I'm not sure if this has already been posted here. It's not the first time Republicans have threatened a violent overthrow if Trump doesn't win, and I'm sure it won't be the last.

It sounds eerily similar to Trump whipping up the insurrectionist to storm the capital in 2020.

The article left out his previous statement "Fight! Fight! Fight! Fight!" while pounding his fist in the air, turning bright red, and looking like he was about to bust a forehead vein.

When the senator recanted the next day with “it did not accurately reflect my views” I think he meant "whoops! Did I say that part out loud?"

The Hill: GOP official at JD Vance rally ‘afraid’ civil war needed if Trump loses, later recants

Ohio state Sen. George Lang (R) said at a Trump-Vance 2024 rally Monday that he’s “afraid” a civil war might be necessary if Republicans lose the November election, before later recanting his remarks.

“I believe wholeheartedly Donald Trump and Butler County’s JD Vance are the last chance to save our country, politically,” Lang said at a rally in Middletown, Ohio, the hometown of the first-term senator and GOP vice presidential nominee.

“I’m afraid if we lose this one, it’s going to take a civil war to save the country, and it will be saved. It’s the greatest experiment in the history of mankind, and if we come down to a civil war, I’m glad we got people like … Bikers for Trump on our side,” he continued.

Trump VP choice Vance performance was so lackluster that Fox literally cut away shortly after this segment, before he was finished speaking.

I can imagine the Fox News TV studio control room, the broadcast director scream "He's dying out there! Cut away! Cut to commercial!"

One YouTube commenter said Vance had "Jeb Bush" energy. Jeb Bush was a Florida governor, son of former president George H. W. Bush, and considered to be "the dumb one."

Well Duh...Trump is NEVER going have people smarter than he is around him, nor anyone who will take the limelight from him.

All good, except that doesn't quite align with "only the best people" 😄
I guess the bar with him is extremely low?

Smart does not actually signify good or bad.
You can have a smart serial killer.

Smart people with no empathy also percolate up the ranks of the mob.
Smart people worked on the final solution too.
Stalin was probably very smart.

So really all Trump needs is someone who is smart and knows their place.
Being like him, utterly selfish and knowing that looking after the boss looks after them.
As he bows to Putin.

Elon Musk and Peter Thiel can be very smart and totally dedicated to their own selfish glory.
Peter Thiel has been known to say that
"I no longer believe that freedom and democracy is compatibile"
They are smart enough to know that Oligarchs did well under Putin's Autocratic Rule.

This is only slightly off topic;

If you're able, watch 'Civil War', a 2024 movie about a dystopian USA. I think most followers of this thread will find it a very rewarding watch :-)

Here I was thinking for a second that you were meaning this:

Then I looked it up and found what you mean, I think it must have got lost in all the Trump-related noise during the 2016 campaign.

Given Trump's mocking a handicapped reporter in front of a crowd, I can believe it.

The independent UK: Trump suggested people with disabilities ‘should just die,’ nephew reveals in memoir

During a private meeting at the outset of the Covid-19 pandemic, then-president Donald Trump reportedly mused aloud about whether people with disabilities would be better off dead instead of causing more expenses for their caregivers.

The shocking remark is included in a new book, All in the Family: The Trumps and How We Got This Way, by the former president’s nephew, Fred Trump III, who makes other startling claims about his uncle.

"USA Today" is a bland mostly unbiased newspaper.

USA Today: Trump's DJT stock falls as Kamala Harris hits campaign trail

The swift ascension of Vice President Kamala Harris has knocked some of the wind out of Trump Media & Technology’s sails.

The stock slipped again Wednesday, falling 7% to $30.62, extending Tuesday’s losses as the presumptive Democratic nominee hit the campaign trail.

Harris, whose campaign says she has secured the Democratic nomination, opened up a marginal lead over Donald Trump after President Joe Biden’s exit from the race, according to a Reuters/Ipsos poll. The former president's campaign to retake the White House has supercharged his social media company.

Trump Media trades heavily on its namesake’s fortunes and less on company fundamentals. Its flagship platform, Truth Social, is Trump’s bullhorn of choice.

Despite losing money and having little revenue, Trump Media boasts a market cap of nearly $6 billion. The company stock trades under the vanity ticker DJT.

Volatility has been the hallmark of the stock since the company went public earlier this year, soaring as high as $79.38.

Trump Media shares surged after he survived an assassination attempt at a Pennsylvania rally but have deflated since.
