My wife has the debate on in the background I have to say - Trump makes some weird and wild claims.
It stuns me that anyone - even the grossly uneducated - could believe half of what he says.

Taylor has spoken: https://www.instagram.com/taylorswift/p/C_wtAOKOW1z/

Like many of you, I watched the debate tonight. If you haven’t already, now is a great time to do your research on the issues at hand and the stances these candidates take on the topics that matter to you the most. As a voter, I make sure to watch and read everything I can about their proposed policies and plans for this country.

Recently I was made aware that AI of ‘me’ falsely endorsing Donald Trump’s presidential run was posted to his site. It really conjured up my fears around AI, and the dangers of spreading misinformation. It brought me to the conclusion that I need to be very transparent about my actual plans for this election as a voter. The simplest way to combat misinformation is with the truth.

I will be casting my vote for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz in the 2024 Presidential Election. I’m voting for @kamalaharris because she fights for the rights and causes I believe need a warrior to champion them. I think she is a steady-handed, gifted leader and I believe we can accomplish so much more in this country if we are led by calm and not chaos. I was so heartened and impressed by her selection of running mate @timwalz, who has been standing up for LGBTQ+ rights, IVF, and a woman’s right to her own body for decades.

I’ve done my research, and I’ve made my choice. Your research is all yours to do, and the choice is yours to make. I also want to say, especially to first time voters: Remember that in order to vote, you have to be registered! I also find it’s much easier to vote early. I’ll link where to register and find early voting dates and info in my story.

With love and hope,

The NY Times - Debate Fact Check: Trump on the Economy, Immigration and Abortion

FALSE:

  • “I had nothing to do” with Jan. 6

  • “Now she wants to do transgender operations on illegal aliens that are in prison.”

  • “In Springfield, they’re eating the dogs. The people that came in, they’re eating the cats. They’re eating - they’re eating the pets of the people that live there.”

  • “A lot of these illegal immigrants coming in -” Democrats are “trying to get them to vote.”

  • “We have inflation like very few people have ever seen before. Probably the worst in our nation’s history: We were at 21 percent.”

  • “All I can say is I read where she was not Black. That she put out. And I’ll say that and then I read that she was Black, and that’s OK. Either one was OK with me.”

  • “Crime here is up and through the roof.”

  • “Her vice-presidential pick says abortion in the ninth month is absolutely fine. He also says execution after birth. It’s execution, no longer abortion, because the baby is born is, OK, and that’s not OK with me.”

  •  All of Trump’s legal challenges to the outcome of the 2020 election were dismissed on “technicalities” or the basis of “standing.”

  • “They sent her in to negotiate with Zelensky and Putin, and she did, and the war started three days later.”

  • “We have millions of people pouring into our country from prisons and jails, from mental institutions and insane asylums.”

  • “For years we were paying almost all of NATO. We were being ripped off by European nations, both on trade and on NATO. I got them to pay up.”

  • “I have nothing to do with Project 2025.”

  • “Every legal scholar - every Democrat, every Republican, liberal, conservative - they all wanted” abortion policy “to be brought back to the states.”

  •  Immigrants are “taking over the towns. They’re taking over buildings. They’re going in violently.”

  • “She’s a Marxist. Everybody knows she’s a Marxist.”

Coincidently I was browsing children's books recently and found some great bedtime reading perfect for Trump's age level!

Whitcoulls: Help your little one dream big with a Little Golden Book biography about Taylor Swift,

the Grammy Award-winning and multiplatinum artist.

Little Golden Book biographies are the perfect introduction to nonfiction for preschoolers!

Trump 9/11 story has shifted substantially over the years. He has given three other locations scattered throughout two states, and claimed he was a "first responder."

In 2002, Trump was not actively looking into politics yet. That came when Obama toasted him publicly on the issue of the birth certificate during a White House Correspondents' Dinner on April 2011

In the never aired interview below, it's the only time Trump told a tiny bit of the truth about his location and activities in the "9/11" New York World Trade Center attack: He says he was in his apartment watching TV.

His apartment was 4 miles away from the attack. The World Trade center building was 0.25 miles high. So no danger of it falling on top of him. From his apartment, his view was blocked. He admits in the interview he heard it, and doesn't say he saw it.

Reporter: "You're personal experience. I believe you ran from danger too"

Trump: "Well, we thought a building was coming down on top of us. Because it was the first day, and people didn't know if buildings standing or not. And one of the buildings started to move and shake, and we all ran"

"It was amazing these firemen were just running and grabbing me. I say 'What's wrong? What's going on here?' And they thought a building was going to come down. And a piece of it came down. But fortunately it was able to stay up."

So to summarize Trump's lies, and not only was he not a first responder, but claims one grabbed him. It begins with him talking about the World Trade Center, as he talking about more than one building.

Later It's unclear what building he's even talking about, as he says "it was able to stay up". Both World Trade buildings had fallen within 2 hours. I doubt he even knows what he's talking about.

Also no part of his apartment building was hit by debris, and no "piece of it came down". Beyond a dust cloud, the apartment was shielded by several other buildings.

NZ Herald: Donald Trump interview with Cameron Bennett on 9/11 anniversary resurfaces

A long-forgotten interview with Donald Trump on the first anniversary of the September 11 terror attacks aired for the first time on Whakaata Māori last night.

The interview, conducted by Te Ao with Moana executive producer Cameron Bennett in 2002, was never aired by TVNZ, the broadcaster for whom Bennett worked at the time.

The NY Times - Best of Late Night

“Usually when Donald Trump gets a spanking like this from a woman, it’s with a Forbes magazine. Kamala was pushing his buttons like a 12-year-old playing Fortnite.” - JIMMY KIMMEL

“He was so nonsensical that she looked at him the way a parent looks at a kid giving a presentation on why they should be allowed to get a pet tiger.” - STEPHEN COLBERT

What Trump said during debate

The presidential hopeful said in the first head-to-head with his opponent: "In Springfield, they're eating the dogs, the people that came in, they're eating the cats… They're eating... they're eating the pets of the people that live there

"And this is what's happening in our country, and it's a shame."

Glad the cats have him on their side. We can breathe easy now.

Humpety Trumpety sat on Mexico's wall,
Humpety Trumpety had a great fall.
All the right wing’s horses and all the right wing’s men
Couldn't put Trumpety together again.
