The New Republic is a deeply conservative publication ... that hates Trump.

Republican Speaker of the House Mike Johnson’s Epstein Delay Tactic Is About to Blow Up in His Face: The New Republic

As southern Arizona voters in the state’s 7th congressional district head to the polls Tuesday to fill a vacancy in the U.S. House, they are poised to revive a major headache for House Speaker Mike Johnson and the Trump administration.

Both the Democratic front-runner, Adelita Grijalva, and her Republican challenger, Daniel Butierez, have publicly expressed their intent to provide the deciding signature on the discharge petition to circumvent Johnson and force a House vote on releasing the Jeffrey Epstein files.
...
With the House’s current makeup ... are just one signature shy on their bid to force a vote—which would likely go to the House floor and pass
...
While Johnson can try to block it via the House Rules Committee, he and the committee chair, Virginia Foxx, have both reportedly said they wouldn’t do so.

Have I heard it wrong? Just got in.

We know Trump has done a 180 on Ukraine winning the war, AND getting all of its original territory back

Now I see he is pushing back on Israel vs Palestine. So no Riviera, etc.

Commentator said the other day he likes to back a winner, well, we all know that. So its not about legality, or morals, or doing the right thing. Its JUST about backing a winner. Cynical me feels this is about his Nobel Peace Prize. Which will not happen

That site is awesome. Also, she won the by-election, so it's just a matter of time now...

USA recognizing Palestine would get him a nomination I'm sure.

The orange buffoon has already been nominated: https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2025/jul/10/netanyahu-trump-nobel-peace-prize-nomination

Fortunately, "nomination" is not the same as "getting" 😀

Christ, and they think this is the sort of crap most (or the majority of) people in the US care about? Sure, Kirk had his fans - but so did the politician in Minnesota who got murdered the other week, too.

I think the Republicans really stop need to kow-towing to Trump and what his base cares about, they don't represent the entire electorate. There are much more important issues to worry about than nonsense like this.

When Mike Johnston was first appointed Speaker he was very enthusiastic about a Trump coin, but Donny dismissed the idea, saying he wasn't happy with the idea that his head might be in the dark and upside-down in anyone's pocket.

Trump crowned? No faux King way!

Ex-FBI Director Comey charged with making a false statment and obstruction

It couldn't get any more like a parody if it tried. America truly is in the grip of a dictatorship.

The guy who helped propel Trump into the first presidency, betrayed by Trump.

What a surprise.

A good mix of cartoons this weekend:

The orange buffoon's Nobel Peace Prize dream while rambling to the UN:

Still rambling at the UN (repeating himself for good measure as he reckoned no one could hear him):

"Free speech":

"Hate speech":

and finally, two different viewpoints towards the person who killed Charlie Kirk:

"Donald Trump's own staffers behind tech fails at UN, investigation finds"

In my mischievous youth, I must admit I have personal experience with this.

To annoy mall security, I used to kick the emergency button on a mall escalator (while no one was on it). The guard would have to manually reset it to get it moving again.

I looked it up, every escalator has to have an emergency stop button, easily accessible, and with some signage. It's up to the manufacturer exactly where it is, whether it faces up or sideways.

From my brief search, different manufacturers use different locations, even in the middle of the escalator, beyond the rail. Some beep when stopped, others don't.

So I could easily see a photographer getting to the top of the escalator, turning around to get a photo of Trump, and accidently bumping the button with his foot, or tripod.
