1 ruble coin that I use for tie-breakers over restaurant meals.

That's about all it's good for really.
