Astronaut Butch Wilmore mentions rhetoric after a CNN interview question starting 3:00:

“Butch and I knew this was a test flight,” [Astronaut Suni Williams] told CNN’s Cooper, acknowledging the pair has been prepared for contingencies and understood that the stay in space might be extended. “We knew that we would probably find some things (wrong with Starliner) and we found some stuff, and so that was not a surprise,” she said. A few days earlier interviewed by CBS, Suni Williams explains some of the reasons for staying longer. One reason is the required personnel numbers to maintain the station. The 'stranded?' question is asked at 5:30:

It was said way back at the time that the schedule was set by SpaceX capability and other crew rotations.

kingdragonfly,      The 'instant karma' has little 'long term' effect.
All Trump has to do is dogwhistle to Evangelicals about 'hate of the day'.

Dogwhistle to TechBros about taxes and regulations, set my Pyramid and Ponzi Scheme free.
A President that runs his own MemeCoin 'steal' truly one of us.

Alternative facts from God, all it takes.
You even get the vacant, 'see Trump is doing things', no care about impact of these 'things'.

Leopards are getting morbidly obese from endless diet of faces, yet.
Its like the flagellation of Monks of old, scars of true believer close to God, give me more.

They are also dedicated to exporting this all, we can expect NZ politics to get crazier.
Egalitarian societies are so Woke, the ultimate society Dog-eat-Dog to entertain/enrich the rich folks.
The gladiatorial ring the ultimate meritocracy.

Pick a dystopian movie or game ( no one reads anymore) and make that your template for society.

Funny how all the talk of "I will be lowering grocery prices" basically disappeared the minute he was declared the winner 🙄

Fairly sure this one is Photoshopped, but it was pretty well done 😃

This is a very witty read about the possible (and probable) future breakups inside Trump world:

https://www.politico.com/news/magazine/2025/02/14/trumpworld-couples-relationships-00203835

In early January, [Steve] Bannon warned [Elon, obviously] Musk that he, as a “convert” to MAGA, needed to sit back and study rather than take over, or “we’re going to rip your face off.” Bannon clearly doesn’t think Musk has listened to that warning. In an interview with Corriere della Sera later that month, Bannon called Musk “truly evil” and said that he would have him kicked out by Inauguration. So far, Musk is still in.

Yep quickymart, it's par for the course, in Autocracies 'You keep what you kill'

You also keep lower ranks fighting each other least they turn on you.
If they do then...

El Duce had similar

Galeazzo Ciano: Mussolini's son-in-law and also Minister of Foreign Affairs. He supported the 1943 coup against Mussolini and was later executed for it.

Emilio De Bono: A key figure in the early Fascist movement and one of the Quadrumvirs who organized the March on Rome. While initially a close confidant of Mussolini, De Bono's influence waned over time. He was also among those who voted against Mussolini in the Grand Council meeting of 1943 and was executed along with Ciano.

Putin put his Bannon in prison as he was too mouthy. Igor Girkin/Strelkov.
Once FSB agent key in the 2014 Russian operation, the fake Donbass independence movement.

Bannon is no match for Elon Musk, Peter Thiel and TechBros gathered around him.
The Trumplicans, are primarily loyal to Trump, Evangelicals ok to suffer for Trump, I don't see Bannon with power.

Trump is supporting school voucher implementation in every state of the nation:

In Texas, the actual Texans don't seem to be keen on it at all - the measure has passed multiple times in the Texas Senate and failed to pass into law multiple times in the Texas House of Representatives:

It isn't the law in Texas, yet.

Evangelical education nearly ruined me. Now the Christian right is coming for public schools: The Guardian
...
Twenty-five years later, Donald Trump and the Christian nationalist movement that put him in the White House (twice) are seeking to transform public education into something similar to what I was reared on, where science, history and even economics are taught through an evangelical conservative lens, while prayer and Bible reading are foundations of the curriculum.

These efforts test the boundaries of the constitution’s establishment clause, reversing a century of civil rights victories in public schools, and have the potential to fundamentally alter the way American children learn – and what they learn about.

The push comes in two forms: injecting more Christian rhetoric and rituals into public school curriculum and for the first time in history, using tax dollars to subsidize private religious schools, generally via vouchers that cover student tuition. Each has the potential to bolster the education of America’s most privileged students, while downgrading services for children of low-income families.

^ satire but quite funny!

^ no surprises here! He played everyone who voted for him (MAGA or otherwise) for fools

^ this last one is quite concerning, I think it makes the orange buffoon actually sound like a dictator. Of course, the MAGA crowd won't care 🙄

Read this and weep ...

The NY Times -  Trump Suggests No Laws Are Broken if He’s ‘Saving His Country’   (free unlocked link)

15 Feb 2025

He who saves his Country does not violate any Law.”

President Trump on Saturday posted on social media a single sentence that appears to encapsulate his attitude as he tests the nation’s legal and constitutional boundaries in the process of upending the federal government and punishing his perceived enemies.  ...

Mr. Trump, through his words and actions, has repeatedly suggested that surviving two assassination attempts is evidence that he has divine backing to enforce his will. ...

I assume that the USA will have to prepare for the establishment of a Trump dynasty, which will be passed on to children and later grandchildren after/in a 3rd term of office. The issue has been settled for a long time.

A poem by Michael Rosen (2014)

Fascism

I sometimes fear that people think that fascism arrives in fancy dress
worn by grotesques and monsters as played out in endless re-runs of the Nazis.

Fascism arrives as your friend.
It will restore your honour,
make you feel proud,
protect your house,
give you a job,
clean up the neighbourhood,
remind you of how great you once were,
clear out the venal and the corrupt,
remove anything you feel is unlike you ...

It doesn't walk in saying,
"Our programme means militias, mass imprisonments, transportations, war and persecution."
