Do traditional GOP supporting and voting business owners enjoy all this?

They've drunk so much of the Trump Kool-aid now, I honestly think he could randomly start shooting people who voted for him that they wouldn't care.

I know that sounds horrible, but that's how wrapped up they are in all his bs. Oh and that reminds me, I unfriended my ex-sister-in-law, waiting to see if she notices or not.

Drunk is the operative word, past tense. When the election ended, its locked in

IIRC there was an article last week where he said he is nit a dictator, but dictators can be good, or words to that effect.

I remember that, here's one of the stories about it: https://time.com/7312196/trump-americans-maybe-we-like-a-dictator/

As to 2028 wannabes, Donald Jr (lol) has indicated he could be interested. As much as I'm sure he's interested, I don't quite think he has the same pull for the electorate as his father.

Looks like the conspiracy theories swirling about over the weekend that the Trumpet-in-Chief was no longer living were (sadly) incorrect.
There's photographic evidence of him playing a round of golf.

He's not in good shape though...looks worse every time he's out in public.

https://edition.cnn.com/2025/08/31/travel/international-tourist-decline-united-states

Rob Hawkins, from the United Kingdom, changed plans he and his wife had for a 20-day spring 2026 trip to the US to go to South Korea and Japan instead.

“America to me is rock ‘n roll, NASA, speed, jazz, horses, bourbon, hip hop, dance, MTV (the original), Hollywood, gold medals, innovation, strength, respectful (sic) and apple pie,” Hawkins told CNN in an email. “Not the army on the streets and the extreme division currently on show,” he said, referring to the National Guard presence in Los Angeles during immigration raids and in Washington D.C. to take federal control of the local police force.

Tourists not wanting to visit the US as they may be arrested/detained/deported for daring to say something nasty about the orange buffoon that might hurt his precious feelings? Shock horror! 🙄

Side note, my boy goes on his trip there this month. Hopefully it all goes okay 🤞

Here’s what to know about the court ruling striking down Trump’s tariffs: The Guardian
...
Are the tariffs gone now?

No. The court largely upheld a May decision by a federal trade court in New York that ruled Trump’s tariffs were illegal. But Friday’s ruling tossed out a part of that ruling that would have struck down the tariffs immediately.

The court said the ruling would not take effect until 14 October. That allows the Trump administration time to appeal to the majority-conservative US supreme court, which will have the ultimate say on whether Trump has the legal right, as president, to upend US trade policy.
...
How has Trump responded

He’s not happy. Trump spent Friday evening reposting dozens of social media posts that were critical of the court’s decision. In a post on his own social media site, Trump claimed, as he tends to do when judges rule against him, that the decision was made by a “highly partisan appeals court”.

“If these Tariffs ever went away, it would be a total disaster for the Country,” Trump wrote. He added: “If allowed to stand, this Decision would literally destroy the United States of America.”

Trump claimed “tariffs are the best tool to help our workers”, despite their costs being typically borne by everyday Americans. The tariffs have triggered economic and political uncertainty across the world and stoked fears of rising inflation.

The Attorney General of Texas (who just lost a court case to Democrat Beto O'Rourke) must have picked up that trick from the orange buffoon:

Trump has previously given the Medal of Freedom
  • Rush Limbaugh,
A conservative radio host widely known for inflammatory, racist, misogynistic rhetoric, frequently labeled as a hate-monger.

  • Rep. Devin Nunes, known for lots of lawsuits against media, including one Twitter account that claimed to be his cow. promoted lies about “the Russia hoax” and defended Trump during his first impeachment proceedings.

  • Rep. Jim Jordan, former Ohio wrestling coach accused of sexual abuse coverup. Objected to certifying the 2020 election results even after the Capitol assault, fueling conspiracy theories around electoral legitimacy.

  • Miriam Adelson, a major donor to Trump. That's it. I guess money is freedom.
Trump says he will award Rudy Giuliani the Presidential Medal of Freedom: The Guardian

Donald Trump said Monday he will award Rudy Giuliani the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the nation’s highest civilian honor
...
For much of the past two decades, Giuliani’s public life has been defined by a striking rise and fall [Before Trump, and After Trump]. After leading New York through the aftermath of the 9/11 attacks, he mounted a brief campaign for the Republican presidential nomination and became one of the most recognizable political figures in the country.

But as Trump’s personal lawyer, he became a central figure in efforts to overturn the 2020 election. Courts repeatedly rejected the fraud claims he advanced, and two former Georgia election workers won a $148m defamation judgment against him.

The election workers, Ruby Freeman and Shaye Moss, said Giuliani’s efforts to promote Trump’s lies about the election being stolen led to death threats that made them fear for their lives.

Giuliani was disbarred in New York and Washington DC for repeatedly making false statements about the election, and he was criminally charged in Georgia and Arizona in connection with efforts to undo Trump’s loss to Democrat Joe Biden.
...
The Medal of Freedom, established in 1963, is awarded to individuals who have made especially meritorious contributions to the security or national interests of the US, world peace, or cultural or other significant public endeavors.

Off subject, but an article about an Representative David Nunes, Trump medal of freedom recipient, upset that his "cow" and "mom" spoke ill of him.

Ironically on Fox News, Nunes said, regarding his $250 million lawsuit against Twitter, that he was doing so because “First Amendment rights are at stake.”

Nunes sponsored the “Discouraging Frivolous Lawsuits Act,”. At the same time using “Strategic Lawsuits Against Public Participation (SLAPP)” suits: legal tools, in particular used effectively by the wealthy, used to suppress criticism.

