Stuff - Trump’s confidential plan to put Ukraine in a stranglehold
18 Feb 2025
ANALYSIS: Donald Trump’s demand for a US$500b (NZ$871b) “payback” from Ukraine goes far beyond US control over the country’s critical minerals. ...
The agreement covers the “economic value associated with resources of Ukraine”, including “mineral resources, oil and gas resources, ports, other infrastructure”, leaving it unclear what else might be encompassed. ...
If this draft were accepted, Trump’s demands would amount to a higher share of Ukrainian GDP than reparations imposed on Germany at the Versailles Treaty ...
At the same time, he seems willing to let Russia off the hook entirely. ...
He warned that Ukraine would be handed to Putin on a plate if it rejected the terms. ...
[Zelensky] has to pick between the military violation of Ukraine by Putin, and the economic violation of Ukraine by his own ally.

Fairly sure this one is Photoshopped, but it was pretty well done 😃
Another version of this:
The Washington Post - Opinion: America’s new foreign policy: Who cares?
today
After four disorienting weeks, the Trump administration’s foreign policy has become crystal clear: Screw the rest of the world, allies and adversaries alike.
Who cares if Russian dictator Vladimir Putin gets to keep the wide swath of Ukraine’s territory he seized in a brutal, unprovoked invasion? Why should the Ukrainians even be at the table when we talk to the Russians about a peace deal? After all, President Donald Trump promised to quickly end the war; he and Putin can decide the terms.
Maybe the United States would be more concerned about Ukraine’s sovereignty if we were given half of the country’s valuable mineral resources. Does that make us sound like mobsters running a protection racket? Well, the world is a tough place.*
Who cares if the leaders of wealthy, technologically advanced nations such as Britain, France, Germany and Italy - effectively demilitarized, beneath the U.S. umbrella, since the apocalypse of World War II - decide they now have no choice but to massively rearm? What if Europe is soon bristling with weapons, and what if Putin sees this buildup as a threat?
What could possibly go wrong?

Somebody told me this little joke yesterday. It's a tell-all.
During a lull at a White House dinner, Melania Trump leaned over to chat with Elon Musk.
"I bought Donald a parrot for his birthday. That bird is so smart, Donald has already taught him to say over two hundred words!"
“That’s very impressive," said Musk “but you do realize he just speaks the words. He doesn't really understand what they all mean.”
"Oh, I know", replied Melania, “but neither does the parrot!”
The "stable genius" rolls forth with more great, uh, wisdoms 🙄
kingdragonfly: I've talked to some Ukrainians who believe that Russia is punishing Ukraine for getting close to the US and Europe.
I've told them that Putin originally said he invaded just to get rid of the Nazis in Ukraine, even though the president if Jewish, and lost relatives during the holocausts.
Putin: "We will seek to demilitarize and denazify Ukraine, as well as bring to justice those who committed numerous bloody crimes against civilians, including citizens of the Russian Federation."
Yes well, Putin and Trump use the same Goebbels playbook.
If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it. The lie can be maintained only for such time as the State can shield the people from the political, economic and/or military consequences of the lie. It thus becomes vitally important for the State to use all of its powers to repress dissent, for the truth is the mortal enemy of the lie, and thus by extension, the truth is the greatest enemy of the State.
MAGA anyone ??
Musk anyone ?
Whilst the difficult we can do immediately, the impossible takes a bit longer. However, miracles you will have to wait for.
kingdragonfly: Trump: the supreme leader of self-delusion! A narcissistic windbag allergic to truth. Flattery is his only diet, and he gulps it down like a starving hog at a trough, never noticing the sycophants feeding him scraps of lies.
He worships strongmen because they mirror his fantasies.
If incompetence were a throne, he'd be king, ruling over a crumbling empire of yes-men and bad decisions!
And let’s not forget his truly special gift - the uncanny ability to mangle every number he touches. Whether it’s crowd sizes, poll results, or economic stats, he twists every figure like a pretzel, inflating his own greatness while shrinking everyone else into irrelevance. If the truth were a simple arithmetic problem, he’d still manage to fail the test, then blame the calculator!
