Sideface: Trump calling Mamdani a communist

Mamdani 's is not a communist, and has never belonged to the communist party. His writing often critiques both Western liberalism and Marxist orthodoxy.

What will Trump call him next? a scallywag / scalawag, Jacobite, Leveller (1640s English Civil War) / Whig / Roundhead / Cavalier / rapscallion?

The Washington Post - Takeaways from Democrats’ big night

breaking

Democrats swept key elections across the country on Tuesday night, delivering a rebuke of President Donald Trump’s second term and boosting the party’s hopes ahead of the midterms.

In Virginia - traditionally a bellwether in the year after a presidential election - Democrats won every statewide contest, and Abigail Spanberger led the governor’s race by double digits with more than 90 percent of the vote tallied.

In New Jersey, Democratic gubernatorial pick Mikie Sherrill easily beat back a strong Republican candidate she attacked for embracing Trump.

In California, Democrats won a ballot measure to redraw their congressional districts that they pitched as a check on Trump.

In New York City, Democratic socialist Zohran Mamdani was elected mayor after a race full of surprises that thrust him to the center of Democrats’ debates about the direction of their party.

An encouraging sign for Democrats: They appeared to fare far better with voters of color than they did in last year’s presidential election.

Some predictable overnight tweets:

The Unconstitutional Redistricting Vote in California is a GIANT SCAM in that the entire process, in particular the Voting itself, is RIGGED.

TRUMP WASN’T ON THE BALLOT, AND SHUTDOWN, WERE THE TWO REASONS THAT REPUBLICANS LOST ELECTIONS TONIGHT.

TERMINATE THE FILIBUSTER!!!

EDIT:  Translation: Trump refuses to take any blame for Tuesday's results.

No word on what happened in Texas and how much of a "GIANT SCAM" that was though? Oh that's right, the orange buffoon started that one himself, didn't he? So that one's all good then, I guess? 🙄

The NY Times - Trump Weighs Options, and Risks, for Attacks on Venezuela

04 Nov 2025

The Trump administration has developed a range of options for military action in Venezuela, including direct attacks on military units that protect President Nicolás Maduro and moves to seize control of the country’s oil fields, according to multiple U.S. officials.

President Trump has yet to make a decision about how or even whether to proceed.

Officials said he was reluctant to approve operations that may place American troops at risk or could turn into an embarrassing failure.

But many of his senior advisers are pressing for one of the most aggressive options: ousting Mr. Maduro from power.

The classic fascist despot distraction move - you're unpopular at home, so start a war   😠

Its always hard to denounce the boss.  :-)
Trump seems careful about his language around Putin.
Often its just how Putin loves his people and wants to do great trade deals.

Putin has control of a lot of wealth. Trumps true measure of a man.
Plus certain very wealthy countries that diversifified into Russian energy investments.
It seemed to be a match of their oil market expertise at the time.
Russia may make pretty good bonesaws as well. :-)

Venezuela
It seems to have been a bonus for Putin.
The planeloads of weapons and missiles that Russia has supplied.

Expensive stuff when Russia needs income more than ever.
It need not even be all Russian stuff.
Could be some stuff from 3rd party countries who don't want a direct trail to them
