A good step would be to sack Simeon Brown from all portfolios.
Noooo, not our beloved Miniature of Health!
When I see him on the 6PM news I often wonder if his mother knows he's out that late.
He belongs on r/13or30
And now he's the minister for energy!
Other changes include Simeon Brown picking up the energy portfolio from Simon Watts, who in turn takes over Brown’s Minister for Auckland role.
Prime Minister Christopher Luxon said the past few weeks had underlined how important energy security was, and so was giving the role to a ‘senior’ minister.

The PM's wife thinks people don't like him much because his entire, uh, personality? (I think that's what she's trying to say) isn't fully reported:
“I actually feel as though New Zealanders are somewhat given a disservice. The information that comes up is quite a selective piece of information," she said.
"It's chosen by people, and we believe what's been given to us is the full story. We believe it is the correct story, and we believe it is factual and doesn't have an agenda or bias by anybody.
"But I can sometimes go, 'were they at the same thing I was at?' because in fact this was a really great event or a very great occasion, but what's reported is this tiny little you know, petty sort of thing on the side, and New Zealanders miss out."
She is right - to a point - but I think a lot of the time he manages to put his foot in his mouth all on his own, which probably doesn't help.
Right, which is why I was a bit surprised that she said that. I don't remember John Key's wife (for example) doing anything similar for him, even when the chips were down - but to be fair I wasn't paying too much attention to politics back then, either.
Just watch the video. What a compleete... idiot.

Assuming he has media trainers, they must be cringing watching that.

As a senior minister, Brown has his hands full.
And Luxon has also put Brown in charge of National's election campaign.
Brown is going to be a very busy person and may not have much time for campaign matters. Luxon must be planning to lose the election!

In any other situation I'd be sympathising with someone given such a poison chalice. But I've heard from multiple people that Brown is ... not the most pleasant person ... so, yeah, good luck to him.

Wouldn't this be lovely 😁
Without a doubt, Bishop is ferociously busy. But the workload argument strains when you consider the new wearer of the campaign chair sash. Simeon Brown remains as minister of health, in charge of an issue New Zealanders rank second only to cost of living as their biggest concern, and he takes back energy from Simon Watts (farewell to the most aptly named energy minister since Phil Heatley), a portfolio in which there’s a bit happening just at the minute.
Bishop/Willis is too Wellington for it to work in Auckland. Bishop/Brown is not remotely interesting.
It's a shame because Bishop has done more for Auckland with development reform than any of the actual Ministers for Auckland have managed.

He's certainly tried to, although I remain highly dubious about opening up more land around Drury/Pukekohe for a number of reasons. But he's been really let down by Luxon who has caved to pressure from his NIMBY constituents - and probably himself to be honest - who are appalled that their leafy suburbs might have to house people with a less than seven figure net worth.
