Trump said he is not joking about Canada as the 51st state. He is also not ruling out military force to retake Panama, and forcibly annex Greenland.

You know, Russia loves this because it justify current and future invasions.

Afterwards Trump added "The Panama Canal was built for our military. Completely unrelated, Ivanka walked in while I was leaving the shower, and she complemented the size of my penis. True story." :(

Wake me up in four years.

Trump Floats Using Force to Take Greenland and the Panama Canal: New York Times

President-elect Donald J. Trump refused on Tuesday to rule out the use of military or economic coercion to force Panama to give up control of the canal that America built more than a century ago and to push Denmark to sell Greenland to the United States.

In a rambling, hourlong news conference, Mr. Trump repeatedly returned to the theme of American sacrifice in building the canal and accused China, falsely, of operating it today. When pressed on the question of whether he might order the military to force Panama to give it up — in violation of treaties and other agreements reached during the Carter administration — or to do the same with Greenland, he said: “No, I can’t assure you on either of those two.”

“We need them for economic security — the Panama Canal was built for our military,” he said. Asked again if he would rule out the use of military force, he said: “I’m not going to commit to that. You might have to do something.”

Mr. Trump’s statements propelled his repeated calls for expanding American territory to a new level, one that is bound to roil three American allies — Panama; Denmark, which handles Greenland’s foreign and security affairs; and Canada, which he has mocked as America’s “51st State.” On Tuesday he made clear, though, that he was not joking, suggesting that if Canada remained a sovereign state the financial cost to its trading relationship with the United States could be crushing.

Has Donald spoken with King Charles (Canada's Head of State) about what King Charles thinks about losing sovereignty over Canada or was Donald quite happy for a US state to  be under British sovereignty or has he really not thought about this?

We are lucky that we are too small and too far away to be the focus of the 'Eye of Sauron'.

Though Peter Thiel may talk to his pal Elon Musk about a small place ideal for survival bunkers.

Somewhere they can start their own ideal civilization.
Just have to clear out a few NPCs.

The last time a country tried to take some British territory it didn't go so well for the aggressor. Admittedly different circumstances now but I don't see Britain just sitting back and doing nothing.

Sir Kier Starmer is no Margaret Thatcher, in fact he and his governement is seen in some quarters to be weak/ineffective. However Donald's fantasy about incorporating Canada into the USA may well be a God given opportunity for Starmer to prove he and his government are not weak or ineffective by standing up to Trump.

Don't worry. I told him that the mines of Moria with rare earths are in NZ, just as there are hobbits and the one ring.

Pandora's box has been opened again and don't think this spook will be over in 4 years. At least 165 million brain-dead Americans have no idea what they have done to the world. Only cupholders in the car are more important! 😁

Trump and well thought out plans go together like superglue and clumsy fingers, sunburns and showers.

Trump hasn't talked to the Republicans about Canada as a state.

Canada has a slightly larger population than California.

While there are some right-wingers in Canada, I'd expect Republicans would lose every federal election moving forward from annexation.

I assume it's safe to say Canada would not accept being a US state and give up the right to vote, like Puerto Rico.
  • Residents of Puerto Rico cannot vote in U.S. presidential elections unless they move to a U.S. state

  • Puerto Rico does not have voting representation in Congress. Residents cannot vote for members of the U.S. House of Representatives or the U.S. Senate.

  • Laws passed by Congress apply to Puerto Rico, but the island has no direct vote in shaping those laws.
But hey, it sounds like the sort of deal Trump would want.

The UK wouldn't defend Canada because King Charles, but rather because NATO. Which, incidentally, Denmark is also a member of. Be weird for the USA to be the one that kicks off a war against NATO, but on the other hand, the USA is also the only country so far to have invoked Article 5. So, who the hec knows.

One of the (very few) good things about the orange buffoon is he says/does so may ridiculous/outlandish/downright stupid things, making memes about his is like shooting fish in a barrel.

Here's a couple:

This guy makes a very good point:

This second one is - I think - just a smokescreen:

Quite likely because of this: https://www.thebulwark.com/p/biden-has-presidential-immunity-he

want to talk about all of the Trump insanity. I want to talk about his insistence on “taking” Greenland. And the Panama Canal. And making Canada a U.S. state. And renaming the Gulf of Mexico the “Gulf of America.”

But guess what: Trump wants us to talk about this bs. He’s trying to dominate the news cycle, get attention, and keep the public talking about nonsense instead of the important story. So let’s not do that here?

Instead, let’s talk about Jack Smith’s report. Because Democrats are poised to let Trump win again because they’re still playing by 2015 rules.

He's trying to deflect from Merrick Garland releasing Jack Smith's report by banging on about this "I want to take over Greenland/Canada/the Panama Canal" nonsense so everyone talks about that instead of the report. Hey, if the report had only good stuff in it, why would he be trying to so hard to get it blocked or move the news cycle onto something else? 🤔

Don Jr. gave an interview to Newsmax on his return about how everyone he'd talked to had been happy to be freed from the Danish oppression, and Greenlanders were looking forward to becoming part of the US:

Anything you hear to the contrary from anyone claiming to be a Greenlander is fake news.

Don Jr does realize that's snow, made from water, and not cocaine, right? Or was that the reason he left so quickly.

He attended one luncheon outside the US military base, and tellingly spent much of his time on a phone call with Daddy while he was there.

No one has released any information to the press about who attended the event except saying it was "local residents"

Guest Host on The Five Claims ‘Harry Truman Tried to Buy Greenland in 1867: Mediaite

On Tuesday’s edition of The Five, guest co-host Rosanna Scotto told viewers that President Harry Truman tried to buy Greenland in 1867.

Born in 1884, Truman served as president from 1945 to 1953.

“What I love about this whole situation is that Trump can just bring something up and say, ‘Well, let’s just see what happens.'” ... co-host Greg Gutfeld stated, as a chyron on the screen read, “MAGA GLOBAL DOMINATION.”

"It actually is not the first time this has happened. They’re calling the President-elect ‘bananas’ and ‘crazy’ for coming up with this idea. But by the way, this is not the first time that America has tried to buy Greenland. Back in 1867, Democratic President Harry Truman tried to buy Greenland for $100 million, which would be about a billion in our day and age, $1 billion. It didn’t happen, obviously. Still very important… I think the president may be onto something."

As Scotto erroneously said the year “1867,” she was looking down, as if at notes.

No, he flew to Greenland on a mission in front of the world in order to buy a few Inuits a few strong maga drinks, who then signed the country over to his father on a napkin in a diner.

So everything is clear with Greenland - only the officials of the country haven't realised it yet. 😁
