Trump wakes up during eulogy, and murmurs to Christl Mahfouz, owner of Ace Specialties, the official merchandise distributor for the Trump “Make America Great Again”

"Christl, work up some gold painted urns, 'stars and stripes' burial shrouds, funeral guestbooks, and ramp up the 'God Bless the USA Bibles'"

This needs a careful and wise approach. The AI EO takes the opposite.

Few would accuse MTG of being careful or wise.

Presumably this is satire, but Christl Mahfouz, the self-described "ACE CEO🇺🇸MAGA Merch Queen", is very real:

Before being arrested alleging an assassination attempt on Trump at Mar-a-largo, Routh reportedly supported Trump during the 2020 election but later became radically disillusioned with him.

He expressed strong support for Ukraine in its war against Russia. He claimed to have traveled there to assist volunteer. He said he was not accepted due to age.

In court filings, Routh referred to Trump as a “racist pig” and proposed a bizarre challenge: “A round of golf with the racist pig, he wins he can execute me, I win I get his job”.

Trump assassin trial blows up in front of Judge Cannon

"Trump's would be golf course assassin Ryan Routh is outfoxing Trump's favorite Federal Judge Aileen Cannon, acting out in Court that both proves his Insanity Defense, AND sets up a reversal on appeal as Judge Cannon struggles to control Routh acting as his own lawyer.

The Youtube presenter explains that Routh representing himself is a brilliant move that lets Routh let the jury know he is "insane" without having to actually testify, while he bates Cannon into screwing up his trial for appeal"

For newer readers of this thread, I am a Democratic supporter. All I can say is that Gavin Newsom is the leading contender for the  Democratic Presidential representative in 2028. He is currently the Governor of California, the most Progressive State in the Union.

Gavin Newsom does not think Charlie Kirk is a racist. I don’t know many things  but I am 100% sure he would not allow his 13 year old son to listen to Charlie Kirk’s or his Turning Point USA YouTube or TikTok if he was a racist. In fact Gavin’s son wanted to meet Charlie during this interview but had school. This is all from the first 10 minutes of the interview. In light of recent events it is probably the most important video I’ve watched in the past 5 years.

You can find it on YouTube very easily. They get along very well but disagree on some points courteously.

For my part, I hope if Gavin runs in 2028 he wins, as I think the longer the orange buffoon is around running(?) the show, the political divisions in the US will only get wider and deeper.

As for Charlie Kirk - here's a very pertinent post I saw today:

This one points out the hypocrisy of Republicans, and the fact that people like Kirk (and Trump, while we're at it) only make it worse.

@quickymart

Thanks, I appreciate your point of view. I know it might sound strange but I genuinely don't want to get into arguments with anyone. I think I might have revealed too much about myself in fact and will spectate from a distance.

Gavin Newsom does not think Charlie Kirk is a racist.

The interview a kind of Newsom “charm offensive,” deliberately reaching across the aisle to find common ground and model reduced hostility in political discourse.

During the interview between the two, removing the fluff, only these points were made
  • in the intro, Gavin praised Kirk for his impact on college campuses and youth, including his own children

  • allowing trans athletes in women’s sports is ‘deeply unfair’

  • went on the say how trans issues are “weaponized,” and emphasized empathy toward them as a vulnerable group.

  • Gavin acknowledged ideological differences (Newsom is a longtime Democrat)

  • emphasized he wanted to “stress test” ideas and understand Kirk’s appeal.

  • Gavin said Democrats couldn't play dead following Trump's loss
After the March 6, 2025 interview and before Charlie Kirk’s death, there was no public statements from Gavin Newsom about Charlie Kirk.

I feel like you have a kind heart. I'm struggling not be patronizing.

if you ever had a serious political discourse with a European about American politics, you might feel like a child getting lectured by a political scientist. This is particularly true of the Germans.

@kingdragonfly

Thanks for your reply. I am grateful that you took the time to watch the interview. Urging people to watch it was my sole motivation. You make some excellent points. However, I disagree very strongly that this was a warm and fuzzy interview with softball questions. In particular, Gavin received massive blowback from various Democrats regarding his trans sports comments and had to walk back his comments. And now I'm really out. Thanks again.

Again I'm not trying to make you feel uncomfortable, but based on the USA's National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP) results based on civics, geography, U.S. history, nationwide, proficiency in these subjects is low: roughly 1 in 4 are proficient.

More specifically California compared to traditionally impoverished southeastern states like Alabama, Mississippi, Georgia, it's not a good look for California. Only about 28-29% of California 8th graders are proficient in reading.

Again for civics, geography, U.S. history, California solidly share the same lack of proficiency civics, geography, U.S. history (and math and science). Some southeastern states are worse; some are better.

While you might think California's poor standing is because a large numbers of ESL students are depressing averages in subjects reliant on language, but California's poor results extend to urban districts with strong resources.

Utah's Republican Mormon governor labels Steve Bannon as a conflict entrepreneur

Independent: This past week, Bannon derided Cox as a “national embarrassment” as the Utah governor — whose own ties to the GOP fall under more traditional conservative lines through the influence of Mormonism in the state — called for peace and respectful dialogue across the aisle in the wake of Kirk’s assassination on a college campus on Wednesday. On CNN, Cox labelled the War Room host a “conflict entrepreneur” and encouraged Americans not to listen to voices that profit off of division. “Look, there are conflict entrepreneurs out there who benefit from radicalizing us. And I’m not one of those. I don’t know that that’s particularly helpful,” he said.

Accurate. Established Christian denominations just don't go for Bannon's nonsense.

Whatever you do, don't mention politics. I mentioned it once, but I think I got away with it.

The difference between being feared and being loved. Trump senses it, but he will never understand it.
