Trump still wins, as he can declare if it weren't for pesky laws, he could bring back America's golden shower.

neb: Looks like he has, in a typical piece of ignorant stupidity, taken on the harder-to-defend case of targeting biological sex rather than gender as a social construct.  There's a whole pile of different conditions collected under the general term intersex which don't fit either of the above, or fit both of the above.

Thinking a bit about this, I wonder if it's another case of what happened with the CDA ("Communications Decency Act", Internet censorhip law) in 1996 where they had to find an expert witness to defend it in a legal challenge.  Since every expert they went to told them what they were asking was impossible, they got someone who was either a botanist or biologist to appear as their IT expert witness because no-one who knew what they were talking about could do it.

This may be something similar, every medical professional they went to said "it doesn't work like that" so they grabbed an intern and got them to make up a definition instead.

https://www.axios.com/2025/01/24/trump-third-term-republican-constitution-ogles

I knew it was just a matter of time before some Republican dropkick tried to introduce something like this, purely to get on the orange buffoon's good side. 🙄

However:

The measure is an extreme long-shot: It would need a two-thirds vote in both chambers of Congress and be ratified by 38 states to be added to the Constitution.

Thank Christ for that. But having said that, I wonder how many more times this stunt will be attempted before his second term is finished?

  • Or as Roger Stone puts it "dirty tricks"
You can just use the word "Effective".

Its crazy, and thats not harsh enough. Its not about politics.

A guy from way back that I cannot quote due to Godwins Law, only wanted one thing, to take over the world. He wasn't interested in his country or his people that got bombed or died in conflict, or whose existence (managed by the state) was cast aside in favour of war spending.

Putin, who I can mention is the same. He wants Russian Federation to go back to the USSR. Again, doesnt care about his people, all 70 million of them. who generally lead a 2nd or 3rd world existence, as 650 Billion garnered from the massive mineral reserves is set aside as a war chest. Russian citizens should be living the dream as Americans were decades ago. But again, based one one guys ego, they arent. They are dieing on the war fronts, and who cares about the economy?

Trump is the same. Ego driven. Doesnt care about the 300 million people, its about his ego being The Man. Lets get Canada as a state, lets potentially use military force to take over Greenland, a Denmark territory. Sounds a bit like Putin and the other guy. He is as much as a dictator as the other two. Yet its in a democratic country. Lets ignore his sex allegations, hush money, going bankrupt a few times while his failed building projects left workers unpaid.

If the GOP presidential nomination was held tomorrow he would fail, as would an election. We are days in and thats the theme as I see online.

As I mentioned a while back I hope he doesnt do what he did last time, say a lot and not deliver. I hope he delivers on the election, post election drivel he says he will do. That might be bad if not terrible, but perhaps the US GOP and voters will actually realise the fallacy here and vote for someone who WANTS to make America great again, factually. The political spectrum is not relevant, we vote for those that will be a public servant for us, not one that serves his own ego driven purpose to the detriment of the populous.

This Trump's investor's life is ruined. Summary: don't do gambling if you don't know the games rules, with money you can't afford to lose.

I've mentioned that "shorting" a stock is very dangerous, because it exposes you to infinite losses. Getting a stock option is extremely advanced trading. So much so I've given up on trying explain it, but it's easier just to tell you the result of this Trump's supporter $1.2 million investment.

This video presenter is incorrectly calling calling Trump Media & Technology Group Corp. (TMTG) is not publicly traded under the ticker symbol "DJT". It's not; it's DWAC.

I ran the numbers based on today's (Trump's Truth Social) DWAC stock price. A reasonable estimate from this Trump supporter's $1.2 million upfront cost suggests he's likely lost between $600,000 to $1.1 million so far.

TLDR: After 4 days, his option still has a time value of nearly 3 months. However, the time value has likely decreased due to time decay. The DWAC stock price significant fall means it's coming close to impossible to ever breaking even, even if if there's a late rally.

Republicans: 'Do as I say, not as I do'

A local mid-west conservative radio host in the state of Wisconsin Dan O'Donnell said this during a high school graduation speech last year.
-----------
As the philosopher John Stuart Mill once said, “If all mankind minus one were of one opinion, mankind would be no more justified in silencing that one person than he, if he had the power, would be justified in silencing mankind.” In other words, even if we disagree with someone, we must still respect their right to speak their mind and express their ideas.

Unfortunately, in recent years, we have seen a rise in “cancel culture,” which seeks to silence and punish individuals who express unpopular or controversial opinions. Cancel culture is a threat to free speech and to the open exchange of ideas. It creates a climate of fear and intimidation, where people are afraid to speak their minds for fear of being canceled.

We must recognize the traps that cancel culture presents. We live in a society that has become increasingly divided and polarized, where people are quick to demonize those who disagree with them. Individual morals are often attacked by those who merely believe differently.

The writer Salman Rushdie noted, “What is freedom of expression? Without the freedom to offend, it ceases to exist.” We must defend the right of all people to express their opinions, even if we disagree with them, and we must reject the idea that canceling or silencing someone is an acceptable form of discourse.
-----------
So on Tuesday, he criticized a local meteorologist for her two Instagram posts

"EXCLUSIVE: @CBS58 meteorologist Sam Kuffel makes a pair of vulgar Instagram posts while spreading the lie that Elon Musk was giving a Nazi salute during yesterday's Presidential Inauguration."

And the meteorologist got fired.

"A spokesperson for Weigel Broadcasting confirmed to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel that Kuffle had been relieved of her post but declined further comment as it was a ‘personnel issue.’"

He really isn't a comedian, eh - he should give up trying. Ridiculous that he has all that money and yet he still can't buy a sense of humour.

These are a bit funnier though - some of this week's Trump-related cartoons:

(This one features the abovementioned moron's infamous Nazi salute):

Finally, I wonder how accurate this is? ie, how many Americans who voted for Trump didn't really realise what they were in for, when they were only hoping for cheaper eggs? 🙄

With Nazis, jokes are one of those things. Göring once said that ‘he would rather be called “Meier” than ever have an Allied bomb fall on Germany.’

The later short joke ‘Good day, Mr Meier!’ in the public was enough for a notsoindefinite stay in a concentration camp.

BTW: … what about those concentration camps on mars, Mr Musk? 😈

„Chicago Police will not help with deportations after the city council rejects changes to sanctuary status“.

I think it is now only a matter of time before the ‘regular police’ are replaced by former, pardoned ‘patriots’ on duty. In our country, that was the SA at the time, which was consistently equipped with ‘intelligent’, powerful lads, who could do so little with books that they burned them. Probably just because they were cold.

I don't know if they voted for Trump as much as voted no-confidence in Democrats who have pretty much lost touch with the electorate.  You've got your guaranteed votes from the MAGA-hatters on one side and always-vote-Democrat on the other, but then a possibly sizeable group either voting against Trump (so Democrat) or voting no-confidence in the Democrats (so Trump).  You can see this in the presidential debate, Trump was, well, Trump while Kamala Harris delivered her usual word salad that would have appealed to hardcore vegans who were going to vote Democrat anyway but I doubt convinced anyone else to vote that way.

If Trump had been a better orator rather than a dementing narcissist the Republicans would probably have won by the landslide that Trump thinks they had, because there was no effective opposition to him (there was only ineffective opposition).
