quickymart      Trumps gift shop

To double down the dolt is so proud of his gift shop he drags in world leaders to show it off !

I think he expected them to buy handfuls of the stuff, and maybe they should have to placate the Orange Calamity.

No discounts mind you.

Seeing Seymour is already down for USA style voter suppression.
Maybe Seymour could set one up for ACT in the Beehive.

I can imagine a Trump branded cannon to have similar proportion to a 1750 Mallet's Mortar.

I recommend this long opinion piece:

The NY Times - Opinion - The Mind-Boggling Intrusiveness of Donald J. Trump  (unlocked link)

Aug. 19, 2025

An extract :

Trump’s deviousness, his disregard for the truth and his all-consuming narcissism are exceptional, even among politicians and even among the kind of men and women who seek the presidency.

Any attempt to compare Donald Trump to any other president is a pointless exercise,” Jack Rakove, professor of history and American studies at Stanford, argued in an email:

"His overt acts, craven ambition, delusional beliefs, erratic behaviors, perpetual dishonesty, and mental capacities lie so many norms of deviation apart from all his presidential counterparts that he has to be taken as a unique case.

"Simply asking whether 'any peacetime president has been as intrusive as Donald Trump' virtually answers the question in itself. Of course not - it would have been literally inconceivable."

The NY Times - Texas House Approves Redistricting Maps, Just as Trump Wanted

breaking

The Texas House passed an aggressively partisan congressional map on Wednesday after weeks of legislative combat, giving President Trump the gerrymander he requested - and possibly five new Republican seats in the U.S. House next year.

After more than eight hours of at-times tense and emotional debate, the final vote, 88-52, fell along party lines. It capped bitterly partisan political wrangling, with a Democratic walkout and Republican retaliation, and set off a redistricting fever that has spread from Austin to Sacramento to Albany, N.Y.

The State Senate is expected to vote on the map on Thursday, then send it by the end of the week to Gov. Greg Abbott for his promised signature.

The MAGAs are winning in Texas ...  πŸ™

In USA 10% increase on cheapest Sony PlayStation 5, PS5.

What somewhat sucks is Sony raised the PS5 price in April for Europe, UK, Australia, New Zealand, months before the USA.

Sony will hike PS5 prices Thursday as a result of Trump's trade war: Axios

Sony is raising the price of its PlayStation 5 consoles by $50 each in the U.S. beginning Thursday, the company announced on Wednesday.

Why it matters: The move reflects companies starting to buckle under pressure from President Trump's tariffs, raising prices or signaling that increases are coming.

What they're saying: "Similar to many global businesses, we continue to navigate a challenging economic environment," Sony said in a blog post.

"As a result, we've made the difficult decision to increase the recommended retail price for PlayStation 5 consoles in the U.S. starting on August 21."

The new prices in the U.S. range from $550 to $750.

More from the Governor Newsom Press Office:

The Bulwark also had a look at this today: https://www.thebulwark.com/i/171463922/gavin-newsom-shitposter

But there is one immediate and visible result of Newsom holding a mirror up to our Poster-in-Chief’s Truth Social habits: Trump is no longer posting in all-caps.

A relative of mine who is a Republican posted this on her FB page overnight:

This says it all.

