SaltyNZ:

Heh, the latest South Park has a little bit to say about Pam Bondi. :-D

Since it was released in Halloween, and she was a minor character, I guess it's OK to talk about her.

"The Woman in the Hat" Season 28, Episode 2:

Pam Bondi is depicted as a staunch sycophant to Trump. A ghost haunts the White House. One of the hauntings signs is Pam's nose coated with brown β€œrectoplasm” whenever she praises him.

It's 54% Filet-O-Fish sandwich, 28% Taco Bell, and 14% its own feces

Trump is becoming increasingly dangerous.

It looks very much to me as if the US government is making decisions based on flashes of inspiration during their lunch break at McDonald's, and then trumpeting them to the world without reflection. They are currently puzzling over where the 28-point plan for Ukraine actually came from. It could hardly be more unprofessional. πŸ˜

Indeed.

https://edition.cnn.com/2025/11/21/europe/ukraine-russia-trump-peace-analysis-intl

Much of the text resembles the maximalist positions Russia held during talks in Istanbul in 2022 when its forces held more of Ukraine, and the slow, grinding military embarrassment of the past three years was still ahead of them.

https://edition.cnn.com/2025/11/23/politics/us-senators-rounds-rubio-ukraine-peace-plan

It sure reads like a Russian wish list, Ukraine gives up decent amounts of territory for not much.

Query, why did Putin invade Ukraine anyway? Why not Belarus (for example)? It's just next door, and a former Russian state, too?

The Washington Post - Judge tosses cases against Comey and James, rules prosecutor appointment unlawful  (unlocked link)

breaking

A federal judge dismissed charges against former FBI director James B. Comey and New York Attorney General Letitia James on Monday, delivering an emphatic blow to President Donald Trump’s efforts to engineer prosecutions of two of his prominent foes.

U.S. District Judge Cameron McGowan Currie ruled that Lindsey Halligan, the prosecutor overseeing both cases, had been unlawfully appointed to her position and, therefore, indictments she secured against Comey and James must be thrown out. ...

By declaring Halligan’s appointment invalid, Currie joined several other judges in rejecting legal arguments the Trump administration has used to install loyalists in top prosecutorial positions across the country.

At last, some good news!   ☺️

Getting off topic slightly as this probably is better in the Ukraine thread. However here's my thoughts.

I'd guess several reasons.

Belarus is already in the fold (the Russians already have effective control), Ukraine provides a bigger buffer to the west (irrational fear of The West inavding Russia), Ukraine has valubale minerals, and finally the Ukrainians needed saving/protection from The West.

And the judge slaps Trump in the face with his own pet judge's ruling on illegally appointed lawyers too.

The rulings dismissing the James Comey and Letitia James cases also cite a passage from the decision in July 2024 by Judge Aileen M. Cannon in Florida to dismiss the indictment against President Trump in the classified documents case. The cited line is about how if a prosecutor who obtained an indictment was not validly appointed, the only remedy is to dismiss the case.

The NY Times - Opinion - The Outrageous False Equivalences That Prop Up President Trump

24 Nov 2025

While President Trump certainly has supporters who adore him and feel no need to justify that, he survives - and too often prospers - with the crucial help of voters who basically regard him as the lesser of evils.

They tell themselves something like this: Trump has shortcomings, but those are merely mirrors of the corruption and craziness on the other side. ...

But those claims insist on a symmetry that doesn’t exist. They’re equivalences not merely false but fantastical.

They ignore the severity, the prevalence, the consequences of the misconduct in question. ...

The natural conclusion to "America ain't perfect, but it's a hell of a lot better than anywhere else."

Comedian Jimmy Carr once joked at a Florida show that the Biblical apocalypse event called Rapture, where all good people get sucked into heaven, was scheduled to happen on that day.

And the Florida law allowing open carry of hand guns was literally the next day.
