The orange buffoon and his mates are constantly banging on about him having a "mandate" to do whatever the hell he wants given he won the election - but The Bulwark points out that he doesn't, really:

(looking at the tariffs point as it's been mentioned above - the public won't support them if it means prices will be going up for anything:
Tariffs. When VoteCast asked about “increasing taxes on goods imported to the U.S. from other countries,” voters split almost evenly: 49 percent in favor, 50 percent against. Polls taken since the election suggest that the political balance might tip slightly in Trump’s favor when the word “tariffs” is used instead of “taxes,” but the balance tips against Trump when the tariffs are substantial. In general, the numbers indicate that if the public feels the cost of tariffs, sentiment will turn against them.
But HE won’t care. He is already behind The Resolute desk. He won’t care about the future of the Republican Party. His narcissist pea brain will be mostly saturated from Yes persons, genuflecting red necks and his very small circle of tyrants and his bank balance will be bigger by bending the rules and traditions all other presidents have adhered too. Remember he has not signed, in the past or now, the ethics pledge.
"I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the Office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect and defend Donald J Trump”