I offer no apology for what I am posting, for this is truly how I feel. This is my opinion, not a debate. If you disagree, or find my position offensive, I'm perfectly fine with that. Feel free to unfriend me if we cannot agree to disagree. I won’t debate or argue my beliefs. I have lived through several United States Presidents prior to our current President Trump. In my lifetime, I have never seen nor heard of a President scrutinized over every word he speaks, humiliated by the public to the point of disgrace, slandered, ridiculed, insulted, lied to/about, threatened with death, had his wife and our First Lady disrespected, & his minor child insulted, threatened & harassed. I am ashamed and saddened by the ruthless, meanspirited, hateful, cruel, biased people who display themselves as having no civic pride, morals, ethics, decency or respect for our country's traditions and values. My elders and teachers taught me many yrs ago to respect our President, whether I voted for them or not. All the news stations & reporters who feel they have the right to perpetuate blatent lies and fabricate "facts" for a "good story" are dividing our country beyond belief. Many only report the negative "news" and never the accomplishments of our President. If people do not research everything put out by the MSM, they are left to believe all the hate mongering news. This is leading to so much intolerance that I feel we are nearing the brink of a civil war! No other President that took the oath of office, has been on the news 24/7, scrutinized for their every word, facial expression, decision, handshake, what he eats... NO, he is not perfect, far from it! No President or person is, including you and I!!!!! Yes, he makes stupid comments and doesn't use the flowery language of a "professional politician". However, I believe he truly loves the United States of America and works tirelessly to make things better for us all. He is very different than what we've become accustomed to, thank goodness. The people who would rather see our country fail than help him do his job need to stop. I was always taught "If you can't be part of the solution then at least don't be part of the problem". I personally want our President Donald Trump, as I did his predecessors, to succeed. To hope for failure is INSANE. United we stand; divided we fall. πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡ΈπŸ‡ΊπŸ‡ΈπŸ‡ΊπŸ‡ΈπŸ‡ΊπŸ‡ΈπŸ‡ΊπŸ‡ΈπŸ‡ΊπŸ‡ΈπŸ‡ΊπŸ‡ΈπŸ‡ΊπŸ‡ΈπŸ‡ΊπŸ‡ΈπŸ‡ΊπŸ‡ΈπŸ‡ΊπŸ‡ΈπŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ COPY AND PASTE IF YOUR SICK OF IT TOO.

The main issue I have (no I didn't reply to her) is the orange buffoon is so divisive, he doesn't even try to bring the American people together. Look at anyone who disagrees with him - they get called dumb, stupid, thick, etc etc. Ditto people who have stood up to him.   I don't remember Clinton calling for a lynch mob when Al Gore said Bush had won in 2000 - but that's basically what Trump did. How is that sort of thing (amongst others) meant to bring people together? The bit I bolded almost made me laugh out loud though.

Breaking -- appeals court throws out fines in Trump real estate fraud case. It's not entirely over as there is still one more level of state appeal court but I think we all know it's entirely over.

The Washington Post - Trump thanks officers and National guard troops in D.C.

today

President Donald Trump on Thursday visited law enforcement officers and National Guard troops in D.C., further reiterating his pledge to pursue similar crime crackdowns in Democratic-led cities. ...

Trump thanked them for their hard work, then discussed a variety of topics - including his desire to bring back fossil fuels and improve the grass in D.C. parks to resemble his golf course.

One of the things we’re going to be redoing is your parks. I’m very good at grass because they have a lot of golf courses all over the place,” Trump said.

And we’re going to be re-grassing all of your parks, all brand new sprinkler systems, the best that you can buy, just like Augusta ... It’ll look like, more importantly, Trump National Golf Club.” ...

The NY Times - Judge Orders That ‘Alligator Alcatraz’ Detention Center Be Shut Down

breaking

A federal judge on Thursday ordered that no more immigrant detainees be sent to a center in the Florida Everglades, and that much of the facility be dismantled.

The ruling rebuked the state and federal governments for failing to consider potential environmental harms before building the facility, known as Alligator Alcatraz.

The judge gave both branches of the government 60 days to move out existing detainees and begin to remove fencing, lighting, power generators and other materials. The order also prohibits any new construction at the site. ...

The state immediately filed a notice saying that it intended to appeal.

While people bemoan Trumps Tariffs a (and they are economic lunacy) I have heard no Democrats actually advocate to reverse them...

The problem is that they bake in $200-$300 billion in annual federal income, and unless Dems want to raise taxes elsewhere,

The Rest of the World is likely going to have to live with them for a long time

Oh there is an easy fix for that: Reverse the tax break for the richest in the US.
