"Rubber bullets" is a bit misleading. These cartridges are "less‑lethal munitions"

The LA police are most likely used foam/sponge rounds. Wile it likely to to inflict pain without penetration, but they can still seriously injure.

37 mm launchers seem to be used to "pepper" a crowd

But I'm seeing the LA police using the twice as heavy 40 mm launchers (single-shot) deliver heavier sponge rounds with more impact. It's supposed to be used at longer range, but seemed to be used a very close ranges in LA.

At the ongoing Los Angeles protests, law enforcement is most likely using:

While designed to minimize injury, they carry real risk of serious harm if fired too close or to sensitive areas, which is definitely what I'm seeing in videos.

At last, some pushback ...  😊

The NY Times - Judge Blocks Trump From Deploying National Guard in Los Angeles

breaking

A federal judge issued an order late Thursday blocking President Trump from deploying members of the California National Guard in Los Angeles, and ordered the administration to return control of the forces to Gov. Gavin Newsom.

The restraining order from District Judge Charles R. Breyer, which takes effect Friday at noon Pacific time, delivered a sharp rebuke to President Trump’s effort to deploy thousands of National Guard troops on the streets of an American city, a move that has contributed to nearly a week of political rancor and protests across the country.

His actions were illegal - both exceeding the scope of his statutory authority and violating the Tenth Amendment to the United States Constitution,” Judge Breyer wrote of Mr. Trump’s orders.

The administration is expected to appeal.

EDIT

Update: It was too good to be true ...  😞

The Washington Post - Appeals court says Trump can keep California National Guard deployed for now

breaking

SAN FRANCISCO - An appeals court late Thursday allowed President Donald Trump, for now, to keep the California National Guard deployed in response to protests in Los Angeles, blocking a federal judge’s move just hours earlier that ordered the Trump administration to return control of the troops to California Gov. Gavin Newsom.

Reuters - Kennedy's new vaccine adviser was expert witness against Merck vaccine

June 12 (Reuters) - One of the new vaccine advisers picked by U.S. Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has earned thousands of dollars as an expert witness in litigation against Merck’s Gardasil vaccine, court records show.

Martin Kulldorff, a biostatistician and epidemiologist who publicly criticized COVID-era lockdowns, is one of eight new members named by Kennedy on Wednesday to the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices, a highly influential panel that recommends which shots should be administered to the American public.

Summary

  •  Kulldorff served as expert witness against Merck's Gardasil
  •  Kennedy fired previous vaccine advisers citing drug industry conflicts
  •  CDC rules say advisers can't be expert witness in vaccine cases

Hypocrisy 101  🙄

Had to grin when Arnold Schwarzenegger grumbled that, "...it's time to stop whining and take action!"

He's right, of course, but 'actioners' seem to be thin on the ground in the Divided States of A.

Trump crowned? No faux King way!

Iran strikes back against Israel. Not a Trump issue, but its heavily related.

US removed many non essential people a few days ago, now there was a strike by Israel. They knew it.

Trump said back in the day, no wars started under me. Biden caused them. If I was in power, no wars.

Since...  UKR war has got a lot worse, partly due to Trumps great relationship with Putin, although in recent times "I think he has been playing me" (shoulda watched the news more)

Israel the US ally, started a war against Palestine, pretending it was against Hamas.

Israel now strikes Iran, so thats a war

Last, but not least, Trump is at war against his own legal citizens, and as usual bypasses the law and the Constitution.

It shows after his first stint which was words and meaningless, he is now enabled. And boy, does it show. Trump 2.0 Unleashed, and its failing on every level. Unless you listen to his speeches. Plus ignore the "see what happens" in each and all paragraphs.

Inept.

EDIT

Sorry, the Isreal attacks is not a war, its an "operation" Putin-esque

I think the argument about Dems needing to do this or that are moot.

Given the absolute stupidity and inability to identify self-interest by American voters.

Trump just has to shout 'deport all the migrants', 'They are eating cats and dogs'
Even if they have a vested interest in migrants staying, they vote for hate !
Its not like they did not know Trump was a calamity last time.

He does it with the tariff thing 'they are ripping us off', 'we are making them suffer'

Vincent Scardina supported Donald Trump’s tough stance on immigration at the ballot box. But that decision came back to bite the roofing boss when ICE detained a third of his workforce.

The six men, all from Nicaragua, were pulled over in a work truck on May 27 while heading to a job—and carted off to jail.

According to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, deputies helped transport the men to a local detention facility “for deportation.”

The Florida boss Vincent Scardina, who hired them, had no idea they were illegal immigrants? Vincent voted for an ant-immigrant candidate.

I suspect he loved hard-working, compliant workers as much as a Southern plantation slave owners "loved" their slaves.

Mary Boykin Chesnut's Diary – A Diary from Dixie

Mary Chesnut, a prominent Southern plantation mistress, wrote in her Civil War-era diary about the grief of slave owners who "loved" their slaves.

James Henry Hammond – Letters and Papers

A slave owner, Hammond often described his slaves in paternalistic terms. In his letters, he sometimes lamented the loss of "trusted" enslaved people, claiming deep affection for them, even while detailing brutal control and sexual exploitation.

Slave Narratives -- Federal Writers’ Project (1930s).

In the 1930s, former enslavers described crying and being distraught when slaves left, at the time of emancipation. The former slaveholders often state that they had been "good" masters

The NY Times - Trump, Who Has Likened Himself to a King, Bristles at ‘No Kings’ Protests

12 June 2025

I don’t feel like a king, I have to go through hell to get stuff approved,” President Trump said of the planned demonstrations against his administration. ...

No, no. We’re not a king,” Mr. Trump said. “We’re not a king at all, thank you very much.”

Note the Royal "We".  😉

Trump's bestest Birthday wish, the Nativity of Jesus Trump.

New Zealand Time
Sunday 10 am
actual start 10:30 am - noon

Bad news - no professional seat warmers

Fact‑checkers PolitiFact confirmed that a Craigslist ad offering $1,000 in crypto is fake.

The ad used a photo from a Russian military parade, included bizarre instructions about “maximum perception control” and specifically targeting people of color

Good news, Weather prediction (as of this posting time):

Scattered thunderstorms. Military won't cancel for rain, but will if there's a thunderstorm to "protect the public"

Chance of rain 60%.

Locally heavy rainfall possible.

Better luck next time

It's is hurricane season in Washington DC. NOAA predict an above-average season, with 13 - 19 named storms, 6–10 hurricanes, and 3–5 potentially reaching major hurricane strength

Historically, most hurricane activity happens between August and mid-October. So no chance for one tomorrow.

Speaking of Trump's parade weather, you'll remember shortly before Trump won, Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene posted on X (formerly Twitter):

Not sure who "they are". Previously she claimed Jews had a space laser. Maybe she's referring to the Democrat pedophiles that rigged the 2020 Biden election.

[similar Radio NZ link]

  •  Disclosures show assets worth at least $1.6 billion
  •  Trump reports $57.35 million from token sales at World Liberty
  •  Mar-a-Lago, other Florida golf clubs generated at least $217.7 million in income
