Maybe people just liked her. That must be a tough one to swallow.
Good job entirely missing the point.
On your logic, perhaps people just like Luxon too?

They like her more. Sorry.
Plesse igmore amd axxept applogies in adbance fir anu typos
I read that too - although I vaguely recall Judith Collins getting slightly higher polling for National when she took over the reins too. I wonder how long it will last for Luxon though.
Probably as long as his first major balls-up, which luckily for him has not been Hipango's garbage to date.
The safest strategy is for him to do almost nothing for as long as possible and just let Robertson and Ardern keep copping it over cost-of-living increases, but to just stay visible enough so that people know he still exists.

On that one, I'm sure it's just a matter of time.

I thought it was funny Simon Wilson was lamenting Luxon's popularity when he hadn't done anything. I don't recall similar whining when Ardern was at 26% approval rating despite having done nothing either.

While she might be likable I'm have a tough job finding any people among the people I know who think she has done a good job. Her personality might have got her thus far, it remains to be seen how much further it will carry her.

May be may be not. She is not an electorate MP, she serves at the parties pleasure. If she wants to retain her place on the list and or wants to be selected as the electorate candidate she will need to show some ability to play the team game.

Her continued presence and stuff-ups is a poor reflection on the party leadership tbh. I thought Luxon might take the opportunity to be decisive but he has not.

Probably a question of what he would like to and what he can do from both the rules around deposing of rabble MP's and what ructions any action may precipitate. Letting sleeping dogs lie seems to to be a worthwhile strategy for the time being.

He can kick her out, very easily. While I'll never be a National voter I'm sure there must be some more deserving MP's there who don't do idiotic things like buying furniture for their house and charging it to the taxpayer, or getting snapped twice with anti-vaxx protests, which even the leader of your own party has described as "nuts".
Who would be next on the National Party List to replace her, anyway?
My apologies, I got a bit sidetracked there.
I think we all did! The cost of living issues are going to start causing more headaches for the Government as time goes by with no meaningful response.
Kiwiblog also points out that the minimum wage usually goes up in April but we are getting closer and closer with no idea what it will be.

Handle9:Technofreak:Poorly targeted government spending. We've borrowed the second highest amount of money per capita for our Covid response.
There have been too many failed projects that have cost a lot of money. Think housing, the bike lane on the harbour bridge for starters. RNZ are reporting this today, https://www.rnz.co.nz/news/political/460450/disability-ministry-s-ongoing-costs-and-funding-kept-secret
Government spending needs to be better focussed and less wasteful. We should have a much better health system at this stage of the pandemic but we don't. Our ICU capacity is probably less than when the pandemic started yet I read the other day that NSW has doubled their ICU capacity.
Be specific. How much spending are you talking about and what is the nett impact?
