Incredible. Her comments clearly show what can happen when people let Trump get into their heads. I feel sorry for your relative.

I know, right? I'm seriously thinking of un-friending her (she's an ex-sister-in-law anyway, so I probably won't see her ever again).

A relative of mine who is a Republican posted this on her FB page overnight:<

Possible response

"You mentioned that Trump has been scrutinized more than any other president. It’s a natural reaction to the unprecedented behavior he’s exhibited while in office.

From mocking disabled individuals, to encouraging conspiracy theories, to using divisive language against immigrants, journalists, and even fellow Americans, he’s consistently chosen confrontation over unity. That’s not just “unpolished” or “non-political”, it’s harmful.

I understand wanting a president to succeed. I do too. But success shouldn’t come at the cost of truth, compassion, or basic decency. When a leader calls dissenters “traitors,” praises violence at rallies, or refuses to condemn white supremacy clearly, it’s move over the boundary from political to immoral.

Respect is earned, earned through integrity, not demanded through fear or loyalty. Criticism isn’t hatred. In a democracy, accountability is allowed and necessary.

No one wants division, but we must have leadership that brings people together, not tears them apart."

US copyright law is insane.

A Youtube video from Gamer Nexus discussed illegal smuggling to China of advanced technology, certain Nvidia GPU's used for artificial intelligence.

The documentary had a brief snippet of President Trump, that was copyrighted by Bloomberg. There was plenty of context around Trump's quote, and the snippet lasted a few seconds. Bloomberg's AI issued an automated DCMA strike.

I wonder when (not if) president Trump posts on Truth Social, and a critic reposts a portion of it, and an AI hits it DMCA takedown. And why wouldn't Trump do it: a DCMA strike suppresses dissent, chill speech, and undermines transparency

Perhaps platforms should require manual review for takedowns involving political content, not just allow AI to issue automated takedowns.

Courts should expand fair use protections when public officials are involved.

I hope creators challenge abusive takedowns. But we're talking about US justice, which is a slow and uneven.

That's quite good actually (thanks for that), but I have a feeling it would just go right over her head (as it does with most of the MAGA crowd) so I'll probably just go down the unfriending road.

As an aside, the day after Harris lost the election, she posted one of those "Marked Safe From...a Harris/Walz presidency today" posts with a comment of "hehe" after it, so...

It's one thing to not like a politician (I can't stand Luxon, for example) but I don't see the need to mock him in public or on Facebook - would I personally mock him to his face? Probably not.

Sounds like a very nice person who tends to think the best of people. I'm interested to know what the achievements are from that perspective.

I did enjoy reading that but I thought it would be far more appropriate for Joe Biden.

Trump has made billions from the presidency. America saved Trump not the other way around.

Also, this happened overnight: https://www.axios.com/2025/08/22/john-bolton-trump-fbi-raid-book-timeline

President Trump's acrimonious relationship with his former national security adviser devolved further Friday after the FBI raided John Bolton's Maryland home.

Why it matters: Bolton and Trump fell out over foreign policy with the hawk Bolton calling the president "unfit" for the office in his memoir last year.

(a reminder that the orange buffoon hand-picked this guy himself - "only the best people") 🙄

I'd forgotten about John Bolton, "mister moustache" and his book, but Trump never forgets. A great example of the Streisand effect.

Previously Trump called Bolton a “lowlife”, "not a smart guy," and “a criminal” for publishing a memoir with alleged classified content.

It should remind the few Americans whose synapses still function despite the layers of cholesterol about Trump storing in Mar-a-Lago in a publicly accessible bathroom. 'Cause when I think of airtight security, I think of a bathroom door lock.

Trump called Bolton unpatriotic and a warmonger. Of course Trump threatened North Korea with “fire and fury like the world has never seen”. Iran will never forget Trump ordered the drone strike that killed Iranian General Qassem Soleiman.

Lastly Trump is always looking to innovate in news way of going financially bankrupt, and he has significantly boosted Pentagon spending.

Why does Trump lie, when there's no benefit? This bold-face lie only erodes his reputation among those who are on the fence about supporting him.

Trump says he knows 'nothing' about search of Bolton’s home

Oh there is an easy fix for that: Reverse the tax break for the richest in the US.

Or just trade less with the US and more widely with everywhere else. Some short term pain while everyone readjusts but the long term outcome will be better. If the Americans just want to stew in their own farts, let 'em.

I never witnessed the president in any inappropriate setting in any way. The president was never inappropriate with anybody in the times that I was with him.
