So kindergarten Gobbledygook speak and perceived promises where there aren’t any promises. Just big pats on his own back for imaginary actions of his own making.

Whilst the difficult we can do immediately, the impossible takes a bit longer. However, miracles you will have to wait for.

Kinda sorta not but in a way-related to Trump:

https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/politics/elections/2024/12/11/donald-trump-jr-kimberly-guilfoyle-break-up/76917487007/

Looks like the orange buffoon's namesake son and fiance have broken up, so Dad helps out...by shipping her off to Greece.

I wonder how she feels about it? 😀

Nobel laureates urge US Senate to reject Robert F Kennedy Jr’s nomination: The Guardian

Seventy-seven Nobel laureates have signed a letter urging the US Senate to reject Robert F Kennedy Jr as Donald Trump’s nominee for health and human services secretary, arguing that he is unfit and would put American public health “in jeopardy”.

It is believed to be the first time in living memory that Nobel prize winners have united against a presidential cabinet pick, and comes against a backdrop of Kennedy’s public support for discredited theories, including a claim that childhood vaccines cause autism.

In their letter, prize winners in the fields of medicine, chemistry, physics and economics castigate Kennedy for a “lack of credentials” and point out that he has been “a belligerent critic” of some of the agencies that he would oversee, including the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the National Institutes of Health (NIH), and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

“The proposal to place Mr Kennedy in charge of the federal agencies responsible for protecting the public health of American citizens and for conducting the medical research that benefits our country and the rest of humanity has been widely criticised on multiple grounds,” the laureates say in the letter, first obtained by the New York Times.

They also point to Kennedy’s vocal opposition to the measles and polio vaccines, his support for ending fluoridation of the water supply and his promotion of conspiracy theories over the treatments for Aids and other diseases.

Kennedy has threatened to fire employees of the FDA, which he has accused of “waging war on public health”, and has said he will replace hundreds of NIH employees on his first day. He has also said many vaccine scientists should be in jail.

“The leader of DHHS (the Department of Health and Human Services) should continue to nurture and improve – not threaten – these highly respected institutions and their employees,” the laureates write.

“In view of his record, placing Mr Kennedy in charge of DHSS would put the public’s health in jeopardy and undermine America’s global leadership in health sciences, in both public and commercial sectors.”

That's good news indeed but the problem with Trump's nominees this time around is there are so many bad ones (and very few good) 😕

Some defendants claim that Trump can issue “pardons of innocence,” but federal prosecutors told a judge that pardons would not wipe away their guilt.

Aha! Nice try losers. Yes, take the pardon courtesy of the orange buffoon - but you're admitting your guilt and it will be on your record forever 😀👍

There is ONE issue that likely that brain-worm home RFK Jr has some connection with reality. He call fast food poison. Specifically he really hates high-fructose corn syrup.

American corn has been heavily subsided. Richard Nixon's administration in the early 1970s, driven by his Secretary of Agriculture, Earl Butz, got the government subsidize in full swing. Yes, a famous anti-communist Republican president got a socialist program rolling, which is still in full swing to this day.

Removal of those subsidize ain't going to make Trump's core voter segment, Midwest farmers, happy.

Who could have thunk that being President is stressful?

Kennedy’s War on Corn Syrup Brings a Health Crusade to Trump Country: New York Times

When Donald J. Trump said Robert F. Kennedy Jr. could “go wild” on health, he might not have expected his pick for health secretary doing battle against the president-elect’s own voters.

Off subject, but some might find interesting. Mexican Coke is the legal kind; not the Trump Jr kind.

Yes, a famous anti-communist Republican president got a socialist program rolling, which is still in full swing to this day.

Apart from the health issues, US government-subsidised corn, which is Mexico's staple food, destroyed a lot of Mexican farmers once NAFTA flooded the local markets with it.  As a result they either went to work in the US or switched to growing more lucrative crops for the cartels.  In particular the booming US economy in the 1990s created a huge demand for unskilled labour which led to waves of immigration to fill demand.  When Congress restricted immigration it led to massive illegal immigration instead.

So government-subsidised corn carries a good chunk of the blame for the obesity epidemic, illegal immigration, and a fair bit of the Mexican drugs trade.  It's a triple own-goal.

Trump gives gives up on grocery prices before even taking office.

He's pinning it on Biden, of course, and Trump bringing down energy prices. It appears there's no room for increased US oil production.

According to the American Petroleum Institute, a 25% tariff on imported crude oil could lead to a 15-30 cent per gallon increase in gasoline prices. (NZD 6 to 11 cents per liter)

During the 2018-2019 U.S.-China trade war, crude oil futures saw an increase in price volatility by 30%, reflecting market uncertainty over potential tariffs.

Studies show oil demand is price inelastic in the short term. In other words, petrol is a necessity for most Americans, demand for oil is relatively unresponsive to changes in its price, so tariffs disproportionately burden US consumers.

Trump says it will be 'hard' to bring down grocery prices, pins hopes on lower energy costs and better supply chains: NBC News

President-elect Donald Trump is acknowledging it may be difficult to bring down grocery prices, despite making it a key tenet of his presidential campaign.

In an interview with Time magazine, which named him person of the year for 2024, Trump said he nevertheless believes it'll happen through lower energy costs and supply chain improvements.

Asked whether his presidency would be a "failure" if grocery prices don't come down, Trump responded it would not, while blaming the Biden administration for the way it handled the inflation that led to higher food prices in the first place.

"Look, they got them up. I’d like to bring them down. It’s hard to bring things down once they’re up. You know, it’s very hard," he said in the interview published Thursday.

"But I think that they will. I think that energy is going to bring them down. I think a better supply chain is going to bring them down. You know, the supply chain is still broken. It’s broken," Trump said.

Trump has promised to further increase American energy production. It is already at all-time highs.

A few of this week's Trump-related cartoons:

This one is quite appropriate for the season:

The two non-elected people in government and their shiny new department that's all set to do...uh...what are they doing again? 🧐
