A FFS moment, that was a short within 2 weeks. So, Netanyahu is the US Intelligence and Diplomatic Service. Clearly the within 2 weeks was a token gesture to "allow" diplomacy. Apparently Trump was prepared to meet the Iran Supreme leader, but the latter was incommunicado as is hiding out in a bunker from an Israeli assasination probability.

"Another "forever" Middle East war?"

Id be very surprised if it wasnt. Iran and its evil allies can go guerilla to the US bases in the region. Strait of Hormuz is another target.

Watching the news right now, the three hits are to force Iran to diplomacy. It may well do, but it strikes me as now an ongoing war.

You look at how fawning Trump was when Kim would meet with him at North Korean border.
He wanted the Taliban to come to USA.
He is always taking of leaders meeting him. Upset that at G7 he could not meet Putin.
Dictators and despots are not a problem, as long as they give him a selfie.

So probably worse than Khamenei insulting him, was not meeting with him as a fellow minion of Putin.
A grand threesome.
So 100% nixing a meeting probably sealed it.

For war, well IRGC has been at war with west and chanting 'Death to America' for a very long time.

Many in Syria have no regret for eliminating IRGC, their armed support of Assads oppression and torture of his people.
IRGC does similar to its own, its women its girls, children who may be beaten sometimes to death for dress code or more frivolous reasons. The suppression of protest with real bullets followed by executions.
Oh yes the happy song, western call to be happy not what IRGC tolerates either.

No heros here.
Just bitter old men waiting for their god.

"was not meeting with him as a fellow minion of Putin."

From what Ive seen in the media, the Supreme Leader was in a bunker, avoiding assassination, could not be contacted by his underlings. So a meeting never occured. Probably now used as a means to attack, rather than a means to discuss. If Trump was the peacemaker, hates wars, its understandable that Khomeini wasnt contactable, so lets let that play out. Tell Netanyahu to hold fire, get the topmost meeting in a few days, nothing to lose. But no, Trump and Netanyahu want the trigger finger and regime change, pure and simple.

Also, if the nuclear threat was such a huge issue, then dont attack Iran and kill Iranians and Israelis. Trump can tell Iran, no nukes, no enrichment, if we cannot agree, B2's are on the way to destroy your nuclear infrastaructure. Thats because we dont want war and citizen collateral damage, but we will take out those sites if you dont. Thats todays news, and importantly, intentionally did the US/Israels best to avoid a settlement, as the desire is solely regime change. The result is we have 9 days of lives, etc being lost, when these 3 strikes could have happened 9 days ago, if no deal was in the offing.

Total destruction it seems. May have been, but the MOP have never been used in combat. The facilities are 100 metres deep, likely to need one MOP to make a hole, another MOP is that hole to get deeper, yet its supposedly total destruction. As I said, it may have been but they wont know till its examines by satellite images, and Israeli flyovers. Not important, if its on the "tweet", its correct.......

Thoughts for those in the region. Hopefully Iran buckles

The Washington Post - U.S. attacks will have ‘everlasting consequences,’ Iran’s top diplomat warns

The response:

100%. Iran was attacked but to say its innocent is a massive understatement. Israel is FAR from a saint as well. While there were some diplomatic discussions that didnt go far, they existed. If thats an issue, and it is, tell Iran that if you dont stop enrichment, we will, you are warned. But no. President Netanyahu and Prime Minister Trump...  They both want regime change so used the now dead on both sides to make that happen.

Outcomes are that A) Iran folds. or B) they dont fold so we are in a technical WW3.

I agree, the orange buffoon is well-known for being, uh, "economical" with the truth, so I would take his "total destruction" comments with a grain of salt until we hear something more definitive.

I also wonder if Iran will report the damage on their side accurately.

Iran has confirmed the three sites were hit. Nothing about how bad. The sad thing is, Iran is a rogue state, as is Israel, especially when you look at what they are doing to Gaza, apparently that was going after Hamas, yet starving men, women and children die when they go to an Aid station for food. Trump is a rogue POTUS, Judiciary and the Constitution are annoying to him, a pretty bad combo.

A classic headline 😐:

Reuters - Pakistan condemns Trump's bombing of Iran - a day after nominating him for Peace Prize

ISLAMABAD, June 22 (Reuters) - Pakistan condemned on Sunday the strikes ordered on its neighbour Iran by Donald Trump, a day after Islamabad had said it would nominate the U.S. President for the Nobel Peace Prize.

This cartoon was originally published in 2020. Prophetic.

LOL. I mean, you know they were only doing it to flatter the orange idiot, but still. The timing would be chef's kiss hilarious if it wasn't so awful.
