The NY Times - Judge blocks Trump’s birthright citizenship order in class-action challenge

breaking

A federal judge on Thursday blocked the Trump administration from enforcing a contentious executive order ending birthright citizenship after certifying a lawsuit as a class action, effectively the only way he could impose such a far-reaching limit after a Supreme Court ruling last month.

Ruling from the bench, Judge Joseph N. LaPlante* of the U.S. District Court for the District of New Hampshire said his decision applied nationwide to babies who would have been subject to the executive order, which included the children of undocumented parents ...

That's a tough one. They are helping their country get things, or avoid things from Trump, but that's always emboldening him that he has absolute power and intelligence, which is what he thinks he has

The first leader to speak did a good introduction. No nomination. Skilled diplomacy I thought. I can only hope Trump knew what ECOWAS is. That's all I've seen this 5min clip

Only the brightest (and most caring) are on team Trump.

Trump and his DHS chief, Kristi Noem, abruptly removed Cameron Hamilton after he resisted Trump’s agenda to downsize the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and opposed eliminating the agency during congressional testimony. Ironically Hamilton was appointed because he was a Trump loyalist. Guess he kissed Trump's feet, but wouldn't lick between his toes.

In his place, Trump appointed David Richardson in May 8. Apparently he was seen by Trump as more compliant, who would blindly follow Trump’s directive to scale back federal disaster operations.

Last month, Richardson told four staff he didn’t know the United States had a hurricane season.

David Richardson has not only made no appearance after the devastating flood that killed 100 in Texas, he hasn't appeared publicly anywhere.

Where in the world is the FEMA head? Agency leader hasn’t been seen in over a week sparking concern: The Independent

EMA Acting Administrator David Richardson has been absent during the federal response to the floods in Texas, prompting concerns about his leadership.

Richardson hasn’t visited the site of the floods, the deadliest in the U.S. in a quarter century, ending a longstanding tradition of FEMA leaders being publicly available following natural disasters.
...
Former FEMA officials told the outlet that Richardson being away from the scene has prompted concerns that the Secretary of Homeland Security, Kristi Noem, is in charge of FEMA’s response to the tragedy.

Noem oversees another 21 agencies aside from FEMA.

Former reality TV star, then Trump appointed Transportation secretary, who famously hated public transportation...

Former "Real World" Star Sean Duffy Ominously Accepts NASA Side Hustle: "Time To Take Over Space": Vanity Fair.

Donald Trump has another job for Sean Duffy, the Real World personality turned congressman turned Fox News pundit turned transportation secretary: interim administrator of NASA. “He will be a fantastic leader,” the president said in announcing the appointment, praising Duffy for doing a “TREMENDOUS” job at Transportation.

“Honored to accept this mission,” Duffy posted after the announcement. “Time to take over space.”
...
The appointment comes with the space agency’s future in question, as more than 2,000 employees are expected to be pushed out in the administration’s government purge and steep cuts proposed for its budget. Which isn’t to say Trump—who also established Space Force as the sixth branch of the US military during his first term—is necessarily abandoning his space ambitions, which include “launching American astronauts to plant the Stars and Stripes on the planet Mars,” as he put it in his second inaugural address.

Instead, the weakening of NASA would likely mean the further privatization of space exploration, with the government outsourcing more of its operations to companies like SpaceX—the one that already boasts about $22 billion in federal contracts and is owned by Trump’s former top adviser and political donor, Elon Musk, whose Department of Government Efficiency led the administration’s firing spree.

Totally unfair. He's doing a great job of not doing anything and letting Trump lead the thoughts and prayers.

The Washington Post - Judge orders halt to indiscriminate immigration operations in California

breaking

A federal judge on Friday blocked the Trump administration from conducting indiscriminate immigration stops in several California counties, including Los Angeles, and denying detainees access to lawyers, as the White House continues its sweeping immigration crackdown in the state that has set immigrant communities on edge and sparked protests.

The lawsuit was brought this month by a group of individuals who had been detained or questioned, together with immigrant advocacy groups in Los Angeles, arguing that President Donald Trump’s mass deportations involve tactics that are unconstitutional, including patrolling and rounding up individuals without reasonable justification and refusing legal counsel.

Judge Maame Ewusi-Mensah Frimpong of the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California wrote in the order that the Trump administration agrees that “roving patrols without reasonable suspicion violate the Fourth Amendment to the Constitution and denying access to lawyers violates the Fifth Amendment.” ...
