As James may have just found out (the hard way), the old saying is true - it's all about the timing:

Trump changes sides, yet again ...
The Washington Post - U.S. pushing Ukraine to sign peace deal by Thanksgiving or lose support (unlocked link)
21 Nov 2025
Trump officials pressured Ukraine to accept a proposed peace deal by Thanksgiving.
The latest: The Trump administration asked Ukraine to accept the 28-point peace plan drafted by special envoy Steve Witkoff and Russian envoy Kirill Dmitriev by next week.
Or else: Officials told The Post that the U.S. is sending “signals” that it will cut off aid to Ukraine if the nation does not accept the deal soon.
The deal: The plan includes requiring Ukraine to shrink its military and give territory to Russia.
EDIT One reader's comment from the above article:
This makes the Munich Agreement of 1938 look like a fair deal. That's really hard to do but Trump did it.
I find the timing interesting. The Nobel Committee only considers actions taken before January into account when considering the Peace Prize. I guess Trump is in a hurry to get his award, as if.
This is truly a Thanksgiving turkey. The Kremlin has no interest in any deal that doesn't cripple Ukraine. ...

... still hoping for a Nobel Prize, at any cost ? 🙄
„This will be the best and most beautiful and [please insert any further bullshit here] peace treaty the world has ever seen.“ 😁
And now one of the orange buffoon's biggest and most vocal (former) backers is now stepping down:
Bets that Democrats might win her electorate? Or is it a solid Republican one?

She's going to start her own MAGA, with blackjack and hookers.

So, they reward an illegal and aggressive state, so that gains, all the illegally gained are rewarded. It gives Trump a win, it gives Putin a win and he's laughing, it gives Ukraine a kick up the butt, too bad how sad, but its a win for me (Trump)
Hope the EU and others push back. Double the size of the US but well behind militarily. EU has to get feet on the ground and planes in the air, as UK PM stated many months ago.
Could that spark EU and US issues? They already exist
Could that start WW3? The definition of a World war already exists. Russia has likely had Belarus troops involved, there has been Chinese and PRNK troops on the ground, by that there is already a world war in progress.
EU and UKR need to hold on till mid terms and elections when Trump is ousted. They can do that IMO as feet on the ground and planes in the air is a step or steps above the current war.
I wonder if Zelenskyy might say he cannot be part of selling out his country and he would then resign. He seems to be a man of great principle and he might see that as his only possible course. It would not at all surprise me if he did this and it might shock Europe into some kind of meaningful action.

Well, we're not shocked. When the details became known, our Chancellor cancelled a school visit and instead spoke on the phone with his EU colleagues and Zelensky.

The Washington Post - Trump says Zelensky can agree to peace plan or ‘fight his little heart out’
breaking
President Donald Trump on Saturday heaped pressure on Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, saying he can either agree to the White House’s peace proposal by Thursday, or “continue to fight his little heart out.”
The comment, made to reporters in Washington, is part of a White House push to get Ukraine’s leaders to agree to a 28-point plan to end the war that began with Russia’s invasion in February 2022.
It has drawn criticism, including from Republican lawmakers, for being favorable to Moscow. ...
The proposal drew immediate concern among Ukraine’s allies in Europe.

But the guy on the operating table looks more like Vance than Zelensky. 😁
