He may not have been intentionally trying to mislead, but the fact that both him and Bishop did it isn't a good look. Hopefully it was just a one-off?

Let me guess, he did his own research and asked Winston ?

I've done my own research and found Chris Bishop was a tobacco lobbyist.

Does it count?

Someone linked to an old Chris Bishop interview from 2012-ish (while he was still at Philip Morris) on YouTube last week on Mastodon. I'll see if I can find it again.

Its with great amusement that I read that Shane Jones said the protests are "Anti-democratic"  whist ignoring his leaders foray into the gangster squad that was the anti-vaxer protesters on parliament grounds.

Not even a month in government and already being protested. Great leadership there.

It's only anti-democratic when it's against them. If it's against the other party or a minority, it's "Freedom of speech".

Like in the USA. If it's a Nazi rally in Charlottesville, Trump says it's a democratic demonstration, with "good people on both sides".

If it's a Black Lives Matter rally, then it's a "riot".

Or, in another example, like in the USA they wear those "Fuck your feelings" t-shirts, but when people point out their flaws, the idiots shout "I'm being cancelled".

Waitangi Day should be fun this year. I generally tend to think they are unnecessarily disrespectful of the PM of the day. The last few governments including National have been making good faith efforts to improve the situation. Not always with the best results, but at least they have tried. So the treatment they sometimes get especially from the Harawiras is in my opinion often unjustified.

But this year ... I don't think they'll be very welcome, and I won't be able to find it in me to disapprove.

Perhaps Hipkins will make a point of difference and attend, possibly be welcomed?

Unlike running an airline, he can not do anything about voters who criticise him publicly.

I got caught out on the way in to work this morning. Quite happy to sit there as it makes no difference to me but I imagine it would have been fairly stressful for anyone who would be in trouble for a late start or docked hours. Just a slow crawl, no real drama to speak of.

Shane Jones comes across as an angry old man shouting at kids on the street playing ball and also shout at the damn clouds. He should be long time retired. Its also disturbing that a politician in a democratic country has no idea what democracy is.
