It's depressing that we have to share the same planet with people like this. An out and out racist.

I truly do not understand why people like that woman, Netanyahu and his Cabinet, and the IDF are not facing sanctions for what is in effect war crimes. Hamas is very much a terrorist organisation, but at this point so is the Israeli Government!

Her claims that "god gave" Gaza to the Jewish aren't even borne out by the bible - Gaza was not part of the biblical Israel.

The ICC should issue arrest warrants for Netanyahu and his cabinet cronies as they have done for Putin. If anything their actions are worse than his.

There would be many countries (124) in the world they could not travel to without being arrested. Unfortunately it doesn't include the USA, Russia, China or India.

It's possible we could see the back of Netanyahu and his nut job cabinet sooner rather than later and not directly because of the war in Gaza.

'We prefer dying to serving in the IDF': Israel in battle over Haredi conscription | The Times of Israel

An interesting point is that the Haredi birth rate is very high. 10+ children in a family is not uncommon and by the end of the decade they will comprise 16% of the population. So if that trend continues it won't be that long before they form the majority of the Israeli population. And then Israel is in real trouble.

Think Iran on steroids.

An Israeli hero of October 7th indicates the Hannibal Directive previously said to have ended in 2016 was employed on October 7th:

YNet: Why do you decide to attack the vans?

"Because something in my gut felt that they could be on them."

Maybe that's how you kill them. They are your soldiers.

"True. But I decide that this is the right decision, that it is better to stop the kidnapping and that they are not taken."

Looking back do you feel you did the right thing?

"I feel I did the right thing."

Is this the command? Hannibal's order?

"In the order itself, there are several gradual things that need to be done. You need to fire at blocking centers and control points, and in case of detection, you need to do this as well."

It was introduced by the Israeli military in 1986 and intended to prevent the capture of soldiers up to and including causing almost certain death to the captured soldier. By eliminating capture it was Intended to prevent all subsequent costly negotiations for the return of hostages.

The interview adds to growing evidence the doctrine was active and employed on October 7th in relation to Israeli civilians. A purpose for which it was never intended or legitimate.

They have the universal get-out-of-jail-free card, shouting "antisemitism!" every time someone criticises them.

Which is an awful thing to do, both because it cynically exploits and ignores the terrible experiences of the people who have experienced, and continue to experience, actual real antisemitism, and because using it over and over again as an excuse to get away with whatever you want dilutes the term itself, possibly to the point where it loses its effectiveness.

Israel's mostly non-political weekly rally for return of the hostages makes a decision to join with the anti-Netanyahu and anti-government protest:

Times of Israel: “Prime Minister Netanyahu, after you abandoned our families on October 7, and after 176 days when you didn’t bring a deal [for their return], and because you are continually engaged in torpedoing a deal, we have realized that you are the obstacle to the deal. You are the obstacle. You are the one who stands between us and the return home of our loved ones,”

The hostage families and supporters will march for the first time with anti-government demonstrators calling for Netanyahu's resignation.

Interesting article from one scholars perspective on the difference between ultra-orthodox jews and Zionists.

I'd always thought they were one and the same but from this article it seems the world would be a much more peaceful place without the Zionists. And of course all the terrorist groups who oppose them such Hammas.

Good lord though, the comments section is a cesspool. Is that really how people in Israel think and act?!?

Haredim typically have large families along with what many people perceive as too much state support. In practice there are several branches which refuse state assistance because they don't want to recognise the state even for that purpose. That probably balances things out a little. As you might imagine not much material wealth and 51% living below the poverty line.
