Sometimes, strange little artifacts work their way into [Trump's] rhetoric, often for no other reason than that they unexpectedly attracted attention.
Here, for example, is something he wrote in March:
“I just finished speaking with Prime Minister Mark Carney, of Canada. It was an extremely productive call, we agree on many things, and will be meeting immediately after Canada’s upcoming Election to work on elements of Politics, Business, and all other factors, that will end up being great for both the United States of America and Canada. Thank you for your attention to this matter!"
He’s used this formulation sporadically over the years but has really ramped it up in recent months.
Last month, for example, he used it on 17 occasions, up from 14 in May and 14 over the three months before that.
