Of course now - TACO TBC - he's now threatening 100% tariffs on China starting on 1st of November. I assume because he's angry about the Nobel Peace Prize, although the winner was a woman and he's never really been shy about attacking women that he thinks are threatening him. Assuming he does go through with it, it's going to hurt a lot more this time: that's only about 3 weeks warning. Nobody is going to have time to get stock in ahead of them.

The NY Times - Editorial - Trump Disgraces American Justice

10 Oct 2025

President Trump is once again weaponizing the legal system to fulfill his personal vendettas.

Last year, before he could point to a single crime that he claimed she had committed, Mr. Trump called for the prosecution of New York’s attorney general, Letitia James, who was suing him for fraudulent business dealing.

On Thursday the Justice Department secured an indictment against Ms. James, alleging bank fraud.

The story behind the indictment says it all. A federal prosecutor decided recently that there was not enough evidence to bring charges against Ms. James.

In a normal administration, that would have been the end of the case. But Mr. Trump did not take no for an answer.

He forced that prosecutor’s resignation and in a social media post last month demanded that Attorney General Pam Bondi appoint a new prosecutor: Lindsey Halligan, a Trump ally and insurance lawyer who had never prosecuted a case.

Leticia James' "crime" is to be a Black woman, who resisted Trumpism.

Hopefully James will crush Halligan and Trump  ...  🙄

Turns out he did speak to her, however I have no confidence in the orange buffoon's retelling of the call (that she said he "really deserved it").

Not utterly out of the question that she did say it. After all she knows that Maduro is currently high on Trump's enemy list and if he was ousted then she might be the next president. Thus she has a decent reason to outrageously flatter the orange man. Not saying she did but it's not impossible.

quickymart:  "The person who actually got the Nobel Prize called today, called me, and said, 'I'm accepting this in honour of you, because you really deserved it,'" Trump told reporters in the Oval Office.

Stranger than fiction ...

Reuters - Venezuela's opposition leader Machado wins Nobel Peace Prize, dedicates to Trump

OSLO, Oct 10 (Reuters) - Venezuelan opposition leader Maria Corina Machado won the 2025 Nobel Peace Prize on Friday for fighting dictatorship in the country and dedicated the award in part to U.S. President Donald Trump ...

[Machado] in an X post in English: "I dedicate the prize to the suffering people of Venezuela and to President Trump for his decisive support of our cause!"

Trump is a fierce critic of Maduro and the U.S. is one of a number of countries that does not recognise his government's legitimacy.

Stranger indeed but I just read up a bit on Maduro and my conclusion is Trump probably doesn't like him because he's on the left and won't do what Trump wants. I don't think he doesn't like him because of the bad stuff he does to his people as a reason not to like him (see: Putin, Orban, etc).

Happy to be corrected if I've misunderstood 🙂

So with prisoner exchanges happening and The Orange Saviour being lauded as "Israel's greatest ever friend", there'll be plenty of celebrating the success of the Orange One.

Of course none of this even comes close to a plan to remove the rubble that was a country's buildings and infrastructure and rebuild it.

Thousands are homeless, with no means of ever regaining a meaningful home, but at least they can fossick about in their rubble without being shot at for a little while.

Yay, Trump!

1000%

While its great for friends and families of the hostages returning to Israel, its about about winning the war, fawning Trump, no news inches on the other 67000 innocent victims

Interesting that Netanyahu didnt go to the celebrations and victory speeches, neither did two other major (positive) leaders in the region, one from Saudi I think, cannot recall the other

Netanyahu torpedoed the previous negotiation round by attempting to wipe out the negotiating team in Qatar. In a round previous to that negotiators were also killed. Netanyahu's extremist coalition partners openly stated they did not want negotiations for the return of hostages, leading to the deaths of many.

Trump negotiator real estate billionaire Steve Witkoff's speech in Hostages Square celebrating the return of the hostages - interrupted several times by loud audience booing and screaming when Witkoff tried to thank Netanyahu:

New York Times details the arguments over the shutdown:

https://www.nytimes.com/2025/10/07/us/politics/shutdown-trump-health-care-subsidies.html

Continuing the health policy will cost approximately $350 Billion over 10 years - sounds like a lot of money but very small when compared to other budget areas and Elon Musk's $1000 Billion bonus.
