I heard a voter dissatisfied with Trump that all Trump is doing is arresting people and suing.
He's not fulfilling any campaign promises to make living better, like cheaper groceries.

GOP political platform:
  • "Book ’em, Cook ’em (in court)."
  • "Cuff, Bluff, and Bankrupt."

Ironically after he won the election, he then started saying it was "very hard" to bring down grocery prices - despite campaigning heavily on it.

Surely you're mistaken. Donald Trump lying to the American public? I find that hard to believe. 🤪

Abraham Lincoln

"Government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth."

Franklin D. Roosevelt

"The only thing we have to fear is fear itself."

Trump:

"You shouldn't have medians falling down in the roadway. Median -- you know, the metal things that are always [waves arms chaotically] Somebody had a great -- a great lobbyist because I've never seen them look good. I've been looking at those things with the little -- Right? They're always broken and bad."

The Washington PostTracking Trump

14 Aug 2025

The D.C. police chief expressed optimism about Trump’s National Guard deployment.

  •     What she said: “We’re down in numbers with our D.C. police officers. So this enhanced presence is going to impact us in a positive way,” said D.C. Police Chief Pamela Smith.

  •     Background: President Donald Trump federalized the D.C. police and deployed hundreds of National Guard troops to the city to assist law enforcement.

  •     Related: Trump said today that he plans to ask Congress to extend his 30-day takeover of the police force.*

Is this good news?  😳

Trump's is accelerating US population aging, worsening the worker-to-retiree ratio, and making Social Security’s financing gap harder to fix.

In the last two years of Biden presidency, net international migration added about 3 million people and accounted for 84% of total U.S. population growth.

Without the immigrants, growth would have been minimal. Less immigration going forward means fewer workers relative to retirees.

In all good news for the US retirees and tax payers in general, the US Census Bureau found immigration surge lowered federal deficits by boosting employment, GDP, and tax revenues. If that that surge never happened it would remove those positive tailwinds.

US Population aging is baked in, and can't be undone, but immigration moderates it. The US Census projects the U.S. population will age steadily through 2055.

If Trump policy continues, via the Republicans, growth would be near zero or negative in the 2030s–2050s

Here's a Biden 2024 report, from the US census.

2024, Net International Migration Drives Highest U.S. Population Growth in Decades: US Census

Here's a video on what happens in a demographics collapse. It ain't pretty

South Korea is over

South Korea is heading toward a demographic collapse unlike anything the world has seen before. With the lowest fertility rate ever recorded and a rapidly aging population, the country faces a future of economic decline, shrinking cities, cultural erosion, and a vanishing workforce.

By 2060, nearly half of South Koreans could be over the age of 65, and entire regions may be abandoned as the population continues to shrink.

How did South Korea reach this point? Why might it no longer be possible to reverse the trend? And what does this mean for other countries on a similar path?

This is worth reading ...

The Washington Post - Trump’s answer to numbers he doesn’t like: Change them or throw them away  (unlocked link)

14 Aug 2015

President Donald Trump presented inaccurate crime statistics to justify a federal takeover of D.C. police. He announced plans for the census to stop counting undocumented immigrants. And he ordered the firing of the official in charge of compiling basic statistics about the U.S. economy after a weak jobs report.

This month marked an escalation in Trump’s war on data, as he repeatedly tries to undermine statistics that threaten his agenda and distorts figures to bolster his policies. The latest instances come on top of actions the administration has taken across federal health, climate and education agencies to erase or overhaul data collection to align with the administration’s agenda and worldview. ...

Trump has routinely spread misinformation since the start of his political career, but his efforts in his second term to bend data to support his agenda have invited comparisons to information control in autocratic countries. ...

He can speculate as much as he wants – he won't get it! Unless …

… he uses brute force, which would contradict the name of the award. 😁