Devin Nunes’ Cow Has a First Amendment Right to Call Rep. Nunes a ‘Treasonous Cowpoke’: ACLU

You might think that Rep. Devin Nunes (R-Calif.), the Ranking Member of the House Intelligence Committee, would be too busy to file baseless defamation lawsuits against anonymous Twitter accounts. But you’d be wrong.

Rep. Nunes sued a number of people who were mean to him online, including the Twitter parody accounts Devin Nunes’ Mom and Devin Nunes’ Cow. Now, he’s trying to unmask the Cow by subpoenaing the author’s identity from a local law firm. The ACLU and Public Citizen have filed a friend-of-the-court brief urging the court to block Nunes’ subpoena because it violates the First Amendment right to anonymous speech.

From Sam Adams to Mark Twain, Americans throughout history have used pseudonyms to criticize public officials. People adopt pseudonyms for a number of different reasons, such as protecting privacy and preventing official retaliation. The Supreme Court has made clear that “an author’s decision to remain anonymous, like other decisions concerning omissions or additions to the content of a publication, is an aspect of freedom of speech protected by the First Amendment.”

To protect anonymous speech, courts require defamation plaintiffs to satisfy a number of criteria before allowing them to use subpoenas and other discovery tools to unmask anonymous speakers. As particularly relevant here, a plaintiff must demonstrate that the defendant’s statements are plausibly defamatory (i.e., not protected opinion, parody, or political rhetoric) and produce evidence showing that the defendant’s statements were actually false. These requirements prevent plaintiffs from using meritless defamation claims as a vehicle to identify anonymous critics for purposes of retaliation, while allowing plaintiffs with legitimate claims to proceed. As we argue in our friend-of-the-court brief, these safeguards are not just good policy – they’re required by the First Amendment.

Rep. Nunes has utterly failed to satisfy these constitutional requirements. His defamation claims against the Cow are based on constitutionally protected statements of opinion and political rhetoric, such as the contention that Rep. Nunes is a “treasonous cowpoke” whose “boots are full of manure.” Rep. Nunes may not like these characterizations, but the First Amendment vigorously protects the rights.

Hard to summarize, worth reading.

The Washington Post - The Supreme Court has expanded Trump’s power. He’s seeking much more.   (unlocked link)

01 Aug 2025

Summary:

The Supreme Court will soon address President Trump's efforts to expand executive power, including firing Federal Reserve governor Lisa Cook, imposing tariffs and withholding foreign aid.

These cases challenge the separation of powers, with lawsuits alleging Trump's actions exceed his authority.

The court's conservative majority has previously supported Trump's executive authority, but the Federal Reserve's independence remains a contentious issue.

Read the full article for more on:

  •     The unprecedented legal battle over Lisa Cook's firing from the Federal Reserve.
  •     How Trump's tariffs could reshape U.S. trade relations and impact the economy.
  •     The implications of withholding foreign aid on international relations and humanitarian efforts.

and finally, Governor Gavin Newsom of California taking on the orange buffoon at his own game - and doing quite well at it 😀

Donald Trump descends Trump Tower on an escalator to announce his candidacy for US president on 16 June 2015.

The Guardian - Golden escalator ride: the surreal day Trump kicked off his bid for president

On 16 June 2015, after Trump had slowly descended a golden escalator to the basement of his eponymous New York tower, he clambered on to a makeshift stage and began his announcement speech.

Wow. Woah. That is some group of people. Thousands!” Trump said, looking out towards a bank of TV cameras.  [Translation: "less than 50"]

Except that’s not how people who were there remember it. ...

In the days following Trump’s announcement, it emerged that the Trump campaign had paid people $50 to attend the event. “We are looking to cast people for the event to wear T-shirts and carry signs and help cheer him in support of his announcement,” read the casting call.

Trump gets the best treatment as President.
https://www.science.org/content/article/heres-what-known-about-president-donald-trump-s-covid-19-treatment

When he did get covid from the intense exposure from his garden parties (mass covid infection events).
He did not go, 'Oh its all bunk', 'God will protect me I am chosen', 'Virus will make me stronger'.
The best advanced treatments available were used.

He did once try to promote 'his vaccines' at a MAGA event and stopped upon the crazed crowd booing this.
https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/donald-trump/trump-booed-alabama-rally-after-telling-supporters-get-vaccinated-n1277404

"But I recommend take the vaccines," Trump said. "I did it. It's good. Take the vaccines."

So back to Hydroxychloroquine.
https://www.forbes.com/sites/joshuacohen/2024/01/07/trump-promoted-hydroxychloroquine-to-treat-covid-19-a-drug-now-linked-to-17000-deaths/

""
According to a study published in the February 2024 issue of the peer-reviewed journal Biomedicine & Pharmacotherapy, the pharmaceutical has now been linked to approximately 17,000 deaths.
""
According to researchers, the toxicity of hydroxychloroquine in patients with Covid-19 is partially due to its severe cardiac side effects.
""

Interesting Trump did not stick to just larger doses of hydroxychloroquine he said he was taking, flushing your lungs out with bleach, or a bright light vs treatments that he now decries.

Trumps style is whatever lie sells is todays lie.

The Washington Post - Trump’s Cabinet meeting schedule

The NY Times - What, Exactly, Was That Cabinet Meeting?

(a televised meeting at the White House on Tuesday 26 August that lasted almost half the workday)

26 Aug 2025

In front of a wall of cameras, the old “Apprentice” host offered a clear window into the way he was running his administration, starting with an ego that appeared to need frequent feeding ...

There in the Cabinet Room all of the president’s men and women took their turns, each working a little bit harder than the last to offer Mr. Trump praise ...  three hours of nonstop attention.
