"The Atlantic" has a centrist/left-leaning bias, and is well-regarded.

This video discusses when Trump vice president JD Vance was a "never-Trumper."

Hear what JD Vance's ex-boss thinks about him now

David Frum says JD Vance used to write for him on a publication called FrumForum under a pseudonym. Frum talks about how Vance's views have changed on policy and what he could do to the Republican party.

Washington Post (2021): Ohio Senate candidate J.D. Vance argues against need for rape and incest exceptions in abortion laws
...
J.D. Vance, the author and venture capitalist running for the GOP nomination for a Senate seat from Ohio, this week defended the Texas abortion law and argued against the need for exceptions for rape and incest in such restrictive statutes, downplaying such circumstances as “inconvenient.”

When asked during a local interview whether abortion laws should include exceptions for rape and incest, Vance, a Republican, said he thinks “two wrong don’t make a right.”

“It’s not whether a woman should be forced to bring a child to term, it’s whether a child should be allowed to live, even though the circumstances of that child’s birth are somehow inconvenient or a problem to the society,” Vance told Spectrum News in Columbus on Wednesday.

A lot that's accurate in here. Trump and James are both grifters, and I had no idea that changes were made as far back as Reagan's era that allowed all this to happen! 😮

So much for Trump being "a changed man" after his assassination attempt. That was a remarkably short-lived transformation (if there even was one) 🙄

All Kamala has to do is the following when debating Trump:

  • Laugh: While most will see this as being approachable, Trump will see it as treating him like a loser.

  • Respond Matter-of-Factly: Instead of getting insulted, pretend like she's simply asking a question.

  • Talk About Laws: Employ as many long and baffling words in one sentence as she can.

  • Ask “How” Instead of “Why”: Push Trump to be specific. Ask how something works, or how their belief would play out in reality

  • Stay Calm and Confident: Maintain her composure even when under pressure.
Mark Twain once said, “The human race has one really effective weapon, and that is laughter.”

Those things are good, but in my opinion she should also remember to preface each answer: 'That's a great question, thanks, but before I answer it I need to remind everyone that Donald Trump is an adjudicated rapist who hung out with convicted child molesters, owes nearly half a billion dollars in fines for fraud, and is awaiting sentencing on 34 criminal convictions. But anyway, the economy...'

Those things are all 100% true and the public absolutely needs to be clear that that's the man they're voting for. Hammer it home. Make him pop a vein raging over it.

Say it every. Single. Time.

The Conversation: Trump’s promotion of an image of strength after assassination attempt borrows from authoritarian playbook

In the days since the attempted assassination of Donald Trump, supporters of the former president have used the incident to project an image of power.

T-shirts of a bloodied Trump with his fist clenched were on sale at the Republican National Convention, where Trump – his ear bandaged – recounted his ordeal.

Of course, Trump is far from the first political leader to survive an attempt on their life. And many of those targeted have been populist leaders – on both the left and the right.

The Conversation spoke with Ruth Ben-Ghiat, author of “Strongmen: Mussolini to the Present,” to explore how authoritarian leaders have in the past used assassination attempts to burnish a strongman image and whether the actions of Trump since the shooting fit that pattern.

It may end up projecting something very different. If Trump can't get elected after almost being assassinated, he can't get elected ... EVER!...

I think if Trump doesn't get elected this time, someone will be tapping on his shoulder at 82 years old next time.

Trump only became president because his fragile ego wouldn't permit him to be the brunt of Obama's ribbing.

Lawrence is a patriot.

Fox should be held to account with some (all cough cough) of its reporting on democrats.

Trump is too old, no way, he can make it through another four years. I hope he can step down for the good of his people.

No way in hell would he do that - that runs counter to his vision of appearing "strong" and not being "a loser".

Even if he loses this year, I have a feeling this will be his last shot at running for an election - he is happy to knock Biden over his age, but I hasten to add that the orange buffoon would be older than Biden is now by 2028.
