Pardons issued for several violent Jan 6th people

CNN:: includes individuals like Julian Khater, who assaulted US Capitol Police officer Brian Sicknick and later pled guilty to assaulting officers with a dangerous weapon; Devlyn Thompson, who hit a police officer with a metal baton; and Robert Palmer, a Florida man who attacked police with a fire extinguisher, a wooden plank and a pole.

It's not a great start.

I'm absolutely disgusted. He really is a waste of oxygen. Other than that I'm totally lost for words about this situation 😠

I guess if there's any positive I can see in this at least these morons will have their thuggery as part of their criminal record forever - no matter how much he tries, Trump can't erase that one. I hope potential employers hold it over their heads for eternity, too.

If I were any of those three individuals, I would not be hoping for any assistance from the Police when and if they run into trouble of some sort.

More likely to end up on the end of some friendly fire.

He's also:

  • Withdrawn from the World Health Organisation
  • Withdrawn from the OECD Global Tax Deal to prevent large corporates exploiting tax havens
  • Directed the Federal Government that trans people do not exist, and that a person must only be referred to by their assigned gender at birth, and dismissed any trans from the military
  • Cancelled all offshore wind farms
  • Illegally ended birthright citizenship
  • Illegally created Elon Musk's Department of Grifting Efficiently
  • Cancelled security clearances for all 51 intelligence officials who signed the letter about the Biden laptop story
  • Issued security clearances, bypassing FBI background checks, for his lackeys
  • Reinstated schedule F so he can fire half the federal government and replace them with handpicked lackeys
  • Removed all discrimination protections against LGBTQIA+

If you haven't read the Project 2025 Mandate for Leadership, you should. Because it's his policy, and it's a fascist nightmare. The USA is screwed.

It's a perfect start for his MAGA base, they'll forgive a lot of other broken promises because of this.

It's also a useful signal to his supporters that violence on his behalf is fine.

So, he's already started the heat on Panama...wonder how long it'll be before he goes at Canada, Greenland, etc.

I'd say he'll "stop the war" by handing Ukraine an ultimatum - give Russia all the territory you've lost and stop fighting, or we freeze you out and you get invaded.

I'd say he'll also throw his weight into the NATO argument and cause issues there too.

Meanwhile, he's also spending the day signing Executive Orders for any number of things...some of these will come to light over the next day or so and could be quite telling about the future direction of this administration

In the 2024 U.S. presidential election, exit polls indicate that Donald Trump received approximately 46% of the Hispanic vote, a significant increase from the 32% he secured in 2020.

It's estimated that approximately 8.1 million Hispanic voters cast their ballots for Trump.

Trump won a margin of approximately 2.3 million votes.

Trump signs executive order attempting to end birthright citizenship: Washington Post

The U.S. government will no longer recognize the citizenship of children born in the United States to immigrants who lack legal status, one of several immigration-related executive orders President Donald Trump issued Monday from the Oval Office.

Trump’s order seeks to reinterpret the 14th Amendment of the Constitution, which grants citizenship to all people born on U.S. soil, by excluding babies born to parents who are in the country without legal status. The changes would apply to future births and block U.S government agencies from issuing documentation recognizing citizenship. Legal scholars say the order is illegal and will be quickly challenged in the courts.

The birthright order was one of several immigration and border-related actions signed by the president.

Trump said during his inaugural speech that he will invoke the Alien Enemies Act of 1798, a wartime authority, to deploy the “full and immense power of federal and state law enforcement” to eradicate foreign gangs and criminals from the country. The act has been deployed only three times during conflicts, most recently during World War II, when U.S. officials forced 120,000 Japanese Americans and others to live in prison camps.

They already have come to light. They're published on the News page at https://whitehouse.gov - and they are abhorrent almost to the one.

A semi legitimate far right billionaires and Christian fanatics dictatorship by any other name.

Anybody running a book on when and how many impeachments proceedings will be brought against him in the next 4 years ?

Whilst the difficult we can do immediately, the impossible takes a bit longer. However, miracles you will have to wait for.

The Late Show with Stephen Colbert

"Trump was sworn in by Chief Justice Roberts.

One problem Trump did not place his hand on the Bible for the oath of office.

When the ceremony was going to be outside he was going to put his hand on the Bible but when they moved it inside the fire
marshal wouldn't allow it. Safety First"
